That doesn't make a movie good or bad though. A24 is an excellent studio, but even they aren't free from crappy movies. They gave us the amazing Ex Machina, The VVitch, Hereditary, and Uncut Gems, while also producing crap like Green Room, Midsommar, and The Lighthouse.

Target snuck in that “change of date” email on me and cancelled my Happy Hogan set. I hope it’s an easy Target find.

Just a brief listing of A24 movies I have enjoyed: The Witch, The Monster, Under the Skin, It Comes at Night, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Hereditary, The Lighthouse, Saint Maud, The Rover, Native Son, Locke, American Honey, Moonlight, and Good Time - ironically A24 has made me a Pattinson fan, something I never thought I would say. Movies by them that I am on the fence about and scratching my head still: Tusk, High Life, and The Lobster. I haven't seen the other films, but I've watched quite a few. |

I forgot they did Tusk, which was probably their worst film ever. Anyway, went to a different Target which had an Iron Man figure with the words INfinity on the box. I don't remember what it is from, and it was yet again another freaking Iron Man figure, but at least it was nice to see something new on the shelf for a change.

No, The Green Knight is an adaptation of the old Arthurian legend about Gawain confronting the titular knight who seeks to test him. Speaking on the old legend: It's a story about a hero proving himself through his character and interactions with others rather than his physical prowess or skill in battle, I had to write a paper on it many years ago but I remember the story beats pretty well. There are no grand battles or duels, it's a series of tests which Gawain does not know are tests as he takes his journey to meet the Green Knight as challenged. I haven't seen the movie yet but from what I've heard it's something of an art film in its visual approach with a comparison made to the works of Guillermo del Toro. Definitely the kind of movie where if you don't know what you're walking into then the title and poster may be pretty misleading.
Exactly! Hardly any action at all in this movie, all about these tests he encounters along the way to the Green Chapel to meet this Groot looking Green Knight. The lead character turned out to be a coward IMO & the movie to me was just so lackluster. I did enjoy the Witch & the Lighthouse though. Last edited by Nimrod; 07-31-2021 at 10:21 AM.. |

The problem I had with The Lighthouse is I was super hyped up for it and then when I finally got to see it, it was so stuck up in its own ass that it was trying way too hard to be sophisticated and came out pretentious. THere were a lot of elements I loved as it was well acted, well shot, putting it in 4x3 was ingenious, and I totally understand what the movie's story was trying to convey, but it just went overboard in its execution. It reminded me of another movie from a year or two beforehand called Neon Demon. Interesting premise bogged down by excessive bullshit.

I forgot that I did see Uncut Gems and it's my favorite Sandler movie; he should do more serious shit. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 07-31-2021 at 02:33 PM.. |

But you're fond of me lobster, ain't ye?
Seriously though I think we've discussed enough art house cinema for the Marvel Legends thread, at least for a while.

Well The Lighthouse really wasn't super natural at all. It was all happening in the mind of Pattinson's character as he lay there dying and being pecked apart by the seagulls after his ship capsized. I love Lovecraft stuff too though and I eagerly hope we get to see the Lovecraft inspired creature in the next Doctor Strange film. I think its name is Shogoth, but maybe that's the DC creature I'm thinking of.

There are a few Old Ones in Marvel. Shuma Gorath is the best known as the giant eyeball with tentacles, Chthon is basically Cthulhu (though Chthon is not traditionally associated with the Old Ones since he's not extradimensional), and Yog-Sothoth was depicted in some of the Conan comics.

Looks like Quasar has touched down in Canada, for those waiting. I've noticed a few Canadian eBay listings. All overpriced, of course.

I have read on Nearcompleteset.com that Absorbing Man does not need a remake, But I disagree, I say it does need a remake in his classic purple pants and on a standard body, perhaps an Omega Red / Retro Venom body sculpt with alternate arms, normal and metal and stone arms.

While I'd like to see Creel redone (preferably in a two pack with Mary) I feel like the Omega Red body is just a terrible choice because of those damn holes in the shoulders. I thought somebody at Hasbro said they'd fix that but every in-hand look at the cartoon Venom I've seen still has them, and they are notable. Maybe the Hercules body though, it's got good mass to it and it's a bit taller than the typical figure.

Hercules body will work, he just needs his classic purple pants and alternate arms and his ball & chain.

Titania needs her first action figure before her husband gets his fourth.

How about an Absorbing Man, Titania two pack. Call it criminal couple.

knowing Hasbro & their PC mindset, they'll put Titania on the recent retro Storm Buck. They're also gonna rename her TinyTania. The new 80s Herc buck is perfect for a retro classic Creel. Don't know where in the world some of you get this mindset that Creel is a giant. Only time he gains size is when he absorbs a building's physical properties or some other large structure. If he touches a brick or concrete wall, he absorbs it's properties but still maintains his normal hgt. Last decent Creel was the one in the FFF BAF wave.

Also, I'm really not feeling Binary's geometric pointy hair effect. I know it's accurate to the style of the comics, but I think this is an example of when a two-dimensional art concept doesn't translate very well to three-dimensional action figure form.
Had a damaged Marvel Select Dark Phoenix figure, so I used her sculpt to emulate Carol's more recent Binary form. Prefer this more chaotic flaming hair sculpt in contrast. |
