Continuing on a thought that I forgot to mention, I'm not so worried about Jason being made "teen-friendly" or something silly like that to pander to teen audiences, but instead, I'm more worried about the show resorting to constant pot and sex jokes in order to gain a laugh or keep young viewers interest, and simply being done because some Hollywood big wig thinks it's fan-service and they are preserving some sort of "Friday the 13th spirit." It's become really dull and cliche' over the years, and honestly, if the series is to progress any further, either on the big screen or the small screen, it really needs to get away from that hokey, amateur, and very immature "American-Pie" style humor. It really took a big **** all over the newer film, which was drowning in this type of stuff to the point of exploitation, and it will only make future projects worse if it continues down this path.

Movies like the original Scream, Evil Dead series, and Trick or Treat proved that you can have humor in horror without resorting to these boring cliches. While I still feel that that Jason should be an unstoppable, remorseless, and very relentless killer, I would also like to see him become a little bit more than a walking great white shark with a sex and pot radar. Wouldn't it be nice to feel sorry for one of his victims for a change, as opposed to always cheering for him because his victims tend to be some of the dumbest, insulting, and ultimately despicable excuses for teenagers ever seen?

I wanna see Jason going after a victim and they'll just be throwing random crap at him to run away so by the time Jason gets 'em he'll practically be wearing the room.

I liked the original concept idea in the link Triv put up, with it being more of an anthology of Jason in different time periods, I got the feeling it would have been kind of like Highlander, but machetes in stead of swords.

In fact, this was probably the last true Halloweeny horror movie to come out until Trick r Treat in 2009, which is also a shame. Overall, a great 8/10 stars.
I love how whenever they have a Halloween marathon they always skip III,it is pretty crappy though!

I know AMC used to play it during their Halloween marathons, maybe enough people complained and they stopped. I never really liked any of the Halloween movies beyond the first and maybe the second. The Elm Street and Friday films remained more watchable even as the franchises crapped out because the kills maintained some variety and the people making the new entries kept things tongue-in-cheek. Texas Chainsaw has the least entries, I think but correct me if I'm wrong, but it's also the easiest for me to say I only like and will only re-watch the original.

Yes, unfortunately. I guess I was speaking in terms of his legacy. He never had a school but after he died one was created in his honor so in that sense I think "has" works.

it would still be has, you wouldn't say "he had done great things" unless those things passed as well. as his legacy still stands and the body of work he produced is still contributing to film and society he HAS done great things... past participle dude, past participle...

on the Halloween III thing, that movie was always the point in the marathon to have a few drinks, take a leek, and make out. It did blow hard, but if the original Carpenter idea of doing an anthology series, releasing a unique horror movie every year under the Halloween banner had panned out God knows how many cool unique movies we would have gotten! I think the movie catches a lot of flack for not being a Myers flick, and disrupting a franchise with a crazy out of the blue movie with no connection to the overall story. it would be the equivalent of Star Wars episode 8 showcasing a space battle between two alien races in a different Galaxy that had nothing to do with any events of any previous films.

If you count psychological thrillers then The Gift was excellent. If not, then I haven't seen it, but I heard It Follows is really good.

Also, Krampus comes out in Dec.

I hear the Flash is a lot better.

Let's pray that Jason isn't presented as an emotionally vulnerable teen-appealing shirtless ripped guy who deep down just wants to be loved and shares an ex-girlfriend with the detective hunting him down as to build emotional tension.
You're missing out on a great show. Season 2 was excellent and the fourth season has already started out with a bang. He just became THE Green Arrow and is going to be running for Mayor.

BTW, Flash is hands down the best super hero live action show ever.

No it isn't. III is fantastic as both a horror movie and a sequel to Halloween II.

I'd pick Daredevil as best live action super hero show so far, but I'm biased as hell.

I don't like Halloween III for my own reasons but opinions on it range pretty far, it is quite unpopular to like it though. I watched it understanding the absence of Michael but it just never clicked anyway. There are a ton of worse horror movies but then are a lot that are certainly better. It's better than or at least equal to most of the Halloween movies that came after.

DD was really good, but he didn't actually become the character until the end. Plus, it was over the top in violence just for the sake of it. Flash though feels like the comics brought to TV. I'm also biased though since Flash is one of my top favorite super heroes of all time while DD is not even in my top 20.

You know, I never actually got to see the full Trickster episode to that show. The day it aired the episode got interrupted about 10 minutes into it because Bush had a heart attack or something and when it finally came back to the show, the ending credits were just starting to roll.

Every time I go to watch that show I will get through the first two or three episodes and then something will come up. I was planning to watch it this Summer, but things just got real busy. Sooner or later I will actually get to sit down and watch the entire series from start to finish.

Back to Halloween though, I started Tales from the Crypt Season 6 and watched Goosebump's The Haunted Mask episode.

I used to watch Goosebumps when it was on, I remember a few years ago Cartoon Network had started playing them again in October and it was fun to watch some of those again. Those books are a fun way to introduce kids to horror without throwing them into the deep end.

This year for Halloween I intend to carve a pumpkin into the Halloween poster. Last year when I did the Alien poster it came out so well I was encouraged to try something a little harder.

As a reminder here is the Alien pumpkin

Nice. I did a pretty decent Boba Fett one year all the way up until I got to the antennae thing on his helmet. It ruined the entire thing. Needless to say I was pretty pissed.

Yeah, I've got all 62 books to the original series and several of the spin offs.

Anyway, we went to the TCM Dracula double feature event today.

It was odd watching the Lugosi movie without the Glass score after so many years. The movie is enjoyable and Renfield is absolutely amazing in this movie, however, I'm not a fan of them combining some of his role with what should have been Jonathan's. Also, they completely forgot about Lucy being a vampire. The ending is now really the greatest either, but the moments between Van Helsing and Dracula are fantastic, especially the bit when Helsing notices Dracula has no reflection in the cigarette case. Overall, no where near my favorite of the Universal Classics, it is still a good movie. I give it a 7/10.

This was my first time seeing the Spanish version and I thought it was better in some areas but inferior in others. I just can't help myself but find Dracula down right hilarious in this version. He looks so goofy when he tries to do the stare and his grin is so damn funny. He was definitely no Lugosi. One area I did like was the further development for Eva (not sure why they didn't keep it as Mina) and they did remember to kill Lucy, albeit off screen. Thanks to the night time filming there was a lot more atmosphere at times, but that alone can not make it better. The reflection scene was lackluster and Dracula had a long delayed reaction to it, but I did like how he shattered the box. In the end, I'm going to also give this one a 7/10 because while it may not be better than the US version, it is at least on par.

Trick r Treat - One of the best horror movies of all time, especially for a movie based around Halloween. The stories are all fun with great twists and this movie just keeps getting better with every viewing. 9/10.

Cabin in the Woods - This wasn't planned, but one of our friends bought too many tickets as it was showing at our Drafthouse and asked if we would be interested in going. We did and it was as great as always. Not to mention getting to see it on the big screen again was fun. A nice 8/10.
