SH Monsterarts King Kong Photo Shoot

The SH Monsterarts King Kong, based on the Peter Jackson’s 2005 King Kong film, was released earlier this year. I had the good fortune to grab this at NJCC last weekend. The figure looked pretty amazing, so I wanted to do up a shoot. And since it’s been out a bit, I decided to have some fun by doing a Godzilla vs King Kong shoot with NECA’s 12″ Head-To-Tail Godzilla 2014 Figure. In the movies, this Godzilla would tower over King Kong, but as figures, they work fantastically together.

Overall

The SH Monsterarts King Kong is a fantastic figure with no major flaws that I could see. It features a stylized interpretation of King Kong. Wit the scratches included, it makes for a good companion piece to other figures for battle displays. The packaging is collector friendly as well. The included stick seems a bit pointless, but that’s really the only quibble I would have with the whole package.

Articulation junkies will have a blast posing this guy. He can hit most of, if not all, the poses you would expect, from knuckles on the ground to beating his chest. The figure has a nice weight to it, and the construction is solid. I did pop the joints a few times, but that was with some real pressure being applied to those joints. The three included face sculpts are nicely sculpted and offer some variety in how you display him. Not pictured (since I didn’t need it), but included is a figure stand for King Kong.

In the end, this was a great purchase. Lots of fun to pose, good sculpt, lots of articulation. Can’t ask for much more. See a few highlights below, and then the full gallery after that.
