Sure, I've made it known that I want a properly scaled Beta-Ray Thor in a classic outfit and said, years ago, immediately following having the fig in hand, that once an iconic (properly sized) Hulk was cobbled the Raft/BAF Abomination was going to experience calls for a remake. So, you're preaching to the choir as far as it regards wanting an updated figure that has seen previous (and recent) iterations. However, by the same measure, don't begrudge collectors whom would rather a slot go to an unrepresented character. Especially if said revisits are going to be simple repaints, such as symbiote/FA 2099 Spidey/'Ben Riley & the Clones'/Big Time/Parker Industries/Superior Spidey/etc on a retro Spidey mold. There's a limit to the patience of collectors for this particular aspect of collecting; where some see an opportunity for newer collectors, others are wary of abusive manufacturing tactics.
If they did an entire BaF wave of repaints I couldn't blame anyone for not being happy about that, however one slot in a wave isn't so bad especially when you consider if it's a Spiderman wave there's going to be a Spidey figure anyway, let it be an update of a previous Spidey, and hopefully not include a BaF part. At this point new versions of Cap, Iron Man, Spidey, Wolverine and Deadpool should not be packed with BaF pieces

I totally get your point here. I hope nobody here, especially Hulkwummy, thought I was being rude or mean with my answer/reply. I can see why some people will think Spider-Man 2099 as a wasted slot when the character had a toy six years ago. But as valid as your point is, please keep in mind the last figure was just that -- six years ago. This isn't like this is a figure made so suddenly after a previous figure was released. There has to be a certain acceptable amount of waiting time between one version of a figure and its inevitable re-release/upgrade. Figures get remade all the time. This isn't new. Like Veronica Mars said, collectors who are new to this line will want to get their own Spider-Man 2099, myself included. (Of course, I'm also waiting on a new classic U.S. Agent figure and his last figure came out even longer than the Spidey 2099 figure, but I digress.)
There are plenty of figures that Hasbro can make/re-make/re-release and fans will always buy it. Classic versions of characters like Captain America, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, etc. always sell out. Those looks are iconic, everyone knows them, everyone loves them, and every fan wants to add them to their collection. And even costumes that aren't the original looks that are still met with heavy fan demand, such as red-and-gold armor Iron Man and the Jim Lee era X-Men uniforms, always sell out too. The two main problems I have with every Marvel Legends wave, though, are "Who can I afford?" and "Who can I find?" And whenever I see a popular character like Jim Lee uniform Cyclops or whatever always sell out in pre-orders, never show up in stores and then quickly find their way on Ebay and Amazon being sold for three or four times more than the retail price, that's what really upsets me. Though to be fair, Spider-Man 2099 is just a rumor at this point. We don't know if it'll even happen. We all thought Legendary Riders Hawkeye and a Walgreens-exclusive classic U.S. Agent were in the works as reported, but they never came out last year and we don't even know if they're really going to get made this year or even ever. Until Hasbro shows us what'll actually come out, then I'll get excited. That said, it's always fun to speculate, guess and wish-list. I hope you all are having a great day and have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, True Believers. Your suggestion that 6 years is a fair amount of time to issue a remake is a pretty subjective measurement. As someone that has collected Legends since 2002 I can testify that there are many figures and costumes that haven't been revisited in a decade or more. I'd prefer to see an Avalanche, Classic Dr. Strange, 90's Ghost Rider, 90's Captain Britain, FA Power Man, FA Iron Fist, or Tigra before yet another alternate reality Miguel-Spidey. Also, technically, the last 2099 Spidey was 4 years ago in the Sandman BAF wave (albeit in a redrafted costume). So, Miguel, a character with popularity that's debatable has actually seen 3 iterations and 2 different costumes within a 20 year span of Legends figures between Toy Biz and Hasbro...and another may be on the way. You alluded to secondary prices being prohibitive to newer collectors and that redrafting these rarer figures offsets costs, however, the jury is still out on that. Let's use an example from one of your subsets to litmus test this theory. Jim Lee Rogue was about $80 on eBay before the retro re-release. Now, following the redraft, secondary rates for both figs average around $45 a few months out from the re-release and stand the chance of eventually climbing back to where they were initially as the new one leaves stores. An improvement in secondary pricing, but with millions still laid off and an economy that remains flagging, theses rates are still out of reach for many/most fans. The rates for these figs in the secondary market are largely set by the capricious nature of a fickle collecting crowd and you'll have to forgive me if I'm a bit cynical of a multinational corporation claiming that they are reselling me the same toy with a new paint job (aka minimal effort) out of some sense of altruism. Additionally, if one employs patience, almost anything can be purchased on eBay for cost plus shipping, or less even. I know this because I received just today my 5th SDCC set astral Dr. Strange, a fig that lists between $45 and $70, for a meager $12...and it's in great shape. About your claim that the flagship characters "always sell out," that's simply not my experience. I've witnessed many a flagship fig sit on pegs in my tri-state creating a glut of merchandise that prevents sell through and delays subsequent waves. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Now there's no guarantee that wouldn't happen with a newly crafted lesser known fig, but I can't say that the heavy-weight characters fair better in some demonstrable fashion. There are always multiple ways to look things and the original question, in my opinion, is a valid one. Quote:

