My freind had brought up Bionic Commando...
Don't yout think the best rival do go up against Spiderman would be the arm swinging Nathan Spencer?

Licenses don't differ per industry, only in the way they are written and agreed upon. A license just allows the use of another's trademark while avoiding litigation. Everything depends on the licensing agreement. There was obviously a change to the agreement recently that had to have been broad enough such that this game wouldn't constitute infringement, otherwise, what else would have prevented capcom from using these characters in the past for a fighting game franchise that had proved successful? Or, There may have been a 10 yr clause in the original agreement for all we know and that may be why Capcom can now use these characters.
Of course they're written differently and that's why I said what I said. Both industries have different markets and the licensing agreements are tailored to those markets. My point is just because Company A was granted rights to make a game based on an IP doesn't necessarily mean that Co. A is the only one who has the rights to produce games based on that particular IP. Unless it was actually in the agreement. That kind of exclusivity with third-party IP's would be ludicrous in the VG industry, but is fairly commonplace in the toy industry (see Hasbro/Marvel and Mattel/DC). Quote:
Either way, I'm just glad this is finally happening. I only asked about this License thing because I wanna make sure this is REALLY happening and I'm not getting my hopes up again for nothing, lol.

Fair enough.
You just made me sad with the reminder that game footage and trailers can be faked =( Why would anyone want to do that to us? That's just cruel.
