Thanks to a suggestion from jwyss, I got an idea for a Peter Parker custom. And I made it. Need to use a bit more acetone on the shoes, and I do wish I had a better right hand. But I think it's pretty good.

Calling them bootlegs is technically not right because they're customs that were made to order and not a knock-off release of some previous toy. He has answered this before but they are 3D printed custom orders from somebody in Mexico, I'm sure he can share more useful information if you're so inclined.

It appears we'll be seeing some "X-Men: The Animated Series" reveals for Marvel Legends next week. Eric and Julia Lewald, who worked on the show, will be appearing on the Marvel panel, as well as David Nakayama, who did the artwork for the Target exclusive Retro Rogue and Retro Gambit figures last year. I'm hopeful we'll see some new, preferably non cel-shaded, Retro X-Men figures next year, as I'd love to finally find and buy characters like Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Magneto and Mystique. And of course, Morph is a must among most X-Men T.A.S. fans.
Also, over on The Fwoosh, it seems like we're getting a new classic Toad figure, though it's unclear if it's for the Marvel Legends 20th anniversary wave or a different one. What do you guys think of the possible news?

It annoys me that one Tigra head has cheek stripes & not the other. Now I can't decide whether to add stripes to one or remove them from the other.

What do you guys think of the possible news? As far as characters from TAS, I basically already have anyone I'd need, with the exception of Morph, of course- and being AS only (up to the point I read), if they never made him, I'd be cool.... though I'd buy him in a heartbeat if they did. Altruistically speaking, though- I do hope they reissue some characters, like Beast and Jubilee. The aftermarkets on them are prohibitive, to say the least... they nearly prevented me from jumping in, actually. |

Animated X-men villains with a Blob BAF would be the best outcome for me... animated Blob is my fav Blob. Reissues of blue Beast, Jubilee and Jim Lee Cyclops on retro cards would be okay too. I wonder if they are going back to 90s X-men because the HoX/Pox and AoA X-men waves didn't do as well as expected. I don't even think the all villains wave with Lady Deathstrike did all that well either.

They probably just want to do different themes.

Which is good because the x stuff wholly embraces that as theres so many different themes to draw from across its many iterations and universes.

Last update on my Emma Frost conversion, I promise.
Dagger legs are mostly a perfect fit, and thigh width are SLIGHTLY off, but neither is noticeable enough to make me want to try more solutions. She stands, and looks good doing it and that is what matters to me. Last edited by DarthKamen; 10-17-2021 at 12:01 PM.. |

I hope they make a Marvel Legends Morph figure in his Bomber jacket.

Since I was unable to find/buy characters like Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Magneto and Mystique from previous single releases and/or boxed set releases, I do hope they'll re-release any of those characters. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll see new accessories with them, such as the new grey Beast smiling head re-painted blue for Beast, a new head sculpt and an optic blast for Cyclops, and fireworks blast effects for Jubilee. Naturally, we'll get some kind of Wolverine and I'm hoping we'll see a civilian clothes Logan with an alternate head wearing a cowboy hat. Morph has to be one of the characters due to fan demand, so I'm sure we'll see him if they make a Retro X-Men T.A.S. toyline.
Since we have the Retro Rogue and Retro Gambit figures from last year currently back in stock on Target's website, do you think we'll see some kind of Retro X-Men and/or Retro Spider-Man Target exclusives revealed for pre-order like last year? |

On a cursory pass through after canceling some orders I've learned that Psycho Man is "in stock" at Dorkside. The character has joined the Thing along with the other spot/or partial fulfillments from upcoming waves. The logistical plot thickens as things become more and more curious.

I mean, it’s a cheap-looking unauthorized use of IP, being sold commercially, and being presented here explicitly as a cheaper alternative to a licensed product. It may not look like the legitimate version, and maybe it was designed with a little more love than a Chinese knock-off, but it’s very definitely a bootleg. If the seller were based in the US, Disney would have already sued them into oblivion. Not sure what the Mouse’s reach into Mexico looks like, but Nimrod/Gigantor is likely doing this seller no favours by posting so regularly about their operation on forums that Hasbro reps are known to lurk.
Damn dude, can you disguise your haterade for these any better? You work for Hasbro or are you their snitch? They may be "cheaplooking" to you but I bet there are many here that do like em & would buy these in a heartbeat if Hasbro were to do them at this scale for a future X-Men related line. |

If I were a Hasbro snitch, I’d be quietly dialing up Disney, not publicly warning you against ruining things for this poor seller. I personally don’t have a lot of respect for heavy-handed intellectual property litigation, but I was explaining why “bootleg” was an accurate description of your sentinels. For a dude who repeatedly calls COVID the “China virus” because you “don’t sugar-coat things”, and routinely shits on everyone else’s opinions like you’ve never had to interact with real live humans before, you sure seem to need this sugar-coated.

