Definitely picks up right after Brightest Day and the Search for Swamp Thing books.
I read it to my 7 year old and he was ready for #2. SPOILER Superman was in it, he's shown as Clark, with Lois and Perry, in the Daily Planet. (In case you were wondering how drastically he's been ret conned.) |

Cleaned up thread. The forum is for discussion of DC Comics, so individual threads for different comics is exactly what this is for.

Thanks, Joe.
You didn't by any chance read Swamp Thing #1 and want to talk about it, did you? |

So has anything been retconned for Swamp Thing, or is it like Green Lantern where some continuity is kept?

I saw Swamp Thing 2 (the movie, it rocked!). I collected Swamp Thing toys, remember those? I watched the Swamp Thing toon... and I read Brightest Day and the Search for Swamp Thing. This new series spins right out of those last 2. He does make refference to Abigail Arcane (she had white hair, right?). Are you a big Swamp Thing fan Shin? |

But is it any good? I love my Swamp Thing figure but know little of his origins or anything. Does it explain any of this?

I thought it was pretty good. Its very smartly written. The story is well placed and you can feel Alec's anguish about the situation he is in. I have bought a bunch of the new 52 but I think this is the best read followed by Animal Man. They are not traditional fare by any means and very very story driven. The characters are not perfect, in fact they are quite flawed but that is what makes it so great. This is a title worth picking up.

I am hoping it will keep going strong. Since the first arc is almost over I am excited to see how the next goes. The entire bit about Abby being part of the Rot caught me really off guard. They need to keep it up. I am kind of hoping they will bring back Anton. The last I saw of him he was a minor demon.

I am most def going to be keeping up with this series. I am all caught up and in a few days the new one comes out. Sadly, I have to wait because my LCS isn't really a comic shop...just a pile of shit.

Really? That sucks. The store I go to the owner reads all the books that come in. He offers a book of the week each week that is you don't like it you can return it no question asked. Swamp Things was one but I knew I was getting it right from the get go.

Wow, that is all I have to say. Issue 7 was great, it doesn't wrap things up yet but it has a great ending. The story gets better and better as it goes.
Spoiler Alex becomes Swamp Thing again. That alone makes the story worth while. I am waiting for the Animal Man cross over. It should be sweet |
