Hey guys and gals

Does anyone know what the deal is with the TMNT figures sold by the Chinese sellers on Ebay?

Ive always assumed the figures you get from most China based sellers were leftovers etc from the factories but I recently got a set of all 4 Movie Turtles and spotted a few key differences.

For starters the colors seem a bit brighter on the "official" figures, secondly the paint apps are slightly different (although Im not sure if this is the same with the Official figures anyway).
For example on the Chinese Mikey, his necklace isnt painted all the way, but his wrist chain is whereas its not even painted slightly on the official figure

Mikeys hoodie is brown on the Chinese figure also.

Also you will notice all the weapons on the Chinese versions actually have paint apps unlike the completely unpainted ones in the packaged figures.

SO, are these knockoffs made from the same molds?
Are they leftovers from an early test run?
Are they prototypes/promotional/example figures????

Not sure what to tell you. My first question would be if the quality for both are the same. Obviously, that would be the biggest indicator. But the paint app differences are very intriguing to me. They could either be test shots/ first runs or even variants. From my experience of buying figures early sometimes, these are first runs of the actual figures released.

The plastic feels a bit softer but not by much, they seem fairly good quality so if they were knockoffs Im not sure producing them to this quality would be any cheaper :/ ???

I could be wrong, but I thought Playmates doesn't ship outside of the US with their TMNT line? Or maybe that was just the Classics?

In this age of 3D Printers...almost anyone can make KO of anything..especially if you had the legit version and can mass produce KO's...

I thought the tech+prices needed to mass produce stuff independently with 3D printers was still a way off?

They still are made outside the US though, they aren't made in the US they would cost tons more.

They just don't ship product that gets to American back out.

These come from the source probably, and hey if a figure looks great feels great and isn't killing you what's bad about getting it cheaper.

the China figures are usually knock offs. The classic collection 6" is the most obvious because the china ones generally don't have articulation on the feet like the real ones
