It looks a little more plastic-heavy than some of the other recent ThreeZero releases. It still looks great, but I'm just a bit more reserved about this one. I do need a good Voltron, though.

When I was a kid, Voltron was affordable. Every release I’ve seen nowadays, he’s always clear into the hundreds. This looks gorgeous, but Three Zero makes me think $$$$$

But ThreeZero I think has a better value to money ratio than most others. This will probably be somewhere between 200-300 but I could also see them pricing it lower since it is a comparatively simpler piece than say their Dancouga which was 299. |

That's because those products were aimed at kids. Just like you have budget friendly vehicles and premium vehicles. You can spend the minimum to buy a functioning computer or spend more much to get all the bells and whistles. So you if you are looking at premium products, you will be paying premium prices. There were plenty of budget friendly Voltrons in the recent years when the Netflix show was on. |

The playmates '84 Voltron was pretty affordable...around $120 for all 5 lions. And they even did a second run where it was around $65 for all the lions.

There is a KO company that has a similar version and I think its only 1 inch shorter. I think I'll pass on this and get the Blitzway version.

So I was mistaken, these are indeed five lions that form together to make Voltron.
No word on price but it would nice if it's not $700. You know it's so weird. So by the end of the week you can Order a SOC Voltron (At 10'6" inches) Preorder the Blitzway Voltron(the tallest at 13-14 inches) Preorder the ThreeZero Voltron (At 10'6") They all look very much the same with the same accessories(were they even in the show?). It's a good time to get a Voltron I guess. |

ThreeZero seems to have cut down on additional painting for a lot of the extra parts, as well as having a lot less extra pieces in general (no pilots or stands), so they may turn out to be the most cost effective option to get a Voltron. |

This looks nice, but I am leaning towards Blitzway. I got gift money saved up but I hope there is a video of this. I only got one shot. I don't think I can get both.

There’s more premium toys than budget toys. I only remember one tiny die cast Voltron that was at a decent price. The big Netflix Voltron had 4 lions at $20 and the black at $30. That’s still well over $110 with tax. I just wish they had more options so that being a Voltron fan doesn’t mean paying $400+ dollars or only having the one or two sets from an old Netflix show.

Additionally right now these figures are for a specific show that's been off the air for like 37 years. They aren't going to make budget toys for this brand without an ongoing show. Throughout the years with the various revivals there were options at various scales and quality. Sometimes the boat is just going to sail without you onboard. |

Has ThreeZero made transforming toys before?
I honestly did not this expect to transform. And now that I know it does I don't expect I'll be able to afford it. |

Dancouga was $299, Galient $199. Both are redesigned though, and Dancouga is much more complex than Voltron. I could see Voltron somewhere in between the two; I would guess around $250. Voltron looks awesome by the way, IMO the best one out there. The Bandai SOC has more bells and whistles but ThreeZero has a better combined Voltron and much more articulation, and the Blitzway is just too stylized and expensive for me to care. Should this one end up where I'm expecting it to price-wise I'll pick it up, even better should it be cheaper. |

Yes, they started that trend recently; previous releases include Dancouga and Galient. I'll attach images of them below.

If Voltron comes out priced at $250 and he's available on Amazon (and I still have my $100 credit) I'm definitely going to get him. Quote:
The only way to get a Voltron that actually transforms for under $100 was to get the Bandai mini-pla model kit but I'm sure that's been long sold out. Playmates Voltron (84 or netflix) was a good deal at $110+ and an absolute steal at $65...'84 was anyway but it's possible that the Netflix version got a similar reissue.
Literally taking the new product and putting it up at less than half the retail price because the didn't understand the difference between the Netflix Voltron and the Classics Voltron. |

If this Japanese source is correct Voltron will be somewhere around $280, they list it at ¥32870.

I assume import prices are at play of course. Then you got shipping fees.
$300, that's a nice price. You can get a SOC right now for $350 but who knows how much longer that will be in inventory for retailers. If I didn't already own the SOC, id be preordering right now. The real question is accuracy to the cartoon vs what each company is adding their own spin. It's not like the original cartoon had a very detailed look. Blitzway seems to be going for show accurate with some of their own thing to add articulation. Threezero is sitting in the middle. Blitzway and Threezero though are adding ways to hide the legs of the lion like in the anime. Also hiding some gaps that SOC missed. Really if money is no object it's going to come down to your personal preference. |

I wonder if they are using thr 144th scale? |

Price is okay, but just based on complexity I thought this would be less than Dancouga.
But I don't feel like spending 300 bucks right now, even though this is the best Voltron IMO and ThreeZero does great stuff. |
