Walmart finds. I passed on the regular Azrael because I was just never all that fond of Jean-Paul as a character but I did think the toy looked well sculpted. So it's nice for me to be able to get the suit of sorrows repaint and have the same nice figure but now it's the Michael Lane version which I think has a slightly better look given the whole knight templar crusader theme fitting the character's zealot status. Having never picked up the original I didn't know that the fire on his sword was removable and also reversible so he can be displayed planting the sword and the fire is still going up which is pretty cool. I also finally found the NECA Rhino Alien after basically resigning myself to never having it so that was a great surprise. I never saw the original orange version and by the time I was prepared to just order it online they revealed this repaint which I thought brought out more of the fantastic sculpt but until now I never saw this one either. This thing is fairly massive compared to the standard Alien and looks excellent. All of the joints on mine are quite solid, if anything some are too tight but nothing's outright stuck. It can stand upright but the feet are proportionally small so it naturally works better in quadrupedal poses. The dome is removable and doing so reveals some nice additional sculpting underneath.

I finally found the landshark at a local target last weekend along with some more NECA figures and the little nano GI Joes on clearance for $1.97 (I bought 4 packages for dio/display potentials)!

I actually thought this was an Assassin's Creed figure until I read your description about it being Azrael from DC. o_O
I like the 90s costume with the red better.

I see a pretty decent amount of people who look at this design and go "oh like assassin's creed." To a point I understand why, because it's a popular game series, but did they just stop teaching about the crusades at some point so they don't know what the Knights Templar was? Are these people only learning bits and pieces about it from a fictionalized depiction in a video game? Have they never seen the Saxon album cover? The last question was a joke but seriously, the Knights Templar was a real faction of Christians during the crusades and this design is just a blending of elements from the original Azrael's costume and their actual attire of the white tunics with the large red cross. Even in the comics the Order of St. Dumas was always said to be a group which started from the Knights Templar so there is an established reason why the bearer of the Azrael mantle would look like this. I get why most people have a preference for the red and gold costume since it's the original and a pretty cool look on its own but I like that the suit of sorrows has a more historically inspired fit to the character.

I'm responding to your post but I hope it's clear that I'm not being hostile to you for your thoughts, I'm just using them as a jumping off point for this post.

I'm more of an ancient civilzation guy. Like if you ask me something in regard to the mythology of Egypt, Babylon, Greece, Norway, or India, I'm going to be more familiar with your question than I would in regard to the Crusades. Additionally, I can tell you a whole lot about the likes of Alexander the Great, Ptolemy, Cleopatra, Rameses the Great, Genghis Khan, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Vlad Tepes Dracul, but if you ask me something about Richard The Lionheart, I'm not going to be able to tell you much beyond the basics. With that said, I do know that figure looks more like a Knight's Templar design, but it was the drapped hood and flaming sword that made me think it was an AC figure.

I have no idea why, but my camera refuses to take pictures of Red Skull's face without it being a tad blurry and it's really annoying.
