@SeanC the only thing that was cool was the little "item" at the end of the movie. I also enjoyed the humor between Thomas Jane and Kegan Key, but even they were underutilized.

Halloween (2018)—meh. Thought it would actually be a little better but it's not. Not worth retconning Halloween II for, which is a much better film. Bad acting here, too much of a clean modern look the film. Just had so many problems with this movie, it didn't feel like Halloween. And like I said it didn't live up to its arrogance of being the "true" Halloween sequel.

House of Dark Shadows
I've never seen the old shows or the Johnny Depp movie. But it was okay, for early 70's almost-cheese. Maybe some bad editing.

VENOM Better than I expected. Hardy sells it. Villain was not great. We need to get past evil versions of the protagonist...but then, Venom was sort of an evil Spider-Man to begin with, so...

Oh, according to the movie's science, we'll all be dead within a generation. Predators said 2! Next movie I see will probably tell us we'll be dead by next tuesday.

Nice Stan Lee cameo.

I think dark versions of heroes can be really great, they just have to be done right. The villain in Venom could have really been something but he was a little too generic.

They had 5 different symbiotes to pick from and for some reason they went with Riot who was pretty much the blandest of the bunch. Scream or Lasher would've been a way better choice.

Friday the 13th Part II

Pretty good. Not as good as I wish it was.

Friday the 13th Part III

Bad. Bad bad bad. Hard to believe this was directed by the same guy as Part II as it has a totally different feel and Jason himself feels like a totally different person despite it taking place moments after Part II. Really kinda hated this one. So overhyped.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

Wow, much better than I remember. Pretty damn great actually, a huge improvement over Part III. Jason again feels different despite it picking up moments after its predecessor, but here I feel the changes are very good so I roll with them. This director has a great sense of style, and the cinematography is so good, and the teenage characters are never better than here. They're all very fleshed out and the dialogue is good and you even come to love some of them and feel very bad when they die. And Corey Feldman is great. This movie is legendary.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

What a weird, obscure, mixed bag of a movie even all these years later. I still watch it in my marathons, but damn. Still don't know what to make of it. Has some good moments but also some infuriating ones.

I didn't hate The Predator as much as some. Not at all, actually. I recently rewatched the original Ah-nold version, and it holds up as a nice example of survival-action entertainment...nicely paced and a fun way to empty your brain for a couple of hours. The irony of replacing special forces with "special" forces in The Predator was something I found amusing. Or maybe I just have a soft spot for Shane Black movies. The humor made the flick work for me.

My wife is usually my litmus for these kinds of movies. She's more a Downton Abbey, This is Us viewer, with no particular interest in these kinds of movies, so if she says she liked it, then I take note. Neither of us thought the reviews were representative.

Predators...that one I liked a lot, too. It's a shame that that story line never got developed.

We both liked Venom as well, or at least the last half hour. The last-half-hour Venom, that guy should have had more of the movie.

Got Venom for Christmas (the Steelbook has some awesome cover art) and have now watched it twice. Really fun movie even if they bungled it a bit at the end. Hey here's Riot, now watch them fight for about a minute, oh wait it's over. Just felt rushed. Loved the rest of the movie. Eddie's interactions with the Symbiote were great.

Still think Scream or Lasher would've at least made the end "fight" visually better since it'd be easier to tell them apart from Venom. Anyway time for some MAXIMUM CARNAGE!

I just finished The Predator and I was digging the movie until the new stupid Predator showed up. I hated it, the way they screwed with the history of the Predators, and that lameass War Machine knock-off at the end.

Aquaman- liked it but did not love it. Best DC movie though for me.

Glass-Loved most everything about it except the ending, which was somewhat infuriating. Overall though a good end to the trilogy aside from that and the fight scenes were incredible. M Night Shyamalan is so awesome and I'm glad he's back to making good movies. Can't wait to buy this trilogy when it becomes a blu ray boxset

Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse: Thought it was okay. Pretty good at times. But made me wish I was watching the prime universe. It's heavily implied that the universe in which the film takes place is not the prime one, and a lot of things about it bothered me.

Greta. I deal with depression and I found this movie really upsetting and did not like it. It was decently made but I really did not enjoy it.

The Rocketeer - excellent movie, good action. big fan of jennifer connelly & the WW2 era.
didnt like that they showed him fumbling with his flying all the way till the end, he should have gotten it down pat at the end. would be awesome if they made figures of him and the tall goon guy and give him a wrench as a weapon like the movie.

Funko actually made a figure of the Rocketeer himself a few years back. I forgot all about it, wish I had picked it up.

Captain Marvel - 8.5/10

Not the best MCU film, but up there with Iron Man as the best origin story. Above all else it captured the essence of the character perfectly and Brie Larson did a fantastic job in the role.
I was very impressed with how they were able to simplify and streamline Carol Danvers rather complex comic backstory for the film without discarding any of the fundamentals as well.

Captain Marvel—quite disappointed with this one. I enjoyed some aspects of the movie, but I felt Captain Marvel and especially Fury were too silly. Also, this isn't really a spoiler, but the way Fury lost his eye really pissed me off.

Captain Marvel:
I really enjoyed the film. Nothing exponentially groundbreaking, but still another great addition to the MCU. Liked the subverted origin story approach for Carol's transformation, and I was so glad there was no love-interest foil. Overall, pretty outstanding cast with humor that was appropriate and actually balanced well with the story.

Happy Death Day 2U—Nowhere near as good as the original. Had some good moments, but it was so different (not really in a good way) that I thought it was directed by someone else. Surprisingly it wasn't, but it was written by the director himself where as the original was not which gave me some solace. I really enjoyed the original, and it is best enjoyed without watching this one. Just watch the original and call it a day.

Thor—Nowhere near as good as I remember. The acting is quite bad for the most part, the CGI is really bad, the hair and makeup is terrible (Thor and Volstagg have very obvious wigs), the camerawork is amateur (sloppy Dutch angles every chance they get, and not always for an apparent reason), cheesy music, bad sets (the town they shot in is clearly a ghost town dressed up to look lived in, yet one can see it's so tiny that there wouldn't be so many people and with lots of technology) etc. The only real standouts are the costumes, which are indeed professional-grade and quite stellar (in fact my favorite costumes for Thor, Loki and co. next to Infinity War), and Loki himself, who is handled quite well and has the best scenes and performances.

I plan on skipping this one on my next marathon.
