Really love that they are doing the secondary mutant characters. The detail on that Muckman figure is amazing!
With wave 4 this completes all 4 turtles, plus April, Splinter, Shredder, and all the other main recurring characters. So I'm real curious to see who they do with wave 5 onward. Will they start doing some of the silly turtle costume variants like they are doing in the 3.75" Reaction line, just so that they can still have one turtle figure anchoring each wave, or will they focus solely on other secondary characters from now on? Maybe Slash will be the "anchor turtle" for the next wave, along with more mutants/villains like Rat King, Leatherhead, and Krang. That would be a good solid wave 5. Simply stunning. Muckman.....like I’m a kid again. Brian, if you read these posts......please consider the universal monster turtles. I feel like Casey might need longer hair....otherwise....just stunning. Also, is it just me or is Donnie looking like the best turtle of the four? |

I feel like Casey might need longer hair....otherwise....just stunning. Also, is it just me or is Donnie looking like the best turtle of the four? These look great for those collecting them. I feel like they really whiffed the headsculpt on Casey though. Something didn't translate here...the hairline or shape of the mask maybe? I can't put my finger on it...but the headsculpt on the original Playmates toy (and the recent Neca version) look way better. Seeing how good Muckman came out really has me hoping we see Leatherhead, Ray Fillet, or Panda Khan soon. I'm not collecting this line, but I'll gladly make concessions for any of those characters should we get them because I still love those original toys. I'll be fine getting "Undercover Donatello" since that will be similar to Raphael in trenchcoat from the 1990 movie, but when they start doing the ridiculous stuff like the turtles dressed up as Star Trek characters or Universal monsters, then that's when I'll have to seriously reconsider being a completist with the line and maybe just pick and choose the characters from each wave I want. The "cosplaying" turtle variants is what burned me out on the Playmates toy line in the 90s and made me stop getting it and I'd roll my eyes when I went into the toy aisles every time I saw some new stupid costume theme they were wearing. It showed a real lack of creativity on Playmates part when they ran out of characters from the cartoon to do and had to desperately keep the line going with the costume variants based on other licenses they had access to like Star Trek. In Super 7's case, I can easily see them doing the Universal monster variants since they have access to that license for the Reaction line, but I'm not so sure about any other movie-based properties. In my opinion, something like the Universal monsters variants should be its own separate wave or a special 4-figure box set for Halloween next year rather than spacing them out one figure at a time in consecutive waves. I'll get him since he's part of the original first three years of figures from 1988-1990 before Playmates got crazy with weird costume variants and started running out of ideas for good figures. I'm surprised we're getting Mondo Gecko before Leatherhead or Rat King though. I'm curious about how they'll handle Leatherhead's tiny stature if they are mimicking how the vintage toy looked. He'll be so tiny and kind of unimpressive when compared to the cartoon version NECA just released.
It's probably a long shot that we'll ever get the turtles' Party Wagon in this line since its hindering on them first getting the Snake Mountain set to everyone and then successfully selling the Thundercats Thundertank as Brian Flynn keeps hinting at, but it sure would be nice if they could at least do a smaller scale vehicle like the Cheapskate from the first wave of the vintage line. This is an absolute grand slam! All four are perfection. I'm hard-pressed to pick a favorite, but that Muckman might just be it.

Wave looks amazing.
Don, perfect. Muckman, perfect. Casey and Mondo, bodies: perfect, heads: not quite. Super7, here's how you can fix them both (found from another thread): Casey head:
I'm fine with them making some adjustments. I do think they could make some big improvements to the overall quality by making the shadows a bit more subtle/refined, moving the eye holes apart a bit, and angling the eyes just a bit closer to the original. Mondo head: Paint:
Sculpt:
Aside from those things, these are perfect. Regarding where this line goes next, I really do hope we see the one-off non-variant mutants from 91-93 (in addition to those from 89-90, like Slash, Triceraton, Fugitoid, Chromedome, and Leatherhead) but I assume those are a given. Would love to see how the Four Horsemen do these justice: 1991:
1992:
1993:

Speaking of fixing the flaws with the headsculpts on those two mentioned above, I heard recently that Super 7 said they'll be redoing April's head (or adding an alternate headsculpt) since so many people complained about it. Have they posted any new pics yet of a revised version of the headsculpt?

Preordered without hesitation.
I found the recent Fwoosh podcast interesting listening.

I heard about that as well! Respect to Super7 for listening to the fans and taking feedback seriously. That's part of the reason why this line is one of, if not the best, TMNT line of all time so far.
I haven't seen the new April head yet, but I assume they'll show it during their Stay-at-home-icon this Friday. Fingers crossed! |

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if they sized Leatherhead up some to make him bigger in scale and more intimidating compared to the vintage toy. The vintage figure is so tiny compared to others in the line and it'll be hard to justify $45 for him unless he comes with a bunch of cool accessories.

Well bebop and rocksteady were essentially the same size as the turtles in the original toy line and super 7 definitely sized them appropriately so I would guess leatherhead will be the same

Loose ankles on Splinter, wobbly torso on Raph, very little head articulation on splinter and baxter….with Joe Eyeball and a trash can I’ll be posing him looking at his feet… Looks like we get that tiny amount of head articulation again. I just don’t understand why there is SO LITTLE HEAD ARTICULATION. CASEY JONES: I'm with the critics. TERRIBLE CASEY IMO. That face mask is uncool. Bad. The small eyes and the wide rounded forehead and face. The hair looks too spiky, thin and short. It should be more billowy and tuffed, and, fluffed down further on the back of the neck. That 80's hair. As of right now, it looks early 2000's when people started using brighter hair dyes and shit tons of GEL. The pants trim around the waist is way too heavy. His arms too jacked up. It should be a wider chest and shoulders instead. That narrow torso all the way down to the hips isn’t imposing. The shirt has too much going on, so many shreds and folds and cuts, into this itty bitty top. (How does he get that light fabric to stick to the underside of his pecs so perfectly when there is no tension on either side?) CASEY DOESN"T COME WITH A PAIR OF ROLLERBLADES OR ICE SKATES??? This is supposed to be ULTIMATES... Mondo has a skateboard, Casey should have skates, so they can “roll” together. Blunder. All that talk from Brian about how great Casey is to him doesn't resonate in these pictures. I was expecting way more I guess. MONDO: It was a rough original head sculpt design to work with. I think they stuck too close to the original on this one. They needed to do the same thing they did with the Rocksteady head sculpt. The original head was really rough. They made vast changes to make it better. It worked great. They need to do the same with this MONDO HEAD. OH, and the HIGH BOOTS on both MONDO and CASEY...I have a bad feeling about that articulation down there. Just make the boot articulated at the ankle guys....COME ON! That is all I can think right now. I hate to bring such a cool looking fig down but we need improvements.

I was looking at some comic images but couldn't find the look. Maybe you could link me something? Idk, it just doesn't do it for me. I liked a lot of the comic images I saw though. Those would be good inspiration. A hockey stick would be cool too. At least he has the goalie stick.
