I'm leaning on not buying even though there's definite pros and cons.
Pros: Toon accurate so design choices and accessories are understandable (the old toys were great for the action gimmicks), pretty good sculpting detail, looks to scale well with other lines they make, especially Thundercats. Cons: Paint. It's too flat, give some love, some shine or gloss. Vac Metal is definitely not going to work and that's acceptable. Better paint would make the asking price sting less. Articulation I am worried for, especially the head. If you're going for toon accuracy you must have a good flying pose (head/neck hyper extension). I do like the idea of a detachable faceshield mask like in the toon but I still remember the paint chipping on noses so giving a alt head/face or spare one would be best. From what I can remember from the cartoon, the villians look pretty good and accurate but this was always going to come down and the real challenge is the Silverhawks heroes. Praise to the nice work for Mon*star and Buzz-Saw, but needed to nail the heroes, especially that Quicksilver for me. Last edited by AceSimulacrum; 06-10-2021 at 03:17 PM.. |

That price is ridiculous and they're not even shiny.
I don't have a good feeling about their upcoming Godzilla line -at all. |

I don't get it, do any of you guys do ANY research? Flynn has been on multiple podcasts discussing the issues with production and getting Thundercats right. They've been shipping TMNT figures pretty much like clockwork. Everyone is complaining but doing zero research at the same time. |

You guys are a joke, $20 figures. They're going to sell a couple thousand of these AT MOST. No one gives a shit about Silverhawks, you guys get that right? You want a figure that no one gives a shit about, you gotta pay up. By the way, you've clearly not bought any Figma figures because you can't get hardly anything for less than $100 from them.
Their tmnt line has been a blast. Barely have any issues with them and it's the one like I'm most looking forward too. Silverhawks look fine. About on point with the rest of their stuff. These should look way better in hand if any of their other cartoon figures are enough to go off of |

Yeah, fair bit of negativity in here.
I'm grabbing them. I actually like the cartoon aesthetics... I'd probably buy them again if we got toy aesthetics, at least of certain characters but that's another discussion. That Buzz-Saw is brilliant. |

Figma haven't been 40 bucks for almost 10 years. Hell lucky if any good smile figure is that cheap.

These should look way better in hand if any of their other cartoon figures are enough to go off of GSC shows physical products and Super7 shows renders. Look at Mon-Star's elbows. Super7 is cheating with the renders to show a greater range of motion than will be possible with the actual figure. I have 3 Super7 Ultimates figures and all 3 have QC issues. There are reasons to question the price and to not want to buy something based on renders only. |

While the ultimates I have don't have many qc issues I've heard the horror stories of early motu super7 figures. My only complaint with their current ultimates is I wish the turtle knees felt a bit thicker. But not the end of the world for me since they don't seem to be at risk of breaking. I agree they should have waited to show the figured off when they had resin molds to show off but I'm expecting a YouTube video showing off the resin molds within a week. I'll also not order them off their site so I can see how they look before I decide |

Almost twice what NECA charges for similar figures, even niche ones. I'm not buying the argument that these need to be twice as expensive as NECA figures.

NECA makes enough to actually sell them in a retail store. These are probably being made in the thousands. Not tens or hundreds of thousands, thousands. Having that small of a production run means each unit needs to be a higher price, because stuff like material cost (or for something like this, especially the cost of the actual steel molds) isn't being spread over as many units as something produced in much greater quantity. Similar reason BotCon exclusives for Transformers were so substantially pricier than retail release of the same molds: produced in substantially lower quantity, so they have to increase the price to make up for that loss of economy of scale.

You'd be paying $50 per figure if they didn't have deals at Target and Walmart. There's a reason NECA has been able to make like 15+ new molds for the cartoon Turtles in a year and it's Target's $$$. They've been able to do that while not selling the cartoon TMNT figures to specialty shops.

It’s funny how people want to complain without understanding the logistics and realities of the production process. Even if they do understand, some people will still complain. They seem to always to always know better. People are certainly entitled to their opinion on whether they like these figures or not, but comparing them to what other companies are doing with other lines seems pointless.

I would compare them to a company who doesn't sell to retail.
How about Mythic Legions for instance. Their normal figures are $50 at BBTS/other retail, they're $35 if you prepay and buy direct from Four Horsemen, but they also have TONS of re-use. Essentially the same molds used for like 80%+ of each figure. They only came out with spare hand parts this year, so you don't get a lot of accessories and practically none of those are unique. And they're STILL $35-50 with zero license costs. |

On that note, some next level stuff would be a face that's half masked and half unmasked from top to bottom, to simulate how they would swipe their hands down their faces to activate their masks in the cartoon. Not that it would be possible with a S7 figure anyway. But a neat feature on a figure with better articulation IMO. |

Hmmm... I vaguely remember the cartoon as a kid, but don’t remember ever watching it or having friends that watched it. It kind of blipped in and out in my neck of the woods.

An alternate masked head is what I would expect from s7, it's fine. I know I wouldn't want a mask accessory fitting over a face tho. I'd prefer the way SHF does it with being able to swap out both faces...Vega is a great example.

Go as metallic vac-metal like as you want in the smaller scale for those that want a Miraj (always felt 1/18 was a nice scale for vehicle toylines). The interested target collector is getting older, should try to nail it down now as perfeclty as possible. I imagine in the future we would either be less interested or be more sensitive to price. The villains look great. The Hawks themselves... they're OK. I don't like that the wings/wing-arms are just solid pieces- that really limits the posing options with the wings on. For this price, we should be able to put them in more action-oriented flying poses, or with wings out but arms down at their sides, not just a normal in-flight pose. I also don't trust their quality control enough for the human faces to buy them sight unseen- I could see some of them looking great, and some of them having issues. With very simple facial features like this, the paint jobs on the faces have to be extremely accurate and on-point. If I see the two heroes at a toy show for regular price or close to it, where I can check out the paint job, I might buy them, but I don't think I'll take the pre-order gamble.
Buzzsaw looks great. I loved the toy as a kid, and if he were in the bright green toy colors he would be an absolute must buy. There's a good chance I'll still buy him, though. Mon-Star is the only definite buy for me. Do I wish he was cheaper? Sure, but he looks great, Mon-Star's design is relatively simple, but extremely badass. If they do Mo-Lec-U-Lar, Melodia, Poker Face, Yes Man... those would all be must-buys for me. This may end up being a line where I mainly buy the villains. |

Quick edit.
These are an approximation of what the figures would look like with metallic paint. Apparently the official photos have already been retouched to remove contrast and modify the color. It's possible that the original work of the Four Horsemen is closer to that of my edits. I've verified that they are not digital renderings, are physical prototypes photographs. |

Head swapping on Monstar seems like it's going to be rather precarious even if they end up being a softer plastic. And those spikes probably aren't going to be as sharp looking as they are in the pics.

These look fantastic, and this is coming from someone who never saw Silverhawks. I've at least gotten to hear the opening theme.
