I wonder if that rumor about What If characters showing up in the movies holds some weight...I know Funko listed a bunch of product for Multiverse of Madness and they included a listing for "Supreme Strange", which we now know is the evil-looking Strange we saw from the What If trailer.

That Supreme Strange is actually the highlight of the batch for me. As one youtube commenter put it, he looks like he has seen some shit. |

All I want is some comic Spider-Man figures and Banshee.

Understandable! I'm going to flip that around for me though and say all I want to see are some 616 Universe X-Men figures, even though I love the AOA it'll be nice to get a main universe non-themed wave; and for Spider-Man, Morlun.

They're almost certainly gonna be using that cloak piece for a classic Strange next year. Calling it now. |

Well, that sure was interesting! Thoughts on the reveals:
- Easy pass on the “What If?” figures, although they’re very well done. Peggy might be purchased if she hits clearance, as she’s the least stylized, and as I’m a huge fan of the character. - Holy shit, Binary! So, I have pined for this character as a figure since I started collecting, but felt pretty safe assuming we’d never actually get her. In this case, I am very happy to be wrong! She looks excellent (love that her posing in one of the promo shots emulates the cover of UXM 164#), and I’m even happier because seeing her produced (along with some other hints the team’s offered) makes me feel pretty safe in saying that more Starjammers are inbound! Which is outstanding, as they, outside of a seventies Ms. Marvel & Banshee, are my biggest want in the line. - Tigra is off, but I’m still happy to have her. Most art (particularly bronze age) has her fur lighter, like the original Hasbro figure. I was thinking less Dorito & more Pepperidge Farms Goldfish in terms of tone. . I dunno, maybe it’ll look better in-hand. Same goes for the headsculpts, they’re not really doing it for me, particularly as classic Tigra. In “Marvel Chillers” or “West Coast Avengers” she was always more cat-like. I suppose this is more of a modern take. Thrilled about having a better articulated version of her, though, which makes this an easy upgrade. - Vulture is a cool surprise. I never finished the BAF (couldn’t find homemade Spidey), so I’ll likely end up getting this one, as a huge fan of “Homecoming.” I’m mostly out as an in-general on MCU figures, but I like this design enough that I want it. - Black Hand ninjas I am on the fence about. I would rather have seen a re-release of the red, or a white for the Chaste, but these are still cool looking. The Hand ninja sculpt is great, and the first release was such fun to pose. - Wow… Psycho-Man? Damn, can’t believe it! Not like he leaked a while ago… in all seriousness, cool tease, I’m excited they’re including his device as an accessory, it’ll look great displayed with them. That said, I am getting impatient about seeing how Psycho-Man and the (now virtually confirmed) High Evolutionary turned out! Overall, the “What If?” focus wasn’t for me, but the comics figures they showed were great, and I’m anxious to see the Fantastic Four & Excalibur figures that it feels as though we’ve been waiting forever on. |

Not a lot that I am interested in this time, but will be pre-ordering Sylvie and Captain Carter for sure. Sylvie is a new favorite for me and I love that they did her cloak and the little tied back top bun for her hair. Two great little touches that make me love the figure. Captain Carter looks good enough to display with my MCU figs since I don't have any other Peggy and I adore Hayley Atwell. Maybe evil looking Doctor Strange too. I am not totally sold on him but I do like the idea of a Strange who has potentially been thru the ringer and maybe even fallen to the dark side.
I love that we are getting more retro figures (currently Avengers themed). Hopefully they keep going back to the different waves like this. I would love to get a retro Morph for the next retro X-men figure! |

Everything was just so underwhelming today. I love the Captain Carter and Spider-Man "What If?" figures, but that was about it. Tigra looks off, the Hand Ninja does nothing for me, Binary looks okay but isn't essential to my collection, and 'Homecoming' Vulture curiously does not have a Michael Keaton alternate head. While I'm legitimately happy for M.C.U. collectors, most of this year's reveals and waves are mediocre so far. Having nothing to reveal in regards to the Retro Fantastic Four wave and whatever they're doing with Excalibur isn't helping raise my excitement, either. I really hope we'll see more Retro and comic book waves for the fall and especially in 2022. I sincerely hope the Marvel Legends reveals in August are much, MUCH better than what we saw in July.
I hope you all are having a great day and stay safe, everyone. Last edited by StuartGreen2019; 07-28-2021 at 12:56 PM.. |

See, this is why I don't like over-analyzing and reading into the shelves behind the guys. Nothing on those shelves wound up being a hint for today's reveals.
As it stands the "What If?" wave is a complete pass for me, as is the accompanying deluxe HYDRA Stomper. I'll be skipping Binary, although if she leads to a Starjammers box set that'd be cool. The Vulture redo is interesting to me because he has some new, more accurate sculpting but his colors are quite brighter than they were in the movie to the point of looking like old comic art. I might get him but then again he's Target exclusive so it might a total pain in the ass to try, especially since I do have the complete BAF. Tigra looks fine but I feel liker her hair should have more volume to it, maybe I'm just stuck picturing her WCA look so this figure going more modern is messing with me. The Psycho-Man tease does support the leaks that said we'll be getting High Evolutionary in the retro FF wave so that's exciting.

Honestly, I'm just getting Tigra and the hand ninja, but like 4 of them.
Did they say why Nebula has blonde hair? I know it's "what if" but like when she had hair, it was blue. I want that look. |

Binary looks awesome. She's a must-have.
Tigra looks...okay. I'll get her, but neither head sculpt looks right to me. Is it the hair? Are the heads too small? This may be a case where I actually pay attention to early in-hand reviews, just to temper my own expectations. |

We've never seen MCU Nebula with hair so maybe it just is blonde.

Anyone else see the new Shang-Chi trailer? Looks pretty great, really amped up from the teaser. Honestly, for toys, I wish the Wenwu would have had a longhaired version, I could at least visually accept it's the MCU Mandarin (even if the name and the rings concept is changed). Also I really hope this does come in September. I probably won't go see it (or anything) in the theaters for a long while, but sooner to release means sooner for home purchase!

I hear ya, Nash. I hope it comes out on time. I'll watch it on Disney+ if I have to, but I'm feeling it now. Definitely looking better each time I see a trailer for it.

Looking at that Watcher, I see myself getting it as an alternate universe/reality Watcher. However, I'll likely just buy the BAF. Nothing else really rises to the level of 'want' from the What If? wave. I will say again that Exiles is far more preferable to me as a fan of alternate Marvel realities than What If? and Marvel Studios really missed an opportunity to go with an X-related title to delve into the multiverse.

I've been to the theaters like 8 times since they reopened in March and since I just renewed my AMC premier status for another year, I'll be seeing Shang-Chi in theaters for sure.
We had a trailer last week that had Abomination in it. That was weird to see. I didn't even know he was going to be in the movie.
