What if Hasbro cancelled the latest Marvel Universe Figure waves?

Was thinking of this morning, only because Hasbro cancelled 2 Transformers DOTM figures they were supposedly going to release.

That and I'm still a semi new collector, and when I first started collecting the dates that they had for the release were pretty solid up until Wave 17.

I sure hope not. This is all speculation, but personally I think they intentionally held back MU to sell more Legends and maybe even some Avengers 3.75" figs. Someone like myself who likes to buy new things, and has a little extra $ to do so, can't go months without not buying something.. I bought about 5 Legends. Had new MU been sitting on the pegs next to Legends then I probably would've only bought 2.. or none.

I know for a fact that people in these boards have bought some Avengers figures they didn't plan on getting just because there's nothing else new out. Hasbro is smart.

I agree with this assessment. They have been putting out the ML stuff more recent than mu and the avenger line too. MU is still king for hasbro 3.75 marvel line up. They know collectors are rolling on a budget so they are staggering their releases and trying to get us into buying ML to add to our collection habits. Those sneaky bastards.

Y'know, Hasbro had a great thing going with the 4 inch line. Why dilute your market by adding the Legends line? Didn't that already crap out once? The 6 inchers are beautiful but they didn't support themselves and you had to let them go. The 4 inchers were $money$ and your nearest competitor wasn't making anything to challenge you. Things were running fine. Apologies, needing my plastic-crack hit and there's nothing out there for me right now.

ive put in too much time and money on these figs. I hope they dont cancel it.....ill have nothing else to collect. Now that tf generations has kinda fizzled out till the fall, MU is the only reason for me to even visit the toy isles.

Some ppl are actually excited about ML being back. When I was at the panel for hasbro at SDCC last year, the whole room was thanking hasbro for bringing it back. Its all what each collector wants to get into. Myself, I'm a 3.75 collector mainly for the different lines that can crossover. They won't cancel it. Marvel universe has such a great following.

If MU were to be cancelled, then I'd probably just put the money I would usually spend on it back into my Transformers collecting.

Well that's all on you guys. Marvel isn't the only thing we discuss, even if it doesn't seem like that.

I collect both lines but MU is clearly the long term viable line that Hasbro has to stick with. It has great crossover appeal with the movie lines and honestly they could release several waves a year for the next 5 years and still have characters and themes to spare. Plus they haven't even touched on playsets to vehicles which are much more practical in the 33/4 scale.

I love the legends line as the figures are beautiful and detailed, but as far as collecting goes at this point MU has much more going for it. (availability, price, size, crossover, etc.)

Actually, the closest TRU to me hasn't gotten any new MU in months, and when I asked the manager 2 weeks ago, he was "definitely" sure that the line had been cancelled. So I told him he was wrong and left, but still, maybe he knew something, somehow?

No, he wasn't. He was kind of an asshole, but he was sure the avengers line replaced MU. But he was just a local manager, so whatever.

It's probably just pushed back to push the avengers line forward some. It'll probably kick back over come June.

You have to remember, sometimes MU is slow one year while fast another year. Last year was a fast and heavy year, so this year might be slower.

Hopefully the Beast wave will hit come april or may. It better hit though since Nova, Beast, and Jubilee are all figures I'm dying to get.

seems like the same thing that happen with the legends. even tho they have shown new MU figs at con's doesn't mean they would be released. when the legends was suppose to make a comeback 2yrs ago i think they had some up in a display case and so far a few has been released, but no brother voodoo or amazing bagman spiderman. all im saying is that if they cancelled the legends to focus on MU then they might cancel MU to focus on legends this time

I dont agree at all- when a new wave drops, everything is pics of peple's scores or lamenting not finding anything- the downtimes means more Arker's posing their figs and sharing pics and tons more customs.

I have a feeling this is EXACTLY what happened. I held out though.. nothing in the Avengers line interested me. Id love to get Legends.. but I would bust my bank because I KNOW Id have to get all the previous waves too.

(plus the wife would blow an o-ring)

You mean TF Prime. RiD was a TF line from 2000. The deluxe and voyager Prime toys are the only ones that have the new "Robots in Disguise" logo on them, but all Prime toys have the "Transformers Prime" logo.

Unless of course you're actually going back and picking up vintage toys from over ten years ago (I recommend the Trainbots, Optimus, Ultra Magnus and the Car Bros.).

TF Generations/FoD is due out this fall (most are assuming somewhere around August or September).
