Have any of you tried re-sealing a figure and returning it?

If it is broken, I can't see them giving you a hard time about at least getting store credit.

Or was it broken in-package and you didn't notice until you opened it?

If you reseal it, they will put it back on the shelf and someone else will buy it and be stuck with a broken figure.
Just take it back as is and tell them you want to exchange it for a new one.

Don't be underhanded. Just return the broken figure and try for store credit.

Do what I've done, get someone aka friend, family member to call the store, explain the situation ie bought toy, opened, realized it was broken, would like to get either $$ back or exchange. Based on the call, act accordingly, if they say they won't touch opened merchandise. Then reseal it, and take it back, or locate their corporate contact info and contact them explaining the situation. If they will accept it back the way it is, go back already and exchange it. I'd get someone else to call encase they don't accept them, then walking in returning it won't seem as obvious.

I think it all comes down to how it broke. Resealing a broken fig with intent to return it as a new complete fig would be wrong. Just be honest enough to work within there return policy.

Not to doubt your plan but if a small store like GameStop received a call about there return policy on a toy and then latter that day someone brings in a toy to return in the same store they might see a connection. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I disagree on this. A toy that broke within the terms of the return policy should be returned regardless of how it broke. All that matters is that it is defective and is worthless.

The "no refund for open figures" might just apply to figures that you bought from them but no longer want from them. A broken toy is a defective product so I don't see why they wouldn't give you a refund.

What figure was it ? You may want to contact the manufacturer, I know hasbro is cool about this sort of thing. years ago when "removable helmet darth vader, from POTF was hard to find, i found one in a store packaged without a helmet, I wrote, yes it was that long ago, hasbro and asked if they could sell me a helmet or send me one as I already had bought the figure. They sent me a brand new darth, no return no questions, I've also herd other people have had good luck with Hasbro as well as lego and a few others.

My advice is to just bring the broken figure (with package) with receipt to Gamestop, and explain the situation. They should offer at least a store credit or exchange for a similar product. |

I say return it and if they say no immediately ask for the district managers number. Nothing motivates like attention from above.

I hope your not serious. Returning a re-sealed figure to the store you bought it from is one thing. But we can try to be a little bit more honest than that, can't we?
