Yeah, don't see much of a likeness with either Apollo head but the rest of the figure is so nice its not really a big deal, imo.

This whole wave is very well-done. And great photos as usual, Joe, blah, blah, blah...

Hey Joe (or anyone, really), I have some questions about Apollo. First, what are the wrists like after you pop the boxing gloves off (provided the gloves are removable)? Is it a little peg that a standard NECA hand would fit on, or something else? Also, does anyone who knows anything about dissembling NECA figures know if it's possible to separate this figure at the waist? I'm thinking of putting Apollo's upper body on a Dutch lower and finally having a Dillon all my very own. Doable?

The gloves are removable. Slightly larger ball joint page in there, but you can remove that as well. I've seen people put Dutch's gloved hands in their place once they remove that peg.

I didn't think the jacket was removable - how did you get it off?

#1. great photo shoot. Lately I've really been enjoying the shots you do for different figures.

2. Thanks for now making me want a Creed figure. I had NO DESIRE WHATSOEVER FOR HIM.. Because of that hat and jacket. now that I've seen him without, I'd like to own that..and pose him next to ole' clubber.

Thanks. Is there waist articulation, or just the ab joint?

Hey, when I made my Dillon, all I did was remove Apollo's legs at the hips (using the boil & pop method) and slide off the rubber trunks overlay. Then pop the legs and rubber pants overlay off of Dutch and put those onto the Apollo body. You'll need to paint the balljoint hips and crotch green to match the pants, but it's very minimal.

Like Joe said, the gloved hands from Jungle Extraction Dutch fit perfectly on Apollo's arms.

It's an easy mod but the results are nearly factory perfect. Good luck!

Ooh, now you've got me excited about getting Apollo's pants off...um, wait. That sounded bad.

Seriously though, that sounds way easy. I'm totally doing it! I'll hit up TRU tomorrow and grab an Apollo and when the Predator 30th wave hits I'll grab an extra Dutch to cannibalize. Thanks for the tips!

BTW, can you post a pic of your Dillon custom? I'd like to see how good it looks.

The only reason I'm holding off building my own Dillon (well- other than the $40+ in parts ) is that NECA has got to be planning it out since they got his likeness rights with Rocky... unless Weathers is being a jerk about the property I can't see how a Dillon figure isn't dropping within the next year...

Weathers' likeness rights are included with the Rocky license per MGM's terms and contracts which were made when contracts were formed for filming so just by gaining the Rocky license NECA had that permission but under limitations that they could only be used for making figures of his character under said license. 20th Century never made the actors sign off for their likeness rights with regards to the Predator license which is why they have to go separately to Weathers to forge a separate agreement on use of likeness with regards to his character from Predator. So just because we're seeing usage of his likeness for one toy doesn't mean that we'll necessarily see it for another anytime soon. Technically NECA made their first Apollo Creed figure years ago and obviously we've yet to get a Dillon. Here's hoping though that maybe the positive reception to this Apollo could assist in furthering an actual deal with Weathers for Dillon.

They reached out to Carl Weathers again this week to try and get it done. They also reached out to him when they were planning Predator 30th releases. I don't have high hopes at all, but I give Randy credit for trying a few times every year.

Hah, I was trying to word my post delicately, so I wasn't just saying "take off his pants!!"

It's a fun and rewarding mod to do and the results are great. There's a bit of a gap around the hips, but you could glue the overlay down to minimize it.

The hat used is from a Mezco Heroes Skylar (fits without any mods to the head), though I've been meaning to upgrade to a hat from a Mattel Elite HHH figure, which is the exact military style Dillon wore. I was waiting on this new Apollo so I could get some extra heads to dremel the hair down on. The vest is from Jungle Patrol Dutch.

Yeah, we all appreciate Randy taking one (or rather, many) for the team by dealing with that weirdo over and over. Whoever would have thought that how he acted during his guest spot on Arrested Development was how he was in real life?

Oh yeah! That is some fine quality craftsmanship, my friend! Really great work.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the slight gap at the hips, but it's really not bad at all. I might even have a spare Commando figure lying around somewhere, so if I use that I won't even have to paint the pants. I'm totally doing this...thanks for posting the pics!

BTW, where did you get the twin machine guns from? They're perfect!

Thanks, man!

The guns are actually from the NECA Cult Classics John McClane figure...so they're unfortunately not readily available anymore, but there might be a more recent version somewhere.
