The best villains are the godlike ones... Dark Phoenix...Loki...Galactus...etc...
Would Dr. Doom be considered god like? Dr. Doom or Mr. Sinister would be my choices. |

After reading Dark Reign, I gotta say Norman Osborn. You give a guy who scan schmooze up like that and then put on some Iron Man armor and kick ass and make lots of people think he's a good guy... whooooboy. And he's got lots of other villains under his thumb.

To me, the best villains are the ones that are complex. And the ones that you can genuinely find yourself sympathizing with.
Which disqualifies most of the godlike villains, in my book. Apocalypse, Galactus, Dark Phoenix, while neat are pretty much maguffin characters. They're the big bads, the ultimate power, and the ultimate challenge for our heroes to overcome. And honestly, they don't really need to be anything more than that in order to be fun, and to work. Magneto, Sandman, Doctor Octopus, Dr. Doom, the original Thunderbolts, to me are great villains. They're all very deep and complex characters. But I'd choose Doom as top favorite.

I agree. Sure Dr Doom has had Latveria under his thumb, but whoop-dee-fucking-do! Osborn snuck in for the kill and took over as top cop for the worlds most powerful nation. He even tricked the God of War too! He even had DOOM under his thumb in his Cabal, heck Namor too. Osborn went from a man in a goblin suit giving Spider-Man a hard time, to the most powerful man in the world. Fuck not to mention he stole Stark Tech here!

not sure what instance you reference?but either way no one saves Doom,he would have found a way to survive, just look at the new FF4 latest issue, they tried to fry Doom with fire and he shrugged it off.

Killing Doom with fire is a joke, A JOKE. If the Human Torch couldn't fry him over 50 years or some shit, no one can. Also that lady was Morgan Le Fay and she had Doom BEAT. He couldn't move, couldn't defend himself, and the only way for him to survive was to let Norman Osborn into his suit tech to break the virus. Of course, Doom being stubborn said no right away to this, but you KNOW you are good if you convince DOOM. If you want to read all this, it is Dark Avengers #1 - #4.