@ Nimrod I think your line of questioning ('Hateraid') could easily be flipped around on you. On a couple of levels. It's one thing to like your customs, which is fine and they are cool. But you consistently set up this comparative that not only disparages Hasbro's decision to make a runaway success of a project (minus unforeseen supply chain problems), but you're also actively judging the decision of consumers to buy said project. And while doing so, you've thrown out some odd red herrings; "oh, people must be rich for buying this" while you've revealed that you payed $600 dollars for your Sentinel customs and routinely buy $60 figs, and "people have spacious homes to keep their collections in" while you own 4-6 of the custom Sentinels (not much smaller) and have a miniature dio STREET complete with two story buildings of both custom and mainstream manufacturing (NECA) variety (all of which taking up space in your home). A lot of what you say doesn't add up, unless viewed from the prospective of provocative troll. Which is also fine as long as there is some sincerity in presentation.
Why not just say you wish Hasbro would consider a retro Sentinel, rather than making a commitment to bashing popular projects? Also, invoking the term "snitch" is laughable. You livin' that life, bruh? Lol Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 10-17-2021 at 08:03 PM.. Reason: Typos. Texting while watching the Seahawks..."Go Hawks?" |

Some fans want a Morph figure with a bomber jacket, and some want one without, so why not have it both ways, like Retro Mr. Fantastic and Moira Mctaggert, it's a win win.

Too bad they didn't start the interchangeable arms things when they released the love triangle set... that Cyclops would have been the perfect Cyclops if he came with normal arms too.

Fun fact: that set is what brought me back after dropping the line in the Toybiz days in favor of a ARAH G.I. Joe-only collection. I'd say that despite the permanent jacket, the set was a perfect re-introduction to the line. I'd go as far as to call the Wolvie and Jean Grey figures definitive. |

The other week you had asked about figure stands. I picked up a set of the figure stands I linked to on Amazon and they arrived today. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Z77XL5Y...mcd_asin_0_img The figure stands have to be assembled so you'll need a small Phillips head screw driver and some side cutters since most of the pieces are on a spru. I assembled two stands and used them with the Marvel Legends Miles Morales and Iron Man Mark 85 as well as the DC Multiverse Hal Jordan. I left out one of the arms on the stand that I assembled for Miles. I then took that extra arm and put it into the larger stand that I have Iron Man on. The height with that extra arm piece makes the height comparable to a Mezco stand. Miles' stand uses the base, a normal length arm, a shorter length arm, the clamp, and the pieces that connect to the base and the clamp to the arm pieces. I had a little trouble placing Iron Man in this set up. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure he'll do just fine using two normal length arm pieces rather than one normal and one short. One important thing to note is that the bases are rounded on top. I didn't attempt any sort of pose with Hal Jordan. I just threw him into the taller stand to see how it'd perform. Overall, the stands are fine. IMO, you're getting what you paid for with these. They're very affordable and they seem suitable for keeping your figures standing. The bases also have a small diameter which means less space is taken up on your shelf. They also work with larger scale figures like DC Multiverse. However, the stands are not perfect. The smaller diameter of the display base means they'll tip over easier when you have a figure in a flying pose. I would suggest using two of these stands if you're displaying a figure in a flight pose. Also, the plastic quality isn't on par with Tamashii, Mafex, and Mezco stands. The plastic just feels a little weaker than what's used on the big name stands. The only way I see this being an issue is if you're constantly taking figures out of the clamps to repose them or if you plan on leaving a larger figure, such has a DC Multiverse figure, in a flight pose with only one stand. |

The Obitsu stands have much wider bases and, in my estimation, they're the best. I've used them for years (at least 5 to 6). I said noting when you initially commented because I knew someone would mention them; the topic has been discussed numerous times on the thread throughout the years with many people asking me when I first used them. A wider base obviously allows for greater balance and they feature a variety of clip sizes which lends to more dynamic posing.
Yours look very similar but a wider base makes a big difference: Tensile strength allows for arm contortion which in turn gives you the ability to hide them, but, again, the foundation is key: Height and kinetic motion can be achieved even with added heft heft (some of these stands have two figs clipped to them): In short, while yours are fine, I would've opted for Obitsus. |
