I had this action figure growing up, it was my favorite and I can't remember what it was called or who made it. He was around 10" tall. Kinda anime looking. He was black with white removable armour. Had a grey removable face mask and had orange eyes. He also had articulation in his shoulders, knees, wrists, elbows, head and toes also his toes were grey and he had a blade like thing on his head. He also came with removable guns that stuck to his thighs. (Shown) the pistol is the pieces of him I have left. I got him at K B Toys in the 90's and I believe that there were a few others in his series. A green one and a pink one?

Btw. He had black under armour and white outer armour, like a storm trooper.

Possibly Ronin Warriors they had tons of awesome characters with loads of removable armor and accessories. Playmates made them originally, but there are tons of better figures from Japan since it was based on the Anime.

Blazord from Takara's Zap Power Force line.
FYI, Ronin Warriors didn't have guns. |

You're certainly welcome.
@Startaiger--I don't believe they ever aired the show in the US. In fact, I don't even remember any marketing at all for the toys. I wasn't even aware they existed until a few years ago. Explains why the author found them at KB Toys, doubtless with five overlapping orange clearance stickers. |
