Multibillionaire industrialist Tony Stark has lived a double life as the hero Iron Man for decades. He is an engineering genius, the best weapons designer on the planet. He personally builds every iteration of the Iron Man armor, trusting no one but himself with the powerful technology he harnesses. He has used his dual role for both personal gain and the glory of mankind, as a solo adventure, and a founding member of the Avengers.

When news first hit of a new Marvel Line in 3 3/4 scale I instantly cleared a shelf and made room. Well today I got to add my first Fury Files Figures to their new home. I have a feeling there will be many more to follow in the near future.

The new packaging is similar to the G.I. Joe 25th/ Modern Era Line of Action Figures also produced by Hasbro Inc. There are a few very cool design features that I would like to point out. The first is a numbering system that I hope becomes a Hasbro Boys Toys Standard. The first figure in the line is Iron Man 001 ending with Human Torch 011 (for Wave 1). The second is going to be very useful while searching out figures while on peg hooks at your local retailer. If you notice it the package images above, you will see each figure has a picture thumb nail and its series number located on the side profile. This is a very useful design when looking for a new character you are missing.

Iron Man: When I first saw this figure online I will admit I had second thoughts about the design. Now that I have him in-hand I can honestly say its one of the best Iron Man toys ever made. The construction of the new Marvel Universe Fury Files is similar to G.I. Joe 25th/ Modern Era Body style with lots of articulation and detail.

As you can see from the pictures above you can do some of the signature Iron Man poses and the yellow weapon blast accessory works well with very litte effort in setting up the pose. All of the joints are super tight allowing for maximum balance when you decide to change the position of the figure.

The one thing that I hope gets corrected is figures stands. The new Fury Files Marvel Figures do have the new standard peg hole and will fit onto G.I. Joe Stands. It would be a good feature for Hasbro to include a stand with each package.

Over all I would score this figure a solid 9 out of 10. The detail from front to back added with a tight solid body construction makes this a winner. I would have liked to see more gear included but all things come to those who support. If we buy these Hasbro can only make them better in the future. Don't take my word for it, see for yourself when these hit in March 2009.

Hasbro has a massive success on their hands. There is a lot of hype and buzz around the web about this line. Not only are the Marvel core base of fans talking, so are Star Wars, Transformers and G.I. Joe boards. I have a feeling this line will span and hit a cord with all of these fan bases. I just hope Hasbro and the rest of the retailers understand the demand that this line is going have. Nobody wants to wait 3 months for a restock on Wave 1. Hasbro if your reading this GREAT JOB! Retailers be ready for March Madness 2009!

Stay Tuned to The Toyark for the Complete break-down of Marvel Universe Classics Fury Files 2009 Waves 1 and 2. Next Up Spider-Man Series 002.

This scale makes it easier and more affordable to create a Hall of Armors for Iron Man! I actually like the stealth version a great deal(the blue repaint), I will probably buy both.

Iron Man looks fantastic. It's going to be hard to resist buying any of these.

I just hope they do a Version of Iron Man with Armor that is removable and can be used with other Iron Man figures that also have removable Armor.

There are no words to describe how impressed I am with Wave 1 and how solid the sculpting and just how sturdy the joints are. I'm sold, I will take 2 of each!

So, if you've got the 5 figs, can we expect most awesome pics of awesome figs tomorrow?

What are your thoughts on comparing this fig to the DCIH figs?

I will try to post Silver Surfer and The Punisher tomorrow. The complete first wave should be done by the end of the week.

Damn! Seeing all these 3 3/4 figures really makes me regret the day I sold most of Star Wars and GI Joe figures. The sculpts and designs on these look amazing.
Will these be costing the same amount as the 25th ann. Joes?

I was over there today when the figs were opened and the pics taken. Got to play around with Iron Man, Spiderman, Punisher, Silver Surfer, Wolverine, and Black Panther.

They are all solid figs, a bit bulkier than the Joe 25th line. I like how each have different body construction. Some have the double jointed knees, some don't. Some have a chest joint for leaning forward, backward - some just have waist twisting capability. Each figure is unique (so far) mold wise, all done it seems to make that particular figure the best it can be rather than just Frankenstein-ing them together from pre-existing parts. Now, we will see how they do it as we move forward, they might end up doing just that eventually.

Overall seem to display well with the Joe and Star Wars size figures, I can easily see a Snake Eyes vs Black Panther showdown on the shelf at some point.

One thing I did notice that isn't all roses - they generally feel a bit more "kiddy" than the 25th line does. I think the 25th line have very slim, detailed body frames and faces which in turn give off more of a collectors appeal. These are more blocky, chubby in overall feel. So when displayed together, they have a different tone than the 25th Joe line. Don't get me wrong, they do have articulation and detail above most 3 3/4ths figures, just in a different way.

Personally, I don't know if I will grab the entire line, but it isn't because of the toys. They are top notch. I just don't have a connection to these characters, and the brand as a whole is so large that having a completionist level display wouldn't make sense for me. I will definitely be picking up key figures, characters I like and have at least somewhat followed.

From a pure figure perspective - Out of Iron Man, Spiderman, Punisher, Silver Surfer, Wolverine, and Black Panther - I think Spiderman, Silver Surfer, and Wolverine are tops.

That's about it, Later!

Heck yea man, that was the best aspect of the mid-90's Toybiz Iron Man line! The potential for customization with that aspect is limitless! The 6" figures didn't have it, but at this scale, I definitely think it can be brought back, heck the minimates have it!

The sturdiness was a primary concern, especially with those of us like myself that had the Toybiz Superhero Showdown figures, and witnessed first hand the fragility and flimsy joints. I am glad to here that the Universe figures are sturdy!

These seem to take on a more comic book aesthetic/exagerrated approach as opposed to the realistic approach for the G.I. Joe line.

I think Wolverine will rule he is even in his current X-Force costume, and comes with the Muramasa sword, the sword he used to behead Sabretooth last year!

I must have this guy. Iron Man is my favorite Marvel superhero and I haven't had a non-heroclix version of Iron Man this good since the old 3 3/4 line(I can't remember what it was called, I only bought the Iron Man :P)

This figure looks astoundingly good.

I won't be grabbing the entire line either. I think I will be doing the same thing I've been doing with the Joe line: That's buying the figures that actually mean anything to me, and doing the one-off of really cool characters. I was a huge Spiderman and X-men fan, so I'll be buying anything that comes out of those two comics. As of right now, I've preordered everything except Punisher, both Torches and Silver Surfer, mostly because I never liked the comics. Of course, I bought doubles of Spiderman and Wolverine to keep MOSC These will be the first Spiderman and Wolverine toys I've owned in a very long time.

I really hope the supply on these puppies is adequate, cause there's nothing worse than trying to preorder something or find someting in the store only to have it sold out before you can even blink.

AWRIIIIIIGHT! I am all over these. I wasn't a huge fan of the Superhero Showdown because they fell apart left and right. But hell, if these are as durable as GI Joes and to scale? AWESOME. Thanks for the review!!

Nice pics, Destro!

I doubt I'll go completionist with these (what with TFs and Joes already depleting my wallet), but I will definitely pick up some of my favorite characters.

I am stoked about Iron Man, Wolverine and Spider-Man. Even the Surfer looks appealing. Maybe I'll pick him up for my buddy (he's a huge FF fan).
