Just out of curiosity, are the gold ones going to have the bumps on the package or whatever?

Hell, I don't even know if they STILL do that, because I never used those. But I'm mainly hoping they're not doing that. Because if they are, it means I'll never have a chance to get that gold minifigure.

I'm I VIP member, and only bought 2 things from the Lego store and Disney World. And the second one was just in time to stop the points from expiring. But they will have to do better with their prices (both the items cost and shipping) before I will buy anything from the online Lego store besides just a key chain. Lego is just too overpriced!

Why is there a space in my last cough? When I read it, it says cou gh. When I edit it, it's still cough

Gold mini figure? Why is that a big deal, it's just a minifig painted gold right?

Yeah. But there is an even more limited number of solid 24k gold ones made from gold that was taken from Ft. Knox. One of the criminals from the smuggling ring made the gold into Lego figures and mixed them with the plastic ones. It was payback for getting what he felt was the short end of the deal. Now if you find a real gold one, better get rid of it fast! The criminals and the government will do whatever is necessary to take back all the real gold ones.

True story.

I think the Gold one will most likely be a gold version of one of the 16 minifigures in the set. Either that or all 16 will have a gold version. There's no details about that right now and it's all speculative. But I would think that if you make it one of the 16, then you can't even tell which ones are gold by the grope test. It would literally be all luck/chance.

For me, the bump code thing never really worked, but given the extremely limited nature, I seriously doubt they would want to clue anyone into which one is the gold one.

This gets into the whole "chase" mentality and it's a bit ugly. Blind packed figures already draw a crowd that can get rabid over the chase. Luckily up until now the LEGO Minifigures have had relatively even distribution within a case, nothing is really shortpacked, and pretty much fair for all. When you introduce a short packed "chase" figure it can draw in a different crowd of people who are only after that rare piece either for themselves, or at least half the time to flip it to make a quick buck on the secondary market. This COULD result in people buying up more product in stores, or even people buying more cases of them. This is good for LEGO but in the end could be bad for the collector, leaving less product out there for fans to find, and also putting that thing out there that a great number of us may never see.

Not quite sure how I feel about it personally. I've been doing the LEGO Minifigure thing since day 1, and I loved how things have been going. I understand the point in introducing something like this the continue to generate excitement. I just know from experience in other realms of collecting I was a part of, when "chase" figures and short packed variants are introduced, the fun starts dwindling and things can get a little bit uglier.

I'm still in as I have been and always will be. I'm just going to pretend the gold figure doesn't exist, because I don't want to drive myself crazy or poor trying to get one.

I've spent an obscene amount of money on Lego this last six months, so I was rather chuffed to get the VIP keychain.
