Oh......very interested. I’ve waited years for good universal monsters in this scale and updated articulation. All I have are the old sideshow figures I bought at media play......damn I’m old.

I could very nearly cry. DST's Universal Monsters were how my collection started. But many of them never lived up to my expectations and most of them are expensive now on the aftermarket. Of all the fantastic things revealed by different companies this is my favorite reveal.

I’ve been asking them to do these ever since DST dropped the license. So I’m all in. I just hope they are willing to pay whatever Lugosi’s estate wants for his likeness. That’s a notoriously tough one to acquire.

If need be and they don't get that likeness, at least there's the Hammer Horror Christopher Lee Dracula that they're making.

I didn't realize they had the Universal Monsters license too. I'm still eagerly waiting to see what they do with Hammer Horror.
I bet they'll do both black & white and color versions of the Uni monsters to get more use out of the sculpts. Also very happy to see this is a 7" plastic figure and not the stupid 8" Mego style. If they do the entire group of Universal Monsters like this, I'll buy every single one of them, and I hope this is indicative of the style/scale they'll be doing with Hammer Horror too. |

If MEGO can get it I hope NECA can!

After that kind of "eh" Kong repaint reveal this is pretty great. I hope this turns out to be a full Universal Monsters license and not just Frankenstein's monster but even if it is just the latter then it's still pretty cool.

Hah! I used to work at Media Play back in college, guess I'm old too. I had no money for toys back then so I've got no problem being older

DST figures were great for what they were, but those bases were fantastic.
Bases were the best part of the DST products and made sense and just nicely done. I am sure NECA will make better figures, but still having those bases. I am glad I have what I have from DST, but missing some monster figs. One of my biggest criticisms of DST figures is them doing the gapping crotches aka DCUC style crotches and I always hate thigh cuts. I find thing cuts an eye sore as they break up the sculpt way too much. Neca does a much better job of hiding ugly joints. Glad NECA is doing Frank, but hope this isn't a one off license and they do the full Universal Monsters line. I will gladly re-buy. |

The sculpt on that is terrific; would welcome this line as well.

Has anyone ever done a 6-7" scale line for Young Frankenstein? NECA should tackle those as well.

I forsee see boxes of Frankenstein's Monster clogging Target shelves alongside Godzilla. Frankenstein! Son of Frankenstein! Bride of Frankenstein! Ghost of Frankenstein! Frankenstein meets the Wolfman! House of Frankenstein/House of Dracula! .....Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. All without EVER seeing another monster. So before i get too excited i just want to know that a Universal Monsters license for Neca means Monster(s) not Monster.

On the photo I was curious whether he's being released full color(as in Margaret Hamilton green) or in grayscale. I lightened up the image and saturated the color. It seems like he might have the slightest wash of blue on his coat and mouth. Could it be they're releasing a grey Frankenstein that sort of splits the difference, kind of like the original Mezco Silent Screamers Nosferatu. Or maybe it is black and white but with a light actual color to make it pop. |

I would love a 7" Young Frankenstein line. And, if anyone from Neca is reading this, if you do get the rights and want to do Toony Terror versions, hit me up, I have some designs ready.

I'd love NECA to do a Metaluna Mutant, the black sheep of the Universal Monsters family. I love that guy.

I would still want it too but that's one of the ones I think Diamond Select did best so it wouldn't bother me if it didn't. By the way I would say the Mole People have that distinction. At least the Metaluna Mutant got a cameo in Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

Hopefully we'll get a Dracula with a proper Lugosi likeness!

DST was doing pretty while their with their Select 2.0 Universal Monsters. The Gilman, Mummy, and Wolfman (except for this hideous ankles) were all really big improvements. I was always bummbed they never got around to Dracula, the Frankenstein's, the Invisible Man, etc.
And I was equally annoyed that Mezco did a single Universal Monster in One:12 and then moved on. So I hope that NECA does a main core line up to kick things off. I guess it all depends on if they got Lugosi's likeness rights for Dracula, as they will simply skip a Universal Dracula if they can't get the likeness, and the line will never feel complete.

Unpopular opinion, but I've always felt the universal monsters were a tad overdone and was totally satisfied with the DST offerings. I'd rather see neca tackle Hammer. How about a Peter Cushing lab set and Chris Lee Dracula?
