The Flash
I enjoyed it overall but it's not without problems. The second and third acts are the best thanks to Michael Keaton as Batman and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. The two them along with Ezra Miller's original Barry make for a good team. Ezra did a good job of making Flashpoint Barry feel unique but I found this version of the character annoying. I have two problems with the film. First, the CGI in several places does not look good. It's very much in PS3/Xbox 360 video game territory. I think they bit off more than they could chew, particularly with creating the speed force. Second, the first act of the movie is overstuffed. The whole point of the movie is Barry accidentally creating a Flashpoint universe and trying to get home. The scenes with Barry's job and Iris could have been cut while the opening action sequence could have been shortened. Overall, it's a mid-tier DCEU movie. It's good enough for me to watch it again but it clearly wasn't firing on all cylinders. |

Triangle (2009)
Damn, what a movie. Might be one of my favorites now. Best to go in blind.

The Marvels
On the scale of Horrible-Bad-Ok-Good-Great, I would say that the movie is between Ok and Good. Leaning more towards Good. To get the negative out of the way first, there were a handful of moments where it felt like there were pieces of the movie missing. Most of them were quick shots that would have provided a bit of visual continuity between moments. However, there were a couple of times where it felt like I had missed a conversation. And the villain is completely forgettable. Fury was more comedic. Whether or not you like that will probably be personal taste. I liked it but I can understand if someone else doesn't. On the positive side, Kamala is the heart and star of this film. There were several fun moments in this film with Kamala and her family, the culture of Aladna, the flerkin, and the action that resulted from the 3 heroes switching places. Carol didn't feel over powered like in previous movies. And the mid credits scene was great. Fan service but great. |

Just watched Transformers Rise of the Beasts. Of the four Bayformers films I have watched, this was easily the best of them, though that ain't really saying much. It still had a ton of issues like too much focus on human characters that I don't give a crap about and not enough focus on, well, the Maximals. It's called Rise of the Beasts, but the Beast Wars characters were barely even in the film. They did Airrazor dirty as she didn't even transform into robot mode once. Rhinox and Cheeter never said a single word while Primal barely did anything.
Furthemore, the villains were terrible. We've got three evil robots called Terrorcons, who are there just because they're there. They have no arc, no development, nothing. They're there because the Autobots and Maximals can't fight air. And then they have an entire army of generic drones that do nothing but be CGI porn. Why the hell could we not get any actual Predacons from the show? It's like the people behind this movie didn't even bother to watch Beast Wars, they just took some cool toys and made a movie about them. Yes, you could say that's par for the course for these movies, but people were acting like this was a new coming for the franchise when it was pretty much just more of the same. They also pretend kill Bumblebee, but obviously he isn't going to die since he has to be around to meet Sam in 2007. Oh, and Optimus Prime was an unlikable, racist asshole the entire film. Such a downgrade from what he used to represent. Overall, while it may be the best live action Transformers film to date, it's comparable to say Iron Man 2 in the MCU.

We watched the latest Ninja Turtles movie tonight. It wasn't the worst TMNT movie ever. Much better than both Michael Bay outings. It had a couple of truly funny lines and a montaged action sequence that was legitimately well done. Unfortunately, it was full of a lot of other issues such as completely wasting Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, who is killed like 2 minutes into the damn thing, animation that is headache inducing with it sometimes being hard to tell what is going on, the worst incarnation of Splinter ever, horrible sound mixing that makes it hard to hear dialog at times, and they completely botched up the Utroms by making them violent villains. Still, it wasn't so bad that I would not be willing to watch the sequel at least once (though I would probably skip the theatrical experience like I did here).

Argylle (2024)- 5/10
The movie was decent in its first half. I liked the parts with Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard working together. I also think most of the action during this part of the film was well done. However, the film starts to stumble in the second half when they begin to reveal the plot twists. They make several changes to Bryce Dallas Howard's character during this half of the film. BDH looks like a mom through and through, and it makes the plot twists and changes to her character unbelievable. If they had remained true to how her character was originally presented in the film, it would have finished stronger. The action scenes during the second half of the film feel cheesy and unbelievable. |

TBH I've been wary of Mutant Mayhem because it seems too "Nickelodeon" to me for a lack of a better word.
Thier bizarre animation and gross out humor is what turned me off from them in the 90s/2000s as a kid. |

Evil Dead 2— Amazing still, and really inspires me as a filmmaker. It was my favorite of the series several years ago and still is now on second watch. The ending is epic. It has become one of my favorite movies. I want a figure of Ash now.
Army of Darkness- Colosally disappointing follow-up to Evil Dead 2. It's like a cartoon, and Ash has become self-parody and is no longer the sensitive man from the first two. I couldn't finish it this time around. If anyone ever let me do a new Evil Dead movie I would make a follow-up to the first two and pretend this movie and the show didn't happen. Evil Dead 2013- First time watching this one. Gross. Unnecessary. Brutal. Didn't like it and won't watch again. Gonna watch Evil Dead Rise tomorrow for the first time.

In fairness though this is one of the best depictions of the Turtles themselves from what I've seen of clips right up there with the 2012, Rise and original 90s movie versions for me.

Not surprising I've heard similar complaints about Alien and Terminator before regarding their similar tone shifts. |

Seems he prefers the original horror movie take on Evil Dead rather than the 80s action movie that Army of Darkness turned it into. Not surprising I've heard similar complaints about Alien and Terminator before regarding their similar tone shifts. Given how Evil Dead II ended, Army of Darkness was a natural progression that it was going to have to get more actiony. And then Ash vs the Evil Dead evolved from that. However, yeah, the 2013 remake sucked ass. It should have been called Darwinism The Movie. Rise, on the other hand, was one of last year's best movies.

I don't think Army of Darkness was a natural progression. It's not the action I take issue with at all, that's to be expected. It's the tone. Gone are the dark elements, gone is the elements of groundedness from 2, it's full camp, Ash is self-parody and doesn't feel like the same character, and it's like watching a cartoon. It was very cringey for me to watch.
I liked Evil Dead 2 because it was the perfect marriage of horror and comedy. I'm not really a fan of the first Evil Dead either because it was too horror. Anyways, I think I've said all I can really say on the matter. Oh, and @Power Lord X, I'm a she. And funny enough, I hated the tonal shift of Alien to Aliens, but Terminator 1 to Terminator 2 was a welcome one for me. So it really just depends.

Just watched Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. Gah damn, what a great movie. Fantastic. I didn't think anything could top Afterlife, but this movie did. There is so much rich, rewarding fan service and I don't think I've ever seen it implemented better. It didn't feel cringey or forced like Marvel often does.
My new ranking for the series is: Frozen Empire Afterlife 1 2 It's a good time to be a Ghostbusters fan. Go see the movie!!!

Did you forget the silly camp of the second film like the scene where all of the stuff inside the room is laughing with him? The buckets upon buckets of gore Also, I hardly consider a movie about demons grounded. Quote:

The soundtrack also helps Army of Darkness. Hell, it's so good the dude reused it in the 2002 He-Man cartoon.

Double Indemnity - Not only is this the greatest Film Noir ever made, but it's also the greatest movie ever made.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, my friend and I tried watching it. We didn't find it bad per se but the ridiculous lack of gravity and obvious wire use put us off so we decided to turn it off and watch something else. Was disappointing because it was on my list for so many years.

Monkey Man - It was a brainless fun action film with a lot of wonderful cinematography. Its nothing I will ever bother to watch again, but it was an enjoyable ride.
