TMNT: the movie - excellent movie, perfection. there is a part where you can see a guy in the suit in the bathroom scene with donatello. when he laughs you can see the guy in the mouth with glasses lol have always been a fan of Jim henson, he is the master of puppets, those suits are superb!!!

Captain America The First Avenger: I had to turn it off. I tried really hard, but I just can't enjoy that movie, I hate it's style and portrayal of Cap and the world. There are a handful of really great scenes but overall as a movie I would much rather watch something else. To be skipped in future marathons.

The Avengers- Every time I watch this movie the less I like it. I find it to be a mediocre affair, from the acting, to the weird costumes to the ABC television look and feel to everything....it's just not good. I think I'm honestly just going to skip it next time.

It was one I'm glad I skipped at theaters. It felt like paint by numbers to get Cap set-up to appear in The Avengers. I actually saw Avengers before Captain America and Thor, and I wasn't worse for it.

While Cap's origins tie into the war in Europe, it irritates me when war against the Japanese never gets mentioned, and that was the fight that was personal to most Americans.

I do like Stan Lee's cameo, though.

Yeah....they really botched his WW2 days. MCU Cap's past is best left to the imagination.

It's unavoidable for that very reason. Captain America was introduced literally punching Nazis in the face, any retelling of his origin is going to focus on the war in Europe regardless of other factors.

Shazam again. Enjoyed it more this time around. Just a good, fun movie. DC is really on the right track.

I saw Shazam a couple of days ago. I really liked it, not my favorite DC movie, but still a really good one.

Saw Shazam and it was excellent. i was afraid of how they were gonna do the whole shazam family thing but it was better than expected. the costume was awesome, i remember there were some people complaining about the costume even before the movie came out? but it looked good to me. the great fight scenes reminded me of superman

Endgame. Saw it the second time yesterday, and really came around more on the time travel aspect. I liked it better this time around, and would actually rank it 2nd in the entire MCU.

Only issues are some of the time travel stuff doesn't really rub me the right way, and Iron Man isn't in it enough for me. They focused on Cap a lot in this one, and while he is second in importance behind Tony, we must remember that he didn't arrive on the scene until 3 years after Iron Man 1, and a year after Thor. So, it's a little misplaced if you ask me. But the movie is great fun, and I cried my eyes out once again.

Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 Special Edition. All excellent.

And I did a lil' X-Men Retrospective watch.
The first is a real product of it's time, and while groundbreaking at the time is just an okay film from every aspect, (Toad really?)
United is a major improvement in every regard and is remembered as excellent for good reason everytime William Stryker is onscreen it's completely captivating,
almost every main character has an arc and a purpose (apart from Cyclops and Xavier whom are down for the count most of the film)
from Wolverine, Phoenix, Nightcrawler, Storm to Bobby, Rogue and (Magneto and Mystique influence) Pyro.
The Last Stand is, totally redundant at best and at worst it disrespects Mystique's character and torpedoed Rogue's character development,
it wrecked both the cure storyline and Phoenix killed Scott and Jean but everything else remained static for all intents and purposes.

The Wolverine is good, excellent even but that final act brings the whole thing down.
The fight with Shingen Yashida is by far the peak, the Viper and Silver Samurai robot suck and hurt an otherwise great character piece.
All three have excellent scores, but (RIP) Michael Kamen's Logan & Rogue, X-Jet, Checkmate & End Title and John Ottoman's X-Men theme
stand out above the rest although composer John Powell brings a excellent layered Phoenix theme.

Marco Beltrami's entire Wolverine score is brilliant, especially the main theme and,
as John Ottoman on Days Of Future Past, Marco Beltrami on Logan is only an improvement and enhancement.

First Class is near perfect, because of the relationship between Charles Xavier, Erik Lehnsherr, Mystique and Shaw.
Banshee is good fun but otherwise the other characters are immensely one note,
but it doesn't matter so much because the film's really interested in exploring the development of theses characters into their extremist versions of themselves.
Magneto hunting Nazis, and that theme- until Shaw and permanently scarring the relationship between Charles and Erik.
It's a film full of powerful emotions and the most iconic X-Men theme, I'd wager. "I prefer, Magneto." WUB-WUB.

Days of Future Past is perfect, if you don't care for the older X-Men Trilogy much anymore the Theatrical Version is the way to go,
it's also got superior pacing but the "Rogue Version" is ultimately more fulfilling and ties in stronger to both the original Trilogy and First Class.
Characterisation wise, everyone gets the ending most appropriate for them and we get our well deserved happy but believable ending after all the turmoil of the past.

Logan is a masterpiece, but it's good to know it's completely standalone and a representation of a possible future.

I don't count X-Men Origins, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, I might rewatch them in the future but
I'd consider them non-canon as they only really harm the continuity and the overall saga by the end of their runtime.
Origins is fun if you're intoxicated, but shouldn't be taken seriously in any respect. It's pure unadulterated schlock garbage.

