I really appreciate that they did this, and hopefully everybody takes this survey. And hopefully Hasbro listens.

It was it was actually a rather entertaining survey, and I am now curious if some of the items that were shown off during the interest portion of the survey are things that are actually on their slate such as FX editions of Ahsoka's lightsabers, or a General Grievous Black Series deluxe figure.

Really enjoyed this, I wish companies would do this more. I even suggested that they make a Bossk and Ezra Bridger figure! That would be SICK!

There's a special place in hell for anyone who told them that it's okay to pay more than $21 for a non-deluxe Black Series figure.

Yeah but I think that's Hasbros existing price. The re/etailers actually mark down. Unless its Darth Revan and then screw it.

There already was a Bossk in the 6 inch. Ezra is supposedly coming as well.

Okay, looking further, if you're gonna give me a $25 Calrissian, he better come with a miniature can of Colt 45 and a toy stuffed Lobot.

And $35 Grievious? No sir.

20 POA Chewie? Sure, why not.

And my other category? A Yoda that's not $20 for a 1/4 of the plastic, with the worst headsculpt.

some of the suggestions make sense. I asked for Mara Jade in the 6 inch. I'd also love to see Maz Kanata

No, we don't. Half the numbers are Troopers. If anything I'd say keep the numbering system and put all troopers into their own.

The one thing I thought was most important wasn't really drilled into, and there was no final "other thoughts" box.

The main problem I've had with Black Series of late - paint. It's all about sculpt and paint.

I can handle less articulation.
I don't care too much about accessories unless they are key.
Soft goods - rarely want it. But when done, should be top of the line.

The key for me is multiple, layered paint applications, weathering. And specifically on the heads. I don't want raw plastic, single tone hair, and two googlie eye pupils.

Skin tone painted, eyes, eyebrows, lips (if needed) painted on top. Hair two tone.

This is an example of sculpt and paint on the head. And to tell the truth, it's not even as bad as it has been on others.

I see these, and it immediately dejects me when I hit the stores...

I understand that doing this on a mass produced scale while keeping costs down to @20-25 a pop is probably not achievable. BUT - step it up, get closer to that. That's all I care about. Sculpt and paint.

^ Definitely agree, which is why I said that I would pay more for figures (apparently i'm destined to burn in the inner circle of hell) If it means paying a few more dollars, i'm down.

I also spammed the crap out of General Grievous in my survey, because he is my most wanted figure from them right now. I will most definitely pay them a "deluxe" price if that means that they will produce a good figure.

Agree for the most part. I'll pay more, but really only for paint and sculpt upgrades. Don't care about articulation beyond what we have, massive accessory add ons. Im cool with larger scale figs at different price points, if it makes sense. Don't want a new scale to collect. 6 Inch only.

Get half way to old boy heads, toss some fancier robes in there, increase overall body paint when needed, use quality plastics, done.

Given how much sculpting and articulation would be required to make a good Grievous, not to mention a minimum of two lightsabers (four would be ideal) and a decent cloak? I think he'd be worth a premium price.

Given the individual paint jobs on a lot of the 'named' clone troopers in Clone Wars? Yes, we do. And removable helmets with individualized head sculpts.

Given that all of those are hand-painted prototypes, it's not likely. I agree that we need better paint and sculpts, but expecting things like those images for retail price is a bit of a pipe dream.

Hmm, I like the offer, but the survey seemed to have a big ol' 6 inch bias to it. There were barely any questions relating to the 3.75 inch Black series, and it seemed to be assumed that I buy the 6 inch Black series when I do not.

One question got me a bit worried, though. The question that asked, "If the Black Series could only exist in ONE scale, which scale would you prefer?" I know most people would vote 6 inch, so I'm wondering if Hasbro is trying to create the argument that people don't want the 3.75 inch Black series, so they can just sweep it under the rug.

But that's just me looking into things possibly a bit too deeply.

NECA does it. I mean, their stuff isn't on the level of the customs you linked, but they're leagues better than Hasbro's offerings and they're pretty close to the same price.

