Reality check- This is the Lizard for 30 plus years or so that he was around:
No hotlinking. - Toyark Staff.

Then they revamped him to look like this:
No hotlinking. - Toyark Staff.

He's always been an alligator man- green scales, longish snout full of teeth, etc.
I live in South Florida- I know lizards: they dont have scales or teeth.
And Ditko's version from his first appearance did not even sport teeth! Looks like he forgot his dentures!
Besides, if comics have taught me anything, it's this: any grown man weraing bright purple slacks is cound to turn into a monster.

They can try to play off a weak design as some homage, but it's a joke- this looks nothing like any version of the character. Ever.

But then, this studio also gave us Deadpool in XMO, so accuracy is not always their strong suit.

NEW TRAILER. Looks like a good movie...if I can accept what they did to Lizard... Going to not let that get to me because it honestly looks like a good film.

Um, that was Fox that made XMO:W. This is Sony. Two different companies and studios. They only thing that might share is Avi Arad.

That being said, I'll wait until I see the movie for how bad or good the lizard is. As others pointed out, it does fit his early days look before he became more alligator like.

And I'm from Southern California and the city with the World Famous San Diego Zoo and I'm telling you LIZARDS HAVE TEETH. They may not be as pronounced visually like drawings of monstrous villain characters but they definitely have teeth.

On my phone so I couldn't search for a better source to help but here's one anyway Lizards - The Basics

Agreeing with Greenskar, yes lizards have both teeth and scales.
The tiny little anoles that live around you do not. But they're just one type in the huge variety that constitutes as lizards.
Monitors like Komodo Dragons have very dangerous teeth, and scales. Iguanas have both (At least some do.)
Those two examples are just off the top of my head. With a little digging, I could find hundreds.

Wasn't there actually a version of the Lizard that resembled an Iguana at some point? It might have been the 6" toyline.

Saw a trailer for it when I went to see Avengers. I might go see ASM in the theater now.

While I agree, it's not going to happen any time soon. Actors + super hero masks = "battle-damage" + masks destroyed.

It's harder to emote when no one can see your face....

The car jacker thing was funny but as a movie this still hasn't reeled me in but ironically if this were a comic book I might read it

About the only thing worrying me about this movie is that it's a byproduct of the success of The Dark Knight, in that the direction was to make this take on Spidey "Darker". I certainly haven't read any "dark" spider man stories other than "Back In Black" (which was great btw) but that certainly wasn't an origin story.

Otherwise, everything else I saw in the recent trailer seemed pretty damn cool. I can't wait to watch.

Two different reviews on the movie. IGN gave it a 6/10 and Newsarama gave it a 10/10.

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Review - IGN

Newsarama.com : AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Review - 10/10: The Reboot It Needed

I personally can't wait to see it. Wasn't a fan of Toby's Spidey at all. Was a fan of Spider-man 2 though. Doc Oc was awesome in that movie.

Seeing this in IMAX on the 6th. I have my doubts on this movie. I want to like it, but I'm just not quite sure it will be awesome. I honestly think Avengers and TDKR are going to be the two hits of this summer.