But I think the series had a good run overall.
I'll be watching the "Legion" series once it's finished.

Apocalypse does not harm the continuity really at all. I will agree that Origins and Dark Phoenix have issues however.

Yesterday- great movie. One of my top 3 films of this year. Didn't know it was directed by Danny Boyle going in, but it makes sense now because he has such a great track record and is responsible for one of my other favorite films, 127 Hours.

Dark Phoenix- I enjoyed myself, but it did have issues. What happened to Moira McTaggert? That was my biggest issue. Not even a mention, after all that effort to bring her back into Charles' life. The reshoots were also noticeable due to Charles' baldcap. Didn't like Jean fakeout sacrificing herself again, and didn't like the school being named after her. And would it have killed them to make the actors look their age? Charles and Erik are supposed to be pushing 60. It wouldn't have killed them to put some grey in Erik's hair. Also, wish the aliens were skrulls because that's clearly what they were intended to be. But anyways, there were some really good moments. I think the reshoots were mostly improvements based on what I have read. And overall I think it's a much better telling of the Phoenix story than The Last Stand.

I think THE LAST STAND was better overall.

DARK PHOENIX SPOILERS:
The big problem is the aliens. They felt shoehorned in, so that humanity and/or Jean herself wouldn't be the enemy. It's oddball to add aliens to the franchise after all this time in the very last movie (maybe not intended to be the last movie). That the other problem, suddenly after years of heroics by the X-Men, THE ENTIRE WORLD turns against all mutants because Jean Grey hurts some cops (and kills someone, but it's a mutant, so normies won't care). Somehow the X-Men had prevented any such mutant incidents for the past 10 years...I guess.

The cure plot in Last Stand fit the franchise better than aliens who want phoenix force and will...*gag* destroy Earth if they get it...BECAUSE EVIL ALIENS. There's always gotta be something like that. High stakes in comic book movies are so common now that they are boring.

And how much can we care about NuJean, after appearing in one movie before, compared to Famke's Jean?

And the whole aging thing. Beast is like 50 but doesn't act like it.

Magneto's allies were once again disposable one-off non-entities.

Aw man, how could you? The Last Stand is so bad!
Ah well, to each their own.

It's too bad they didn't get to do a sequel where some of the original cast could have played the characters again due to aging. Kelsey Grammer never got enough time to shine as Beast, he was so great.

The Lion King- ugh. Guys, this is one of my favorite movies of all time and they went and had to remake it and ruin it. The movie is not good. In fact, it was so boring at times I walked out and paced, only to come back to see some of my favorite musical segments, except...you know....worse than the original versions of them. A lot of the voice cast is really miscast, I don't know why the original Timon and Pumbaa actors were not brought back, they were iconic. The only new actor that did a good job was John Oliver as Zazu. I still do prefer Rowan Atkinson but he did do a good job. Also, there is something really special that is lost in translation to a "realistic" style. Just isn't the same. As much as I love Jon Favreau, he was really out of wing to make this movie, it's a disservice to the original and a poor imitation. Seriously, I hope we all forget this movie happened and just watch the real Lion King in the future, it's better for everybody and especially kids.

Yea I do not see why Disney is remaking classic animated films but life action, and they’ve all been terrible. I only saw two Dumbo and The shit stain that is Aladdin, and was extremely disappointed.

Watched the Hellboy remake last night and I really don't know how to feel about it. I liked the new guy playing HB and some of the action was pretty solid but overall it was just...weird. I've heard there was a lot of BS behind the scenes so maybe that's why.

The scene that shows Hellboy as the destroyer of worlds riding a demon dragon and wielding Excalibur was badass though.

I actually liked Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin better than the originals, but most of them I don't see the point of remaking as they are inferior.

I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood tonight. This was definitely the weakest Tarantino I've ever seen. The plot's a bit of a mess and I'm not really sure how to explain it without explaining the whole movie from beginning to end. Both Leo and Pitt are great but most of the actors in the movie, including Margot Robbie who plays Sharon Tate, have very little screen time. I would say that most actors get around 5 minutes total. I enjoyed watching the movie but I would recommend going when you can get cheaper seats so that you don't pay too much.

I had the opposite reaction to Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. I thought it was awesome! Dragged a bit, as all Tarantino films do, but I really liked it, especially the unexpected ending. I'm usually not much into Tarantino films at all (I hate Pulp Fiction), but I really enjoyed this. I saw it on Sunday, and it brightened an otherwise shitty day.

That’s a little strong. It wanders a bit and ties several stories together, but I wouldn’t say it’s a story about nothing. It’s a classic, that is probably one of the most rewatchable movies ever made.

I’m going to take a chance on Hobbs and Shaw tomorrow. I’m not expecting much, but I’m a Rock and Statham mark so I’ll watch it no matter how bad it is.