First things first:
@Hulkwummy - I sincerely apologize if my comments seemed infantile, condescending or rude. That was never my intention. I also called you "buddy" because I consider you, and everyone here, as a friend. I called you buddy out of genuine friendship and nothing else. @TheBlueMarvel - Touché. You have some valid points. However, I do want to clarify: - I know that waiting (x) amount of time for certain figures can be a pain and disappointing. Like everyone else, I do wish they'd make figures like classic Tigra, Banshee and classic Doctor Strange already. We just have to wait their turn to get made and, with all the requests I see for Banshee and Doctor Strange getting a sequel soon, and the tease we're getting a figure with a tail this year, I'm betting all three characters will be made within the next year or two. It's just how I feel on that. I'm not surprised Spider-Man 2099 is re-made before them, though I'm not surprised. Classic Spider characters sell. From my own experience, I never could find Pizza Spidey, Mayday Spider-Girl, classic 2099 or even Spider-Man Noir in my local stores. Pre-pandemic I did see plenty of Spiders peg-warm, but the ones I did see were characters like Spider-U.K., Spider-Punk and six-armed Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a big seller and 2099 has been seen in the comics, several video games and even had a cameo in "Into the Spider-Verse", so he has more exposure than characters like Avalanche and Tigra. - From my own personal experience, I stand by my statement on classic and/or popular versions of characters selling out. With the exception of Retro Black Widow and in some stores Retro Iron Man, in my stores, Retro figures of Captain America, Punisher, Spider-Man and Wolverine sold out. I had to find my Retro Cap online and I never could find a Retro brown-and-tan Wolverine. I'm still checking Ebay and Amazon for a Retro Wolverine that's affordable, but I'll probably have to wait till the next one and hope the next version has a better Logan alternate head. Classic Spider-Man is always a sell-out, as the recent Retro wave figure proves. You're right, in some cases, some sell out more than others and some versions of characters sell better than most. But for new collectors, there should be better, more affordable alternatives. - I feel your Rogue comparison isn't adding up from what I've seen. The recent Retro Rogue was a Target exclusive and was on sale from late November into December. I don't remember hearing many stores still having her in January and even if you did get it, it was usually out of luck. Rogue was almost always sold out online and I checked every day for that figure. I suppose it just depends on the store, the selection they have, and what customers are looking for to buy. But even so, the Marvel Legends Juggernaut wave Rogue is $213.99 on Amazon and goes for as low as $60 in the box to up to $234.99 in the box on Ebay. For Retro Rogue, she's $47 in the box on Amazon and $39.99 and up on Ebay. They may be similar in price in some cases, but it depends on the seller and I'm seeing the Juggernaut wave still going for more than Retro Rogue at starting prices for bidding and Buy-It-Now listings. Again, this is what I just saw on both websites a few minutes ago, so this is just my own experience. - I also stand by that Hasbro needs to do a better job of making more of and keeping in stock figures of more popular characters they know will sell out. From what I've seen, classic Spider-Man sells out. Certain versions/armors of Iron Man sells out. Classic Hulk sells out when it's even made, and the last time we got that was for the 80th anniversary two-pack with Wolverine. Jim Lee versions of the X-Men sell out. That's why I'm hoping to see new versions of characters like Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Jubilee made for long-time collectors and new fans. If you didn't get Beast the first time around, he's still expensive. The Warlock wave Jim Lee Cyclops was impossible for me to find and he's over $100 on Ebay and Amazon. Jean Grey was part of a three pack and that's expensive now too. Jubilee is the most affordable of the bunch on some listings, but even so, her lowest Amazon price is $34.99 and $14 shipping. When Marvel Legends are $20 a pop, having to pay double or triple the retail price (or more) for certain characters is always going to be a turn off for new collectors. In closing, I'd like to apologize again to Hulkwummy. My comments were never meant to offend, be condescending or rude to you, my friend. It's just not who I am and I'll do a better job on making sure how I post in the future. I am sorry if anyone was offended. I hope you all are doing well. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, everyone. |

