Just finished reading Schism...seems as if Cyclops got all the heavy hitter's and more of the X-Men than Wolvy did.

Team Wolverine or Team Cyclops.

Your thoughts?
Thank you!

I haven't decided if I wanted to continue reading this series since I was so disappointed with the actual schism event.

If I was making my decision based on what character I favor it would be wolverine. If I was a mutant forced to decide, I'll go with the leadership of Cyclops over Wolverine's any day of the week unless my power is also accelerated healing/near immortality. I haven't forgotten that wolverines curse has been to watch all his loved ones die grizzly deaths. School or militia, doesn't matter. If wolverine's involved and you're near him be certain death squads or assassins are inevitably coming your way and he can't protect you the way the other heavy hitters could.

I mean even in Schism, it was Cyclops' original strategy to make a stand with the sentinel that ultimately prevailed.

Truthfully, I will most likely choose my next collected hard cover of either series based purely on strength of story based off of reader feedback

Agreed, I'm almost tempted to drop a few of the X-Titles...

The Runaways have the best idea. I'm with them.

I've never been a fan of Cyclops, and I outright hate Wolverine (It's one of those backlash hates. He's way more popular than he deserives, and he's such a cash whore for marvel that you can't get away from him). And any character I do love is either dead, or has been dragged through the mud so badly by marvel's terrible handling of the x-titles (Since Morrison took over), that I've stopped caring about them.

So, I agree with the Runaways creed. The world of the Adults is so insane, it's bets to not get involved.

I wish they would throw X-23 with the Runways and make a new book. Almost prefer that over AA.

This is honestly how I'm starting to feel about Batman. I disagree with your comment about Wolverine not deserving to be that popular, fans get to determine that, that's just the way it is. What I do agree with is the level of down right ridiculousness that both Wolverine and Batman fans bring to message boards with their godly ability to pwn every Character in either universe in a fight (no wonder these two formed Dark Claw in Amalgam).

I seriously have to tune out and just read the stories for what they are and watch the movies for what they are (sorry Wolvie, but you're severely behind the curb in both categories to Batman lately) and ignore the silliness of how Batman > MW3 or whatever stupid meme gets thrown out these days.

IGN is the worst for this actually. I can't go into one article about anything Marvel related without noticing every comment associated from "fans" is about Batman. Just to be dicks.

Someone should just write a blog about when Good Superheroes become annoying because of fanboys.

I'd have to agree with this, even though I've been a fan of Wolverine's since his debut. I think part of it is that the whole anti-hero idea caught on like a wildfire, so everyone was trying to either create their own or attempt to duplicate their success.

Of course, it's the same problem I have with most companies these days. Every minor original hit is copied and cloned and rehashed into oblivion. And it's only when they get the inevitable tsunami of a backlash they finally let go of a concept and things go back to normal (for a while). Rinse and repeat.

As to the poll, I will abstain. Cyke and Logan have both made mistakes in the past when it comes to leadership, but both can be really effective as field commanders. To me, the only true leader of the X-Men is Charles.

Too true and yet he wasn't in Schism at all and actually haven't really seen him since X-Men legacy after he helps Legion capture his son's personalities.

Then let me try again. I'm more talking about Wolverine's forced popularity. While the fandom is annoying, it's not nearly so much as over the top as Marvel takes Wolverine. Wolverine this, wolverine that. Wolverine starring in like four-six monthly team titles, two solo books, whatever mini series is going on, and guest starring in at least four different books a month. Then gets headlined OVER the X-men in the Wolverine AND The X-Men cartoon, and given control of the team when there are half a dozen other, better leaders underneath him (Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Frost).
Two million toys exist of him, when we have trouble getting other alpha characters who actually may be more important to the marvel universe (And this goes back to the pre ML Toybiz days).

And because Wolverine can't be in enough places, they clone him and make a cute little girl Wolverine (That's disturbing on sooooooooo many levels), and because Sabertooth being the "evil" wolverine schtick wasn't enough, they make Dark Wolverine, too.

