From Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped comes the Deluxe Scuba Gear Crash Bandicoot Figure by NECA Toys. This figure is the fourth Crash Bandicoot variant released by NECA. As the name implies, this 5.5″ tall Crash figure includes a scuba tank, mask and breather. The figure joins the previously released Crash Bandicoot standard figure, the Deluxe Jetboard Crash, and the Deluxe Jet Pack Crash Bandicoot. The Scuba Crash is on its way to retailers and should be hitting stores very soon.

Overall
The Scuba Gear Crash comes packed in a large plastic clamshell, which is not resealable. The backer card included features similar classic Crash art as the previous releases, while the back showcases the three previously released figures. No additional accessories are included.
We’ve gone over the base Crash figure a few times, so there’s no need in re-writing about the base sculpt or articulation. Here’s a snippet from my standard Crash review:
“With their first Crash Bandicoot figure, NECA modeled their sculpt on his look in the new N. Sane Trilogy, which looks very much like his classic promo art. Crash stands about 5.5″ tall and has about 16 points of articulation. The sculpt work here is excellent, with some nice detail in the fur, and an overall look that captures the 90’s attitude that Crash is known for. Range of motion is ok, with the shoulders giving you the most range. There’s a surprising amount of poseability in the torso and neck, which allows for some good running poses.”
All of that still holds true here, as the figure is still a spot on Crash Bandicoot. So let’s dig into what’s new for this release. The newly sculpted head included molded on goggles, and a breathing tube that is glued into the figures mouth. The tube connects to a large air tank that is located on Crash’s back. Detailing on these new pieces is nice, and the colors are bright and vibrant here. There’s some scuffing details with the paint as well, mainly on the yellow tanks. Also new on this release are the retooled feet to replace the sneakers with swimming flippers. The large flippers help to add extra balance to the figure, which is a little back heavy due to the air tank. All of the new parts look nice, and this is a spot on representation of Crash from the Warped water level.
I do wish the air tank was removable, like the jet pack version. With the tube glued into the mouth, that’s not easily possible. Most may not care about that though, especially if you have multiple versions already. Speaking of which, many fans may already have one or more of the previous releases. I’d definitely recommend this to fans who have just the basic version for sure, or to those who enjoy the more unique looks. New characters were recently revealed at Toy Fair 2019, so the line should start to fill out nicely in the coming year. Check out some select photos below, and the full gallery after that.
