I had nearly forgotten about it until just now, but NECA is scheduled to release their Ultimate 7" figure of Dante from Devil May Cry some time in the next month or so.
I'm curious as to why NECA chose not to display it at Toy Fair this year. I guess after displaying that sculpt for so many years, but never actually releasing the figure, they must have figured that anyone who cared would have already seen it by now, lol. EDIT: Oops, never mind, I just spotted him in the background of a couple of Godzilla pics. He was there, just not mentioned. Lol, I guess the ToyArk staff agree with my sentiment that those of us who care about this figure would have already seen this guy displayed many times over the past few years

I am hoping for a Sly Rambo and Rocky quarter scale. Those Rocky figures sold like hot cakes. Would love if they tried to do more.
Nothing too mind blowing outside the Chris Reeve Superman but that leaked a while back. Lets hope it sells well so we may get a Clark Kent Reeve....Nuclear Man anyone? I love Godzilla...glad for 54 version. Hoping some baddies show up at SDCC. maybe I'm not nitpicky...and I'm a big Godzilla fan, the figures seem fine. Predator look okay,i have enough but that aliens quarter looks like another wallet breaker. Love my Dutch...now let's get a Quarter Sigourney Weaver or Bill Paxon....game over man, game over. |

So is a movie version of Mohawk still coming, or is that dependent on how well the NES version does? If so, that seems silly, since the rest of the Gremlins are all movie-based

NECA only gets to make figures of Godzilla himself, Toho either wouldn't sell them the other rights and never even put them on the metaphorical table or they were too expensive (which I doubt since Godzilla isn't as excessively popular as it used to be). Maybe, just maybe, one day they'll get those other rights and we can get the other kaiju of the franchise for less than the $60 plus that the only company who makes them sells 'em for (lookin' at you SH).

NECA only wants to do Godzilla for the same reason they only did a million Kratoses in their God of War line and all of the Ezios for AC.

Joking aside, we've had this discussion before somewhere. I honestly think the more I look at it that the reason NECA didn't do a lot of God of War or Assassin's Creed is because they didn't entirely care for those franchises. I get the feeling that NECA liked the other GoW franchise more since they did an entire line for Gears of War which included multiple scales and clothing type stuff, so at least they like Gears of War a good deal more than God of War. Edit: I found where we already had the Godzilla license discussion, it was the thread for Joe's review of the Godzilla 1985 figure.

I've seen you say that price doesn't matter.. Well, it does for most people. I expect a whole lot more out of a $60 masterpiece bumblebee than I do out of a $10 classics bumblebee.. Expectations are drastically different and so are the budgets for making each, methods in which they're made, the reasons for their creation, guidelines/restrictions, license approval, and audience/consumer for each toy. All of that comes into play. These $20 toys are great for what they are and I'm sure as they move along, they're bound to get better.. As do most companies. Look at the difference between sideshow's clone troopers now compared to how they used to be.. Or even hot toys.. Compare their older predator figures to the newer ones. Hell, look at their dark knight Batman figures, even they had evolved. And lastly.. Look at the other licenses that neca has, their figures tend to get better and better. So, neca hasn't had this license for very long. They're probably still feeling out the franchise and are starting to get their beaks wet with these things. I don't think it has to do with who or which franchise they care about, I think it has to do with one being new and them having a lot of experience with the other. Anyways.. The predators look great, especially the video game figures. I love that concept, and I love how they're painting them. |

So you are saying that I should not hold NECA to the same standard as their, $20, movie accurate, Alien line to their $20, not movie accurate, Godzilla line? That does not make sense. If one line can be movie accurate, so should the other be.
I don't have any hatred towards NECA. Have you not seen the pictures I have done for my Alien collection? Or my Burton Batman? They put a ton of effort into making them as detailed as possible and be as close to the on screen counterpart as possible. As I said earlier, with Godzilla they have a "This is good enough" attitude. They don't even give their Godzillas any accessories such as breath pieces or alternate hands. If upping the price by $5 were to ensure they make them 95% movie accurate and come with accessories, then I am cool with that. However, do not tell me that I should accept Good Enough when NECA has proven they are better than that.

To be fair, alternate hands on a Godzilla toy from any company is mostly pointless considering in the movies he barely ever moves his fingers. I like the idea of accessories but I wouldn't display him with atomic breath anyway so they'd be wasted on me.
