Similar to my movie thread, give me your opinion on the last show you watched.

This could be nice especially since there is no Letterboxd for shows.

I'll start. The Penguin. I was excited to explore the Reeves-verse but I quit after one episode. It feels like someone gave a netflix-original creator the keys to the kingdom. It has the same actor, the same prosthetics, but ends up being prosthetic on its own.

Garo Goldstorm Sho - Simply amazing. One of the best Toku series ever made.

Finally got around to watching What If season 2. Not nearly as good as season 1. I think this show suffers from trying to tell an overarching narrative when it should just be an anthology show. I don't like Captain Carter enough to want that many episodes dedicated to her.

They should have focused on really interesting What Ifs, like what if Iron Man fought Wenwu.

Daredevil Season 3. Overwhelmingly dark and depressing. Stigmatizes mental illness, and loses the comic-booky feel of season 2. And it's about 3 episodes too long. Also kinda crazy that he doesn't wear the suit the whole season. I do like the ending though.

I never made it through DDS3.

Anyway, Garo Heir to Steel Armor - I now have a new least favorite Garo series.

The thing is, those Netflix shows were always MCU shows. I have no idea why people assumed they weren't.

Seeing the wolverine variants was cool. Snipes still has it as Blade Channing Tatum was fantastic as Gambit.

I Think this is my favorite Deadpool movie now. Seeing Wolverine wear the Tiger Stripe suit and Mask was a huge nerdgasm.
You posted in the TV show, not the movie one. lol

Anyway,

Boogiepop Phantom - One of the greatest anime series ever made. The sound design is unmatched and the stories interconnecting and not being fully linaer is just incredible.

It's because it was created by Marvel Television, of which Feige was not involved with at all, and they had a one-way continuity. Until recently, they weren't acknowledged as canon. So much so that Born Again had started production already when they decided to fire the directors and start over to make it connect to the netflix shows more.

Just finished off Superman & Lois. It was a good series, IMO, but not sure about the way they went with Lex.

The entire plot of DD Season 1 is Kingpin taking control of NYC after the Battle of New York. The show straight up told you it was in the MCU in like the first episode.

Anyway, I watched the first three episodes to the 90s animated Spider-Man series. Animation is choppy, but still not a bad start. It was interesting how the first episode parallels the first episode of Batman The Animated Series.

was Brutus Beefacek really gone that long for 3 years when his face got smashed in from that parasailing incident?

I've been slowly making my way through The Twilight Zone again because I wanted to see all of the episodes in order as there are a lot of ones I have never rewatched. The first three seasons were fantastic with only the occassional flop, but Season 4 is just as painful to get through as it was the first time. The hour long format just does not suit this show at all as most of the episodes feel needlessly stretched out with filler just to make that hour length. Of the 8 we have watched so far, six of them would have been great if they had been the normal length while one is just a complete dud. On the other hand, "He's Alive" felt like it could have benefitted from 3 more minutes.

Watched the first five episodes to Season 2 of the Spider-Man animated series.

The Sinister Six two parter is a really good kick off for a new season where the stakes are upped. There's a crime war brewing. We get Connor's mentioning Adrian Tombs, hinting at Vulture, and some good takes on a classic Spidey comic with them thinking Peter was pretending to be Spidey. Aside from some cheap animation and Spidey's weblines constantly disappearing, it was a really well done story. I also like that they have brought Morbius in as a regular student as opposed to already being a vampire, so you know craps going to happen to him.

It never occurred to me that the Hydroman episode was a commentary on domestic abuse and wow. I liked this one a lot better than I did in the past even though Hydroman is such a lame ass villain. Water they thinking with this guy? Actually, I've never read any comic issues that feature him, so I don't know how accurate he is, but I find him to be nothing more than a wannabe Sandman.

The X-Men crossover was a decent two parter. Wolverine seemed a bit tamer than how he even was in his own cartoon though, which was weird. Hobgoblin returning was nice and David Warner always slays any role he partakes in. I do like how they are taking their time to build up Peter's mutation.

Knocked out the next five episodes to Neogenic Nightmare today. I loved that they all pretty much revolved around Morbius since he's one of my favorite Marvel heroes(ish). Punisher being dumbed down is still always weird and confusing, but they made it work. Blade was cool, I guess, but he groaned way too much.

I'm 9 episodes into Sins of the Fathers for the 90s toon and I'm enjoying, but I do think it is inferior to Neogenic Nightmare. There's not as much of a cohesive narrative tying it all together and there's a lot of stand alone stories. I really liked how NN flowed. The animation has improved quite a bit though.

Can't say I like Doctor Strange and Green Goblin in this show though. I typically love hearing John Vernon's voice, but he seems very off in the first episode. I'm not sure if it was the dialogue itself or maybe he just wasn't feeling well, but I was not feeling his Strange. I'm also not a fan of the voice for Green Goblin, though they could be because Steve Blum just had the definitive voice for him years later.

The DareDevil episodes were excellent and I did enjoy the Tombstone/Robbie oneeven though I feel it should have been a multi-part story.

Funny enough, I've got the Mafex Venom and Carnage arriving tomorrow and my next episodes of the season feature them. :-D

The Series Finale of Superman and Lois was fantastic. This show understood Superman and got him right. It felt good to have the real Superman back after Zack Snyder ruined him.

Also we got this sick shot of the Super Family

Had I not grew disgusted of the CW shows, I probably would have watched it. However, they royally pissed me off with the way they bungled Flash and Legends, espeically Crisis on INfinite Earths that I gave up on them. I skipped Flash Seasons 7 and 8 but came back for the final to see how it ends and Barry was barely even in his own final season. It had become the Cecille show guest starring The Flash.

Flash got terrible when Eric Wallace took over as Showrunner. He thought flash fans wanted to see more of Cecille Allegra and Chester 3 side characters that got more screen time than they should have

I've been rewatching Batman Beyond. What a great freaking show. I'd forgotten how awesome it was as a whole. Bummer is I only have 1 episode, Return of The Joker and JLU S2 Ep 13 to go.

I sincerely hope the creative team responsible for the Spiderverse animated films gets the green light for their proposed Batman Beyond film.

Chester is the black Cisco, right? I ask because I don't even remember him being introduced, so he must have come in sometime after Crisis and before S9. All I know is his love plot with the Totally Not Kaitlyn seemed like it was written by a 14 year old for 14 year olds.

I loved Batman Beyond, but I felt it started to lose itself towards the end of Season 2. Sentries of the Lost Cosmos, the Zeta Project episodes, the one with Terry's friend becoming a mutant, the Kobra 2 parter, Egg Baby, April Moon, and the one with his friend's step dad losing his job and wanting revenge were all pretty bad.

I didn't even actually think the Justice League 2 parter (the BB one with Starro, not the JL one) was all that special either.

Still, the show managed to hit all of the right notes as Season 1 was pretty much perfection. I loved the RFG episodes, the ones with Curare, Spellbinder's third episode where Barbara thought Terry murdered someone, and Mind Games is hands down the best episode of the series.
