It actually annoys the shit out of me that my TRU always got the new Hunger Games or Divergent toys instead of Alien/Predator/Pacific Rim/ PotA/any NECA stuff people actually want.

I thought they only did the second movie, it was apparently part of their deal with Legendary pictures and wasn't really something they were thrilled to make just like when they made feckin' Twilight figures, though I'm sure making Hunger Games figures was immeasurably better than sparkly vampires.
Edit: @matt3223, just checked and Gamestop has all of the series available online if you want 'em. I was right they are from the second movie. |

Wow, that's a shit Arnold likeness. I mean, it's one of the worst sculpts I've ever seen NECA do. I guess the guy that did the amazing Predator Dutch sculpts was busy so they got the janitor to do it this time or something.

To be fair...that also looks NOTHING like Byun Hyun Kim. It looks more like Daniel Dae Kim from Hawaii 5-0.

I know it's not NECA's fault, but it strikes me as very uncreative of the movie producers to once again have a T-1000 impersonating a police officer. So many rehashed ideas in this movie...

That Arnold head. D: Did they not have references while sculpting it?

Is Genisys supposed to be a reboot? I can't see any other reason to rehash scenes from the previous movies using different actors.
Reboot Wiki "In serial fiction, to reboot means to discard all continuity in an established series in order to recreate its characters, timeline and backstory from the beginning." Terminator Genisys Wiki ..."the fifth installment in the Terminator series and will serve as a retcon sequel to the series. Retcon Wiki "Retroactive continuity, or retcon for short, is the alteration of previously established facts in the continuity of a fictional work." Ah. So to put it another way, "We couldn't come up with any new ideas, so we decided to leapfrog around our favorite bits from previous movies with the hope of cashing in on vestigial fan enthusiasm." Does that sound about right? I hope not. I just want the Guardian T-800, mainly because it looks like the best sculpt of Awnuld in his signature role. |

Get the ultimate T2 figure instead, that one looks a shit ton better than this old man bot, also why the hell would a robot get older or be made to look old like this in the first place?!

In the movie, that particular T-800 is sent back to when Sarah was a child. She grew up with that Terminator as her father figure. The organic overlay of the T-800 model behaves like any organic material and ages, even though the underlying structure is the same. Kind of the downfall of having a natural organic exterior is that it degenerates like any skin and muscle would. AKA: That's their excuse to have Ahnuld back.

Okay, for the sake of the movie and what not, I buy that. I guess it is still weird then that whoever designed the terminator would be all "hey, let's give it skin that ages." Certainly then the other creator would say "why would we want a robot that looks like it ages? I see very little applicable need or reason for that." To which the other person replies "I have two reasons for this decision: plot and convenience."
Once these models were uncovered by humans, and they were able to more easily identify them, Skynet evolved the Terminator's into the T-100, which could alter its appearance as needed.

Well, they are meant to be infiltrators, Terminator's that can blend in with real humans (which was a problem with the T-600's who had synthetic skin). Having that skin be able to age, scar, heal and bleed like a real human would go with the with the notion that they are meant to appear as human as possible.

To be fair, these are just movies. Some suspension of disbelief is required. Most movies wouldn't happen or would happen in 5 minutes if the badguys were very competent. Also like some versions of time travel, it's possible that the good guys always win because that's how it happens, anything preventing that would be sorta like a paradox so time lines would shift and change like ripples in water but the overall river keeps flowing in the same direction.

Due to all of you Neca-philes (yeah, I can make up words), I spend more time looking at Neca figs when I visit TRU than anything else...
Of course that has much to do with the fact that my particular TRU is often lacking new Marvel Legends. I've come very close to picking up that Robocop many times and I could see grabbing some Terminators...then there are the Predators. Alas, I don't want to start three new addictions. |
