Did Super7 prove there is a market for this type of action figure.

There's been a market for retro 3.75" figures for years. There are other companies doing 3.75" retro outside of Super7. Plus, these are made to order, so they aren't producing additional stock that has to go to retail.

It's funny how, for a while there, no one was doing 1978 figures 'cuz of license issues and now these fly-by-night toy companies pop up to make them

Oh man those look bad, like legitimately awful. Idk what fright rags is thinking with this, but I'm sure the die hard halloween fanboys will snatch em up.

These are definitely directed at their specific audience, which is the hipster horror nostalgia market (don't mean that in a negative way, I'm in that audience lol), vs specifically toy collectors. They're more a niche horror art company, and I think their base will be all over these for the overall appeal of the packaging and aesthetic vs the quality of the figures.

Love the artwork. Michael Myers looks superior to the Funko/Super7 release from several years ago. Pretty cool to see Laurie and Lynda. The sculpts are what they are; appropriate for the intent.

you must be new to whats been going on with Funko and Funko Reaction.
WHere the hell you been for the past 5-8 years? Theyve been making alot of Funko Reaction figures since a couple of years ago. THeyre made because theyre basically a tribute yada yada to old late 1970s early 1980s action figures of Star Trek and STar Wars and Alien. Yes some Funko Reaction action figures look like melted crap like the Terminator 2 Funko Reaction figurese but the rest of the stuff looks great especially the Big Trouble in Little China Funko Reaction figures along with weird stuff like Breaking Bad figures etc. |

From a figure sculpt standpoint, I made similar looking things in Art class in grade school, sans limited articulation. Just have me shaking my head. Niche market alright. The tech has advanced to provide something better I'd think even for scale. The packaging card back is great though. But hey, people can collect and spend their money however they feel.

Interesting, but MEGO style figures might be more fun... a dark twist on Barbie type of thing. Can't remember has NECA done anything with their 8 inch line for Halloween '78?

NECA doesn't have a Halloween 1978 license. Either they think the license fee is too high for what they want to do, or the two companies don't want to work with each other.

I actually really like these, but they're pretty overpriced. Just like everything Fright Rags puts out.

Which is really weird considering these nobodies (no offense to them!) CAN afford the license? I'm definitely thinking it might be some bad blood there

Didn't realize these weren't super7 lol. For what it's worth, I think the comicbook callback is really cool..

I ordered these right away along with the nanoforce set. No one is ordering based on how the actual figures look. Its all about the awesome artwork with the cool nod of the comic add and getting at least one character never represented in action figure form before. The price is really reasonable for a small company as well.
I do wish super 7 would evolve to gi joe type figures instead of the 70s style. Especially with 80s licenses like turtles. But i know that would be more expensive for them and no one is buying the actual figure anyways. And this style is popular enough hasbro is now doing it with marvel and star wars |

The cost of licensing properties for action figures tends to vary greatly based on the type of product that is planned. A friend I have in the industry broke it down that companies specifically license for size, price point, materials, and points of articulation. That is why you see multiple companies doing 6” figures of the same brands all the time. Each one of those companies has a license to do just that specific version.
