Based on his clone Evan/Genesis/Kid Apocalypse that would seem the be the case. Shapeshifting with the perks of considerable strength/durability. VHS/Retro.........it's mold reuse. Some figures just needed new colors. Some the execution wasn't right but they tried. Others they straight up didn't and worked with what they had. Some I think they really wanted to do a comic version but from above needed to put it under the Retro/Animated lineup. Still we all know what this Apocalypse is based on and it won't be everyone's cup of tea. |

That issue is one I had but never got around to reading- it came out during the height of the speculator boom and I just had too many comics coming in to keep up. That cover has always stuck with me though. |

Not to rehash the debated statement after some semblance of agreement has been reached, but I checked the fig following seeing the old cover and it does appear to be a bit of an odd amalgam.
Missing from the figure are the extended elbow and knee guards, the boots are not the same, the metalic silver tread is missing from the soles, the eyes are black, and what should be black armored plating has been replaced with textured cross-hatching that looks more like kevlar. All that said, I think the toy is a better design than is the original (comic canon, or animated), but I was never a fan of that Spidey armor anyway. |

Hmmn, not a fan of the cartoon's color scheme on the figure. IMO looks great in the show, just not on the figure.
Definitely see them re-releasing this mold in more comic inspired colors. Probably in some kind of boxset. |

I like the Legends Retro Spider Armor version more than the comic cover version myself.
Lizard hasn't come out yet though... plus Retro Lizard is a Walmart exclusive which actually might make it harder to get than those trying to go after the BAF. But like for BAF Rhino... the Buy It Now price remains high, but I think the ones that went to auction sold for a lot less then it did before the Retro Rhino came out. |

The retro carded armored Spider-Man is based on the PS4 video game. You unlock that particular suit, Armor MK1, after you complete the first mission in the Turf Wars DLC.
As for the new Apocalypse figure, the deco doesn't bother me since my first introduction to the character was on the cartoon. That said, I'm more interested in seeing the Marvel Select Apocalypse. With it being a Marvel Select, it'll probably be bigger than the Legends version but will cost ~$30. |

Maybe in a two-pack with a re-release or slight redo of the classic Cable, I imagine there's a fair amount of people who missed him from the Sasquatch wave and wouldn't object to getting a classic Apocalypse with him.

With it being a Marvel Select, it'll probably be bigger than the Legends version but will cost ~$30. Mystery solved. I haven't played the game as I own an Xbox One X making recognition an impossibility for me. However, its insertion in the 'animated' line makes the Legend subset yet one more pot-luck of loosely assembled releases that break Hasbro's own established categorical designations. It also reaffirms Gizmo's suggestion that it was a castoff Gamerverse fig inserted anywhere as an afterthought. As far as the peculiarities of the 'pink/mauve' Apocalypse is concerned, shockingly, I didn't order. I'll wait for the color edit and potential insertion into a boxset as redfox suggested. Although I did watch it, I have zero attachment to the animated show and the line has fallen completely flat with me. My principal investmet has always been the characters as they appear in the books, or 'close enough'. Storm is the only animated version that tempts me and that is due to the head sculpt. However, I'm still debating whether the head alone is worth 28+ bones. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 06-23-2022 at 05:19 AM.. |

I'm quite certain we'll see those VHS figures on sale during another big Pulse sale.
Man, you guys are missing out on the greatest comic book superhero game ever made by not being Playstation owners. This is one of the reasons I buy all consoles that have game I want on them. Though, X-Box hasn't had a game I truly wanted to buy in about 10 years.

^ I know, I know. I've heard it many times. As an old school Sega Saturn and Dreamcast (along with the Master System, Mega-Drive/Genesis, SegaCD, 32X, and Nomad) diehard, Sony and I are mortal enemies. I'll never buy another Playstation, ever.

There's a PC port of Spider-Man out soon if there's PC folk here lol. And can probably expect Spider-Man 2 about four years after the PlayStation version of that too going by the gap between PS and PC versions of the first game and Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War.

In all seriousness, licensed games almost never interest me at all, even when they're done well it usually just feels like it's all style over substance. The only exceptions that immediately come to mind are the X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance games, but even that's only because they feel Diablo-light with a Marvel skin over it. |

I agree with Dr. Kain, though, it's easily one of the best comic book video games ever made let alone one of Playstation's top titles. Everyone without a PS4 should seriously look into the PC version. Quote:
I tend to go with whatever console is going to have Nintendo's first party content on it . If it won't run Zelda, no thanks.

Spider-Man is just one of the many games Sony has. Over the years we've had Uncharted, God of War, Horizon, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Twisted Metal, Crash Bandicoot (before the series was bought by Activision), The Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Dexter, Syphon Filter, Fear Effect, Shadow of the Colossus, etc. Sony has just given hours upon hours off enjoyable variety to play on their machines. Nintendo is great, but most of their games rely on nostalgia. Plus, I love the PS controllers and all third party games I prefer on a Playstation console with some often being exclusive. Not every Yakuza game has come out on a non-PS console. Furthermore, their consoles were the first ones to jump into the DVD and Blu-Ray game so your machine could also double dip as a player. Lastly, they put a heavy focus on single player content with their games. I have no interest in spending hours on a game that has little to no story due to the main focus being online play. Here is my gaming collection:
