Threezero Robo-Dou Voltron Gallery

Quick look today at an upcoming release by Threezero – Robo-Dou Voltron. Robo-Dou is their sub-line of Japanese inspired mecha figures. They are not in scale, and usually dive deep into anime sources that don’t get the attention current Western lines do. We’ve looked at multiple so far from the line from properties such as Patlabor, Evangelion, and Getter Robo. Today adds in Voltron, which Western audiences may know well, but it was a Japanese creation first so it fits. On the surface, it looks like – Voltron – which has been done in multiple scales and material finishes over the years. Pics make it difficult to relay differences. But there are differences.

I had the original US release as a kid, Toynami’s 30th (gallery here), and handled the Soul of Chogokin and Mattel releases, though didn’t own them. So I’ve Voltrond. What stands out here is manageable size mixed with quality. It’s got heft with die-cast construction. It’s got sharp paint, both the bright colors and metallic parts. It has articulation. The design limits it, but wherever they could add some in, they do. Accessories are there for both the lions and Voltron. It is a sharp, well executed piece. Nothing broke, nothing was wobbly, it was sturdy when combined. If you are looking for a centerpiece Voltron without taking up tons of space (about 11 inches tall), it’s a perfect fit.
