Promenade - Street Sweeper Social Club

Anyone listen to these guys? It's Rage's Tom Morello and Boot Riley from the Coup. My new favorite band at the moment. They're great.

Can't say I've heard of it, but that's not saying much. Some musicians these days have so many side projects, it's hard to keep track. Was it done before or after he did Audioslave?

It's Tom's newest project, likely to be his main one for awhile. I don't know how much hip hop you like, but it's probably my favorite thing he's done, and it heavily delves into hip hop vocals.

None of that Zach De La Rocha whiney crap.

Sounds like it's worth a listen. I like Rap/Rock for the most part, but I like it best when the vocals are clear rap/hip hop backed by straight-up rock/metal riffs.

As much as I like RATM, I never cared that much for Zach's vocals or his tendancy to get repetitious with his lyrics ("Killing In The Name Of..." is a good example). It's alright for the chorus, but the same verse for half the song? C'mon.

Just noticed you responded. Better late than ever to respond. I never cared much for Zach's vocals either. Boots Riley is great though, and a lyrical mastermind.

Rap/rock can be really good if it's executed properly, but it seems like it gets harder and harder to create without sounding cheesy.

I was finally able to listen to "Promenade" earlier today and I like really liked it.

I was checking Time-Warner Cable's Music On Demand station and they've got SSSC's video for "100 Little Curses" available now (with a cameo by Breckin Meyer!).

Promenade is one of my favorites from the album. I still need to watch the 100 Little Curses video.. I heard it was out. Just been putting it off.

EDIT: Just watched the video.. I love it. SSSC had the same outfits on at Sasquatch Festival.. Man they were awesome. It's funny, this won't come as any surprise to most people but I couldn't remember who Breckin Meyer was... Then I'm like "Oh yeahhhhhh!". I swear he's one of the most underrated actors in the biz.
