These are incredibly cool! I love the designs, and I love the scale, and I love that sewer playset!

I totally missed the classics stuff earlier. Thanks for catching that!
Honestly like the regular action figures from the main line better. I never thought I would say that, but the classics ones just look...off to me for some reason. Hopefully they look better in person. I'll be buying the other line. All four turtles and the turtle van looks awesome.

Wow just when I thought Playmates was forever stuck in the 90s they bring out these bad boys. VERY impressive Playmates. Will get all the main turtles, hope we got a classic Shredder coming!

I dunno. The classics don't sit right with me. Maybe because I consider the "Classic" Turtles to be the original designs, which ironically the new series toys are much closer to.

I couldn't get the NECA tmnt figures so the new series ones look alright to me. Seems like the classics are more articulated though, I don't see ankle articulation nor thigh swivels on the new series turtles.

I kinda like the Classics. Mainly because they look like the original cartoon Turtles. That was my introduction to the characters, so those are the ones I relate to. I think I'll definitely be picking them up, as well as the new Turtles. Like them both.

If the classic figures can coincide with the shellraiser, then hot damn!

These seem more like "Classic cartoon" designs, like based on the original cartoon. Maybe they should label that on the packaging, "based on the original cartoon!".

Seems like the classics are more articulated though, I don't see ankle articulation nor thigh swivels on the new series turtles. I dunno why, but they just don't sit right with me, and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe they're just... too cartoony? I really don't know. I know as a kid, I preferred to play with the four movie turtles, than the original set, as my main toys. Combined with everything getting updated with better detailing, more "realistic" color sets, and such... I've always preferred something along the lines of (a better engineered) Classics Hotrod, more than the cartoon accurate MP Hotrod. I really don't dislike these toys at all, and I'm very likely to get them. I just... I dunno. Something about them feels very off to me, and I really don't understand why.

Hopefully the price is right! These look like fun! I am sad at the lack of Casey Jones though...

The old cartoon did not age well but I'm no hater, that's what I grew up with! I respect it for nostalgia. Would want cartoon Shredder, Wingnut, April o Neil, Casey Jones, and I would definitely army build some Foot Soldiers if they're just as articulated! Those might be the sleeper hits we never got good Foot Soldier figures! Wonder if the license covers the 90's movie because I definitely want super articulated figures of those designs!

Oh, I understand and I agree. And the cartoon was my introduction to them too. And they are great looking toys.

No, really, I´ll probably have to see the new cartoon first before getting the new ones. Most chances are that I will get them. As for the 80´s cartoon ones, I really like them, they specially remind me of the ones from the NES/SNES games. The wife will kill me... more TMNT sets!!! |

This confirms my ultimate regret of not getting the reissue TMNT van when there were 5 of them collecting dust on the TRU shelf.

So interesting story.
So comic-con 2011 was in town and after making our rounds for the day my gf and I decided we were done, starving and in need of a hot shower and a nap after combing the many isles of the con. Downtown gaslamp district was packed and many familiar venues had been transformed into panel parties. We decided to venture out towards our favorite downtown SD pizza place only to find out that this was closed off to the public because a panel was about to air soon. Defeated, we both begin to round the corner and search for the taxi that will bring us salvation. Instead, once we turned the corner we were ambushed by 15 foot soldiers menacingly blocking our path and threatening us into the building. Ok so it was really staff in black pajamas handing out red, blue, purple and orange bandanna masks (I took red) and they said we should just go in and say shredder sent us. We walk in and find a large group of TMNT fans gathered and receiving free bottles of water and being served pizza by the slice, cowa-freakin-bunga dudes! The stage was setup like a new York alleyway with trash bins. This panel introduced the creators of the new cartoon, the writer apparently just started studying ninjutsu as a martial art and wanted to incorporate more of the actual philosophy into the cartoon to give it a new feel. April O'Neil will be trained as a kunoichi (female ninja) and interesting weapon upgrades like Mikey's nunchucks converting into a Kasari gama are examples of new ideas that they were bringing. Then out of nowhere the trash bins we were standing next to to get a better view of the screen behind the podium flung open and revealed the new toys you see in this thread! Fellow Arkers I can attest to the coolness of these figures and will definitely be picking up the turtles. There was also a turtle bike that converts to a stealth mode when the turtle shell slides over the driver ( I assume the stealth tech is in the shell or something in the cartoon) and it was pretty awesome. If these look just as good at retail as they did in the panel I might be hooked on a new line. Crap.

Loving that playset, though I will probably only limit myself to the Classics and maybe Shredder, if he's available in that series.
I will say the oversized 4" figures look pretty good too, but I have to pick my battles. EDIT: Oh, hell. Who am I kidding? I want the Turtles in both series...and Shredder leading a Foot Soldier army....and the playset...and...and... ...and damn, my wallet just flatlined again.

I was just looking for info on this new series last night after I found out that Kevin m Richardson is going to voice Shedder.
I have to say, I'm really digging the new figure's style. I might end up hitting this line hard. The Classic figures also look pretty cool. They even have toe articulation. That's kind of crazy. That playset is kind of funny, given we were just recently talking about how small that Helacarrior playset is. Go figure. |

Though I can see the direction they're going in. He does sound like a good match for James Avery.

He did a awesome job as the Joker in The Batman series. If he can bring that same kind of unique talent to his Shredder, I'll be happy. Last edited by Paxtin; 02-01-2012 at 01:58 PM.. |

I'll be buying the classics. I just now found out about the previous Neca figures. I think I'll pick those up too.
Can we get a TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze Footclan Ryan Reynolds please? |