I won't deny that Batman is the DC equivalent. (Green Arrow would sooooo rock an animated series, if they would stop plugging Batman, and give someone ELSE a chance!)
The only thing I'll put Batman above Wolverine, is Batman is capable of screwing up, big time.

But, that's more or less what I'm talking about when I say Wolverine doesn't deserve the popularity he gets. Over exposure to insane levels by the publishers and other companies handling the marvel franchises. (And I'm not saying Batman isn't. He's a whole different can of worms) In the real world, he's not as insanely popular as the companies think he is. Popular yes, but from what I pick up even from his most diehard fans is they'd like to see him get scaled back, too.
Wolverine's the best there is at what he does, and what he does is be everywhere.

Personal opinion, He was a lot cooler back in Giant Sized X-Men era, before he was overexposed. Better written, a more realistic character, and just all around better rounded.
Nowadays, his best scenes are when Molly Hayes beats the snot out of him.

Now that angle I can definitely see, and respect that perspective. I personally only read the Wolverine solo series and Uncanny X-Force these days and before that it was just whatever was part of Messiah Complex through 2nd Coming which only made sense to include him.

That's how I avoid the overexposure. By simply reading what interests me. I read the recent avengers stuff and it was silly for more reasons than just Wolverine, IMO (the recent series that focused on Kang coming back and the Hood getting the infinity gauntlet)

I will admit to enjoying the New Avengers series, which to me, was just a reason to include all the most popular Marvel Heroes on one team. DC's done it plenty of times, but hey business is business when you want to increase your unit market share in this industry.

That's true. Batman and Robin was infinitely more terrible than XMO: Wolverine

But to be honest, Batman in his universe would be Illuminati level in terms of what hero's get consulted for world threatening dangers. Anyone in that position is going to be placed in a position of great potential to screw up big. So this isn't even a fair comparison.

Iron Man for example is that guy who, when he screws up, the world feels it. Batman and Brother Eye, Tower of Babel type stuff...C'mon Wolverine stabs things. You know that's not even a fair statement to make given the character attributes.

At least B&R had a nifty "suit up" scene for Alicia Silverstone! But the lest said about the pre-nolen batfilms the better. -=shudder=-

You know, I wasn't even thinking about Brother Eye. I'd forgotten about that.
I'm not sure what some of those things you reference are. Outside of the realworld conspiracy myths, I don't know what the Illuminati are, or what they have to do with this. Or the Tower of Babel.
However, even in Gotham, Batman has made terrible mistakes, especially with those he loves. And even his villains.
Wolverine can Snikt Spiderman in the gut after trying to hit on MJ, and only gets a slap on the wrist. (Well, aside from Peter bitchslapping him into a fetal ball, until Pete passed out from bloodloss. However, he never really got any punishment from the avengers, to the best of my knowledge.)
And while the likes of Batman and Ironman may cause global crisis, Wolverine many times ends up being it's savior, no matter how little sense it makes in the grander picture (Speaking specifically of Wolverine being the only one to know the House of M was wrong.)
There's a Shortpacked comic years ago about X-Men United that pretty much sums up how I feel about Wolvie. His sweat smells like roses, there's always reeses peanutbutter cups in his pockets, everyone loves him, and there's a big floating butt taking a dump on Cyclops, lol

Illuminati is the code name for Marvel's brain trust. Some of the members include Tony Stark, Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, Dr. Strange and others. Basically, these are the guys who are consulted when it comes to global threats.

They're also the ones who came up with the brilliant idea of launching the Hulk into space when he was deemed a global threat.

True, but it backfired in a major way the second time. I guess they're only (meta) human.

Thanks.
Though I'd been told Tony Stark did that pretty much on his own, so he could start the BS that lead to the civil war.
(And to be clear, I don't mean "BS" as my personal opinion on the story.)
