Anyone else think it's time we got a new modern Batman in DCUC? The last modern Batman made by the 4H was the black/gray Batman from DCSH. This was a few years ago though, and prior to DCUC. While this Batman is a great figure, all of us can universally say that we prefer new sculpts.
The DCUC Batman is based on the classic look. I dig the classic look a lot. DCUC Batman is a great figure. However I think it's time for a new modern Batman in DCUC. Maybe Bruce's new costume. Maybe Dick Grayson's(Dickbats) costume. Hell I'm thinking Mattel may even use OMAC's body as a base for Dickbats. The forearm and ankle guards are there. So what do you guys think? Oh and also, I would love to see any modern Batman figure(s) released in the future, to have double jointed knees and elbows.

Wouldn't the Dynamic Duo Bats count as a modern version? It's got the black and grey, the oval-less symbol and the pouch belt...granted the bouches are much, much smaller than the DCSH Wave 8 version, but it's still a pouch belt instead of a capsule belt.
Or are you talking about the newest bat-suit with the oval symbol and no undies? |

I would love a new sculpt for Batman, but I'm not as concerned with getting a modern costume. Sure, it'd be nice and I wouldn't get huffy if that's what Mattel and 4H decide to do, but I'd actually prefer to get some of the older suits. Maybe even a Vertigo suit or three.
Of course, Dick's version would be at the top of my Not-Bruce Batsuit list after Azrael (which is already coming out). I think this should be mandatory for all future DCUC figures, Batman included.

Wait are you talking about the figure or the current Dickbats costume? If the former, well it's a repaint, I want an all new mold for a modern Batman, the figure you described, if you were talking about a figure, is a repaint of the Classic Batman from wave 1 of DCUC. Cool sculpt but we need a new modern one. The last modern one we got was in wave 8 of DCSH.
What updates to the mould are you thinking of? Adding in the piping and raised symbol of Bruce's new costume in Batman, Inc.? |

Assuming the line continues through 2011 and they still want Wal-Mart to carry it, I would wager that "Modern" Batman and "Grayson" Batman are very likely to pop up sooner rather than later. Heck, I think they flat out said in the last Q&A that they were just looking for the right slot to put a Grayson-Batman in.
But either way they're going to have to get those "Core Character" slots filled somehow, and some relevant new Batman designs are as good a choice as any. |

Yes, I was talking about the figure that came in the Dynamic Duo two-pack with the inaccurate Tim Drake. While mostly a repaint of the Wave 1 Bats, it does feature a pouch belt instead of a capsule belt, along with the oval-less symbol Bats was sporting before Batman, Inc.

Okay, I get what you're saying now. You want a more textured look to the Bats costume. That could be pretty cool, but at the same time, the smooth, comic booky look of the current figures appeals to me a lot. I don't think the piping on the new Bats suit work work very well, there would most likely be either noticeable breaks in the piping due to the articulation, or the piping would severly restrict the articulation if they were to make it out of a soft, rubbery material, like tubes or something. The raised bat symbol could look pretty bad-ass though.
Actually, now that I think about it, resculpting the way the cowl looks around the throat would be great. The current DCUC version looks too rounded and bunched up under Bat's chin. The more swept back, straight edged look of the DCSH Wave 3/8 looked better, in my opinion. |

Something more detailed, details from the new costume(s) would be great. The DCSH wave 3/8 versions were cool, the sculpts had some intricate details and textures, and definitely screamed modern Batman. However being that it's been 5 years since that sculpt was designed, I think it's time for a new modern Batman DCUC figure.

I actually like it, the only things I don't like are the breaking of the sculpt with the wrist swivel at the forearm(end of glove), and the belt limiting range of motion for the hips on the wave 3 version.

I hate the new costume currently wore by Bruce in the comics and I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the photo on the back of the Dynamic Duo 2 pack shows the DCSH Batman as being the figure in the 2 pack but unfortunately we just got a wave # 1 Batman head on a Batman Public Enemies buck.

I think a modern Batman is needed in DCUC. Would love to see a Dick Grayson version of the Dark Knight, however I would also love to see a vintage style Batman in his costume from the 30's! I always loved that costume and thought it really should've been something Mattel released at some point in DCUC. Maybe a twin pack with a vintage and modern Bats should be made. DC Direct has done it, allbeit, both versions are Bruce Wayne, now Mattel needs to step up and do the same.