I agree about the paint. When I talk to friends about collecting Star Wars in the 6 inch scale I recommend Hasbro only for troopers or characters who don't have exposed faces.

The other sad thing is that Hasbro's sculpting isn't that bad. As you can see from those pics you linked, the sculpts hold up really well if you show them a little bit of love. Problem is I don't see many people going out and literally customizing every human head they get from this line.

Another thing I think we should hammer home as a community is just how awful softgoods look on medium to low priced collectibles. Hell, even Hot Toys struggles to pull off a good look with cloth sometimes. My point is that Hasbro seems to have an obsession with throwing in as much baggy, awful looking cloth as they can on otherwise great toys and this shit needs to stop. That or someone needs to tell them that not all clothing fits like MC Hammer pants from the early 90's.

Oh I know, agree with you there. I said as much in my post. I'm saying though, on a mass produced level, they need to up their game. Get half way there. Something. What's been coming out is not to snuff. Wave 1,2,3 of Black Series was better head wise, and it should have gotten better from there, not worse.

Neca does come close, I don't know how they do what they do at their price point actually.

to the people up there^^ that would "pay a few extra bucks"

nah fellow posters, you guys see it wrong and may ruin it for other people. we shouldn't have to pay more for anything. the quality should be better for the already established price-point. i dont like where this is going.

i hope no one agreed they needed a "fancier" box... man thats just corporate BS to justify a price increase

also why do people act like 3.75 black series was the first time hasbro ever made 3.75 figures with a lot of articulation???

where were all of yall from 2002-2012????
this used to be the STANDARD then some JJ Abrums lackey was like "I GREW UP IN THE 70S WITH BO BO STAR WARS FIGURES SO NOW THEY SHOULD ALL HAVE 5 POA LIKE WHEN I WAS A KID" BS so they pulled that stunt...when the figures were 12+POA for more than a decade......

does anyone remember TAC??? the anniversary collection??? like hello....is this thing on????

VOTE NO TO FANCIER PACKAGING

VOTE NO TO ANY PRICE INCREASE

YOU GUYS GIVE HASBRO AN INCH AND THEY ARE GONNA TAKE A MILE

ID BUY THAT CHEWIE FOR 8.99-9.99. do they really need the extra dollar? just make it 9.99.

i just don't see where this "no one buys 3.75" stuff came from......WHY PRODUCE SOOOO MANY LINES FROM 2002-2012 IF NO ONE LIKES THEM

am i crazy???? man am i the only one that doesn't see through this Board Room Share holder talk????

i was extremely pissed when i saw those 5POA REBELS figures....i knew it was the downfall

I was just given the code at the end of the survey. I have yet to receive an email though.

I agree, MUfan97, from the way they worded that survey it sounds like they mostly have the 6" scale in mind when looking forward with this license. I mean, I know we have a lot of 3.75" die-hards around here (hell, I used to be one myself), so I'm not trying to piss on anyone's parade... but Hasbro is almost certainly trying to phase that scale out. That or relegate it away from "adult collector" status to "children's toy" status.

Again, I'm not trying to shit on your preferred scale, I'm just trying to understand understand why you guys stick with it despite the major cutbacks in sculpt, paint and (most painfully) articulation along with an INCREASE in price. Once they started scaling the quality back in early 2015 or so I saw the writing on the walls and bailed.

The code is stated very clearly on-screen, more than once, in CAPITAL LETTERS, immediately upon completion of the survey.

I agree with the discussion above: sculpt and paint come first. All else is secondary. Substandard paint in particular has saved me money.

Thanks, Joe, for pointing out the survey!

Didn't Marvel Legends receive a similar treatment when Hasbro first got the Marvel license? The collectors didn't ditch then, so why should we ditch when MU gets a similar treatment? That kinda applies to all of the lines in general, really. I think MU just attracted a lot of 6 inch stragglers initially, and those guys are dropping off.

1Problem with the highly detailed paint is they take longer which means fewer sales.
That also means less than the market demands and having to buy from scalpers on ebay for $100 a pop for good ones.
