hello all
some of you may have have seen that I'm making a stop-motion movie (poster here + updates). So i thought if i could get your opinions on what makes a good superhero film out the ones that have been released or something different you might want to see in a film.
Also bad points within a film which you may not of liked within these films.
The film will be marvel based mainly with a lot of references from the internet , games , comics , etc.
Please keep arguments small, i know there will be some.
Many thanks

One the things that bothered me with Dark Knight Rises are the plot holes. An even consistent story that is cohesive is a big deal.

To me... it's how well the creators hold onto the spirit of the character they're adapting. It's not nessisarily about how accurate it is.
Arrow and the Dark Knight Trilogy are great examples of this.
Both have a lot of changes to them that make them less accurate to their comic counterparts, but both are cases to make it a better fit for adaptation, to make them work better in the more real-world settings a live action project brings... but both keep to the heart of the character.
Watching Arrow, I never once get the feeling "This is okay... but that's not Ollie," like I did with Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie, or Peter Parker in Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy.
And it's not because Oliver Queen is represented more accurately in Arrow, than those others. He's really not, especially since he kills pretty easily.. But its that they really seem to understand the character and the concept better. And the changes made are in order to make the adaptation work better.

What I can't stand, are changes that are made just to make changes: The previous four Batman films, Burton's failed take on Superman, these are pretty good examples.

I believe that a large part of what makes a superhero film great is the villain. If the villain has weak characterization or weak motives, the film will definitely suffer. "The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture." -Alfred Hitchcock

Character development for me, I think the audience has to feel or react to the individuals actions. Almost like they are in the movie.

First story. Second character. Visually stunning is a must too, but this does not necessarily mean big budget cgi. Also casting should be right for the parts not just box office draw potential.

Hello Everybody new hear thought I put in my two cents.

I think superhero movies should be fun and true to the character. With the right amount of action and comedy. I think the Iron Man movies do this well. Liberty are fine as long as it does not contradicts the character personality traits or overall look of the films. One thing that bother me about the last Batman movie was the fact that Bruce Wayne stop being Batman for six years, that something Bruce Wayne would never do.

He did it in The Dark Knight Returns, and that was for 10 years. And in that book, it was also due to a "tragic loss". Granted, it wasn't canon, but it's most likely where Nolan got the idea.

Its all about the super villain. Dark Knight was the best in the recent batman trilogy purely because of Heath Ledger, who put in a better performance than Bale did in all 3 films.

It's all about character and depth. Don't stick with worn out stereotypes. Always ask why your characters are doing the things that they do. Villains are villains for a reason. Same with heroes.
