Im curious if the GL figures were profitable for Mattel. Clearly it failed with collectors but we were never their target.
My criticsm for them has always been for not trying to compete with MO in the collector market. hopefully the vauge hint for 2013 means they thnik there is a real market. Hopefully they dont make the dcih mistake of lower quality at a higher price with little or no a or b list charecters in the first few waves. Yeah I really hope that they take a few minutes, and scroll through some customs forums to get an idea of how the DC figures should be made in 1:18 scale. Then again that was the other problem aside from articulation that DCUIH had...SCALE. They based the entire DCUIH line on 3 3/4" which would have been fine if going against the old 80's Joes, but even compared to the modern Joes that is too short. They need to make them 1:18 scale like MU where a 6' tall character is 4" tall. |

To be fair some of the DCIH were heading in the right direction towards the end of the line. I loved the Hal Jordan that came with the GL: First Flight movie from Best Buy.

I think the overall look and style of the characters in general is pretty boring looking. Maybe if they'd make some interesting looking characters, and not have them all look like they're related, people would give a shit about YJ. Every single figure they make looks like Batman the Animated Series from back in the 90's.

I agree, the further they could make the figures from the toon look from the source material the better. That way when kids show up at the toy store looking for their favorite characters from the show, they wouldn't be able to find them.

This. Marvel Universe successfully targets both.

HAHA
In response to Mattel's follow up on the cancellation of the line: DC isn't dead....its just......well hey we are putting this thing out online and then....oh yeah what about the 4inch Batman toys.........(softly: which use the same crappy articulation and gimickery as past 4 inch Matty toys.) Not dead......dying? |

So, wait. . .they mention Club Infinite Earths, they mention Dark Knight Rises movie toys, then they hop to 2013. Did All-Stars get pushed all the way to next year?

Hopefully they dont make the dcih mistake of lower quality at a higher price with little or no a or b list charecters in the first few waves. They could barily keep them stocked. However, that's what killed the line here, as well. Mattel took so long getting additional waves out, that all the stores finally filled up with wave one, and we never saw much beyond that. Once everyone got their fill, they never got a chance to get any newer figures unless they resorted to online.

But for the first month and a half, there was a very steady flow out the door. Until, like I said, the stock finally caught up, and everyone who wanted the first wave had it. But Green Lantern kicked everyone's ass for those couple weeks. DotM sat there. MU sat there. Captain America sold... decently. Thor never moved at all, anywhere. But GL was constantly selling down and getting restocked.

Kinda tempted to get one of the Batman figures from eBay, as he looks like a modern BTAS Batman, and I always kinda wanted him.

I was actually looking forward to a couple of the upcomings. superman and manta.
You realize the last time there was a 4 inch superman that was the equal of its Marvel rival was 1975. I really dont get it. If you go Target You see three pegs of DC 6", two pegs of mavrvel legends, 12 pegs of star wars, 6 pegs of marvel universe, 3 pegs of avengers 3 pegs of gi joe and 1 peg of young justice captain atoms. Yet Mattel insists the 4" line isnt profitable. Last edited by kdawg01970; 04-11-2012 at 10:33 PM.. |

I haven't seen that Robin at retail lately, but if i do and it is cheap I'll pick it up. Basically, I want the base. If I can combine the bases of the Robin and Batman figures I'll be pretty happy. Funds are low for me though, so I'll have to wait for now, even if it pops up somewhere.

Imported the 4 inch figures before xmas as we never even got close to a release in the UK.
I did manage to finish the collect and connect Amazo but never got the stealth figures to finish the hall of justice. Oh well I will just have to try to grab whatever comes up from the chinese sellers to complete the team that way. |

Sad to see this line go, especially before we get Hal. I would wager lack of articulation and ridiculous price shot it in the 4 incheres, at least foot. I never understood why even the Infinite Heroes figures had less going on than Marvel Universe and STILL always cost more.

Woah... this is the first time I've seen this! I'm glad that that Garfield Logan episode wasn't just a one-off and will lead to bigger things.
It looks like Mattel's DC lines are all getting dicked hard right now. I hope they can recover. |

So with the cancellation, the final wave for 6'' (which should be Batman & Kid Flash) is gonna be a pain to find if even released?!
Annoying...just as the series was actually getting good too. |
