I love this new theme. I bought the Cannon Battle set a week ago and bought the Soldiers' Arsenal & Pirate Survival sets at Toys R' Us today. It seems they are not available anywhere else for now except the LEGO stores.

Cannon Battle is really nice. I love the new modernized torsos of the Imperial Soldiers compared to the older ones, they have much more detail on the front and now detail on the back as well. Accessories are cool as well, it is nice to have a musket, two swords and a map! Soldiers' Arsenal is nice, a great set to get those Imperial Soldiers and weapons, but Pirate Survival is not as great because the entire set is mainly accessories. Nothing you really build there.

I think the sets are cool but I'm not a big enough fan to actually support the line with my money. I have some vintage sets that I got from a friend but I think that's as far as I'll go. Of course that Kraken set was tempting.....

I agree. Legos are just too expensive now a days, so I by them whenever there on sale. Such as the after Christmas clearance on the stocking stuffer ones. Although the pirates do bring back memories.

I just found a couple of my old pirate minifigs. Do any of the new minifigs come with a hook for a hand?

Just Brickbeard. His is interesting though, because it looks to be a metallic gold color. Previous pirate minifigs, usually other captains, had the hook too, but in a flat grey color.
