Wow…..it never ceases to amaze me the level assholeishness that people sink to.

Agreed. Total BS move on the part of that person. The sadder part is that even if Kain used his own time to hunt someone down and point out the issue, Walmart is notorious for not caring and most likely did nothing.

Clamshells would solve the issue right? Hasbro should just use clamshell packaging for everything like the older Legends did.

That they did. I even asked if they would sell them to me for half price because it was missing parts and the manager said there is nothing to prove anything is missing.

Apparently they're not allowed to use clamshells anymore, I guess? At least, that is what someone said when they talked about clamshell packaging for the ML 20th anniversary figures.

I got the opposite where I am. The 2 local Walmart where I return stuff, every time I return an action figure, they check and double check to make sure it has not been opened. This lady would even run her finger along the tape to make sure it's not tape on top of tape. I don't see too many of these swapped figures here in my local Walmarts. I wonder if she ever caught swappers and denied returns.

Too much plastic, Hasbro is trying to retire plastic packaging and a clamshell would be a big step backward on that.

To my understanding it's primarily a cost concern on their end. There's probably an environmental angle too but they're a business first.

Flint makes sense for an easy reissue, and I understand them not including the chest webgear, but couldn't they at least have given him his leg holster?

It's not really a reissue from Hasbro. Some ass took what they wanted and returned it with crap to get their money back. Happened a LOT with Marvel Legends a few years back. I stopped collecting that line so no idea if it still does. The saddest one I have seen photos of was a figure package that was successfully returned with a banana inside.

Ah ok. But it's weird that the jerk replaced the beret with the Cobra helmet, since I never see troopers at retail. You'd think that would be a more coveted accessory.

Some customizers are idiots. Not all of them, just a small number. Years ago I saw several Marvel Legends Deadpool custom figures over on Figure Realm that used the Toy Biz Marvel Legends Series 6 Deadpool figure as their base figure. And this was back when that particular DP figure was going for around $100+ on eBay. The customs were NOT good. Lots of apoxie, gloss paint when it should've flat paint, poor paint coverage, etc. All I could think was why not choose a cheaper figure when you're going to just cover it up with apoxie and paint.

It's been more noticeable of a change in Transformers, but the other lines have gone through a reduction, so the original Toybiz packaging of 20 years ago is definitely a no go. |

I miss the packaging of old though. Toys felt more special being in fancy packaging rather than the boring, generic looking boxes we have been getting this last decade. The Power Rangers packaging is absolutely worthless.

Oh I agree, the fancier packaging was more appealing, and stuff like Power Rangers, Black Series (at least the previous black box version), and even G.I.Joe are really boring.
But I understand that fancy looking packaging in the end just made for fancier looking trash, and I can see why the shift away from them has happened. I do still like when you get some unique packaging, though, with like 00 Snake Eyes. Special one offs are cool. |

Star Wars Black Series features fantastic artwork on their wedge shaped spines that, if you have all the figures in a wave, you can create one continuous piece of artwork. However the full art cannot be displayed effectively because of the previously stated wedge shaped spine. If the spines are aligned the boxes take up double the space they should. While the box shapes are more interesting they are also more difficult to display. Last edited by firmpulse; 11-16-2021 at 01:18 PM.. |

I'm an opener. For the most part. Sometimes it takes me a little longer to open and display my toys. When that happens, I really appreciate simple, boxy packaging for ease of stacking and storing. Some of the fancier packaging gets tricky to store. Plus I always feel bad when I eventually throw the premium packaging away.

I do not think Classified packaging is boring at all. I really like Classified packaging. Especially the wraparound artwork. If you have two of a figure you can display the front of the box butted up to the spine of the second box and see the whole piece. I appreciate that the boxes are compact, collector friendly and display the figures prominently. Power Rangers Lightning collection uses the same scheme.

What I mean is the box style is boring. I also don't like how they don't show the actual figure on it, and if they do, they're these tiny little single image to show the BAF. Also, the GI Joe artwork is very incosistent. Everything should look the same for continuity reasons.

Well sometimes the box was the only way to know where/how an accessory was placed.
Also, for Transformers, I used the box to show me how the figure is supposed to look fully transformed because the instructions were always confusing as hell. I rarely ever looked at the instructions to transform the figure. Quote:
I'm not sure what you meant by that.

Classified artwork is executed by a different artist by design. It is very consistent.
Quote:
You just do not like that brand of consistency. But, to say "Everything should look the same for continuity reasons" is purely your opinion.
Quote:
And that alone makes it very far from "boring."

You hadn't referenced ML figures in the previous posts. You didn't state that you did not like their packaging. You just randomly threw that in there out of context. Quote:
Again. You were stating your opinion as incontrovertible fact. I was trying to be polite. But, I think you opinion of "why the packaging doesn't work" is unimaginative. Quote:
And if you like it, that's great, but I find the boxes too basic. GI Joe should have stuck to the blister card model where it had exceptional artwork on the front, a figure line-up on the back along with a file card of sorts. At this point, they might as well just cut the price by $5 and sell me the figure loose.
