Ehn, Ize kinda just fuckin with ya. I don't really care either way. It is sorta plodding, but 3/10 seems a tad harsh. It was pretty on point for the 70s, but doesn't necessarily feel like it holds up. I almost like the '04 remake better. Regardless, I feel the same way about many supposed "classics" (e.g., Halloween), so it ain't no thang.

The Accountant—7.5/10
Yeah, it has problems, but it was interesting and I was never bored. I enjoyed the characters and story, and look forward to the next one.

Watched Valerian last night. I'd give it a 7/10. I love the source material, so I'm a bit biased. It was a little too long and the acting was a bit blah, but visually it was fantastic.

Shaun of the Dead—6.5/10
Not really my kind of movie, but I enjoyed it sometimes. I feel Edgar Wright was still honing his skills during this period. Definitely better than the movie it's parodying though.

I tried watching that one too the same day, and couldn't get through it. Moreso than Shaun it was not my cup of tea.

Justice League—5/10
It started off rather strong, but I really didn't care for this movie as a whole. Dumb villain, pointless action, a certain character even more OP than usual, bad and ill-placed jokes, bad CGI, etc. Say what you will about BvS but I think that movie has a better tone.

Men in Black—6.5/10
Hard to decide the rating for this one. The effects are incredible for 1997 and have aged pretty well. I'm not a big fan of the villain in this one, or the lack of interesting agents besides J, K, and K's original partner. Also, I'm phobic of bugs so this was hard on me. Lots of close-ups of cockroaches....so disgusting. I enjoyed it but I thought the third one was a better movie. (It's the only one I'd seen before this one)

I really don't get the hate it's been receiving. It was a total blast from start to finish.

I felt like I got my money's worth for Superman's resurrection alone. That scene was so awesome. THE EYE TURN MAN!!! Everyone in the theater was clapping and I had the biggest dumbest grin on my face the entire time.

I can understand enjoying it, but a perfect 10? Hell no. Too many flaws.

I'd give it an 8/8.5. It was great but yeah it had some flaws. Considering all the crap that went on behind the scenes though I expected that.

Star Wars The Last Jedi—6/10
Probably the best acting in the whole series, but I didn't care for the story and the direction they took with OT characters. More than even the Force Awakens, this movie just felt like Fanfiction. I'm not very excited for the next one, or any of Disney's SW movies in general. Disney's Star Wars is not my Star Wars.

Last Jedi. 5/10.
I understand why they made some of the decision s and the messages they were sending. I just didn't like where the series is going. I could elaborate but no spoilers. The story held zero tension. There was no sense of menace. I don't feel there is a cohesive plan in place for the overall story arc. Disney just wants to push out a movie a year till it's no longer profitable. |

^ Right there with you... kinda hated Last Jedi to be honest. Mark Hamill is still a movie star though... he looked so great onscreen... too bad they wasted him on some weird plot decisions.

The Last Jedi - 9/10
Fantastic film, one of the better installments. Built on the themes presented in both the PT and PT very nicely, subverted a lot of expectations and had an emotional intensity I haven't experienced in Star Wars before except at points during Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. Very impressed with how multi-layered it was, too, and how it deliberately played with peoples expectations and idealised views of the heroes.

Also not looking forward to the Solo movie. Yeah, I liked that a lot too. At times I almost felt that they were slyly trolling both TFA critics and OT fans. |

And I mean coming from Rian Johnson, it makes sense that someone with his track record would treat Star Wars like this. Quote:

Totally agree on the acting part, everyone pretty much brought it performance-wise. And unfortunately, I do agree a little about the second part...they didn't end it on a cliffhanger like everyone thought they would and third movie almost seems anti-climatic at this point. I guess they're going to resolve the Rey/Kylo conflict but with the OT characters pretty much phased out and the First Order basically a one man show now there doesn't appear to be much going on for a final movie.
Also not looking forward to the Solo movie.

Batman and Harley Quinn: A steaming pile of s**t out of...well it was just a steaming pile of s**t. No getting around it.
Seriously it was like all the worst garbage that Family Guy had to offer got thrown into a blender with B:TAS. |
