Hi,
Im new here and new to collecting in general. I’m starting with DC Collectibles’ DC Icons figures, but the villains (and Robin) seem to be a little lacking. I’ve been looking at Mattel’s DC Universe Classics. Would any of these figures (Robin, Scarecrow, Riddler, Penguin) scale well with the DC Icons figures? Anyone have photos of how they scale? Any other recommendations for similarity and style that would scale well with DC Icons and fill in the gaps would be welcomed as well. Thanks! |

Icons are pretty small- I'm good with using the gals (other than WW) and kids to bulk up my 6in collection- but the adult males mostly look too small when lumped in with other 6in lines- But if Icons is going to be the main bulk of your line and you just want to mix in other guys- any of the larger characters like Bane, Croc, ManBat, etc would look fine. Standard 6in guys from multiverse and DCUC like Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow, etc... all those guys would probably look to large alongside icons Batman- but like anything else- scale is all relative to how you think they should look and mix n' match however it makes you happy and you can't go wrong.
In these to pics of my Bat Shelves there is an Icons Harley and an Icons Damian Wayne (Robin) - everything else is a mix of Mezco, Figuarts, Hasbro, DC Direct, and mattel... Bat Temp by lowanbing, on Flickr Bat Temp by lowanbing, on Flickr |

edit- freeze's dome is from one of those toy machines capsules you find all over the place. I think this one was .25 for a tiny squishy animal... |

lol
There is no wrong line... but icons is a pretty small one that is probably done already. DC Essentials- it's successor- bumped the scale up to about 6.25 or so.... And Multiverse is Dead as of 2020 and things switch over to Mcfarlane but nobody really knows what scale those will be or if they will look at home with existing Multiverse or DCUC collections... |

I’m thinking perhaps the Batman Classic 66 figures might scale pretty well with the DC icons.

Looks like the DCUC Robin from the dynamic duo set is at about 5.5”. Unfortunately that was only part of a set and coming by a loose figure that’s isn’t commanding $60 or higher is a bit difficult.
Anyone know of a Robin that is about equal to that height that maintains that classic look? |

Here are some choices but I don't know how well these will work for you:
Batman (2003)/DC Superheroes Robin (Tim Drake): This figure is old so it's under articulated compared to DC Icons. But it should be cheaper than most DCUC Robins. It was released a few times with different decos so look closely at eBay auctions to see which is being sold. DCUC Series 3 Robin (Tim Drake): The Dynamic Duo Robin was redecoed from this figure. It's still expensive but you might be able to get it for less than $50. DC Young Justice Robin (Dick Grayson): This isn't the classic costume for Dick but he comes with a lot of accessories and you should be able to get him for around $30. Batman Missions AF line: This is Mattels current line of Batman figures for little kids. It's Batman heavy but it does contain some bad guys and a Robin. These are basic figures so paint apps and articulation will be lacking. Like Bo said, characters that can change their size like Clayface or are known for being really big like Bane can be purchased from other lines that are in a larger scale and used with your DC Icons figures. Just out of curiosity, why don't you like the DC Icons Robin? |

Thanks! I really like the look and articulation of the DCU Dynamic Duo Robin. The DCUC Series 3 might have to be a compromise.
The DC icons Robin seems way too short, and I couldn’t really find any pictures of him next to DC Icons Last Rights Batman. Got any pictures of the two together? |

Icons as a line is not terrible and covered most of DCs heavy hitters. Its a shame that some of the announced figures like Booster, Ted Kord and Etrigan were never released though. You could probably work with the Essentials line, but they are certainly larger and inferior to the Icons in terms of sculpt and accessories, however do have better articulation.
It will be interesting to see what MacFarlane toys has to offer given how nice the Fortnite figure look.

The board keeps blocking my reply as spam, and I have no idea why. I’ve included my reply as a photo instead