Stay safe, everyone. I bought my Rogue at Target via in-store pick-up, but also walked the aisle the day of and saw them on the pegs. I returned a week later and bought another Rogue off the peg and I live in the NY tri-state; lots of 'traffic' here. I wouldn't even have paid any attention to a Rogue (or any Legend for that matter) at $200+ dollars. Maybe steer clear of Amazon and buy loose? New Rogue: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-LEGE...QAAOSwBDRgHM2X Old Rogue with BAF piece: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Lege...wAAOSwsAVgKLG~ At the height of the madness, shortly following the the Juggernaut wave release, loose Rogue figs maxed at around 90 bucks....eventually settling to $80 where they held until the retro came out. I hate how Janky the distribution can be, I'm in Sacramento there are six to eight Targets in driving distance and most of them sold out of Rogue and Gambit in the first week and never restocked, and let's not even start with Classified

I am completely shocked Rogue and Gambit and the two Spideys never got an in-store restock at Targets. I think they briefly showed up again online, but that's it... the price tags were up for like a month and a half in my store and then gone. I mean Red Hulk got restocked a couple months later... heck, even Cobra Island Baroness got a final restock months later at my Target.
I only ever saw Rogue once and got her... but then I watch toy hunt videos on Youtube and people were finding her even weeks later. I guess it really depends if you are near a high traffic store or not. I also recently found a white Storm on clearance at Target for 6 dollars, so that was neat. My current frustration though is the Into the Spider-verse wave... I see so many videos of the entire wave (except Hand Ninja) pegwarming at Walmarts... that wave is impossible to find where I am at... except I finally found a Miles at Gamestop yesterday. |

No spoilers but after seeing the latest WandaVision, I think I know why they've been holding off on showing the first Disney+ Marvel Legends wave.

I'm pretty sure I know what you're referring to, but there's another thing you could be referring to that I'd like to see. That episode was SO good.

So WandaVision is actually really REALLY good. We started the morning with the plan to watch the first two or three episodes before moving on to something else only to end up watching all eight. WTF? I haven't been this engrossed in a show since Better Call Saul's fifth season ended last year. This was incredible.

With Hasbro recently announcing their partnership with all things Fortnite, it wouldn't surprise me if we see out first Marvel Fortnite addition to the Gamerverse side of things. Fortnite has a couple of unique character costumes that would be great for a Legends treatment. Domino, Thor, and Black Panther especially would be perfect.

^ That Cable is awesome... there are very few times in which I prefer a more modern design over their early 90's designs... that blue and yellow X-men Cable is one of them.

Doubtful we would see another She Hulk reveal so soon, but in continuing Marvel Fortnite thoughts...there are She-Hulk skins in Fortnite that feel perfect for a Legends Gamerverse release.

These cliffhangers are going to do me in. And the finale probably won't wrap up anything, just lead into Doctor Strange 2

As for the Monday reveal, I vaguely remember a Black Widow 2-pack teased with Maestro and a few other Legends awhile back. Haven't heard much about it sense that initial leak. If so, I'm gonna assume it's MCU related, but I'd be happily wrong if we got some more Comic Widow merch. |
