Not really except where I'm calling a store to see if they have female figures in stock. Trying to describe the costume to a female employee gets me a little red in the face as it sounds bad to call and say "yes I'm looking for a Marvel Universe figure and her name is Psylocke she is in a purple bathing suit with knee high boots on, can you check for me?"

i didnt even know this thread existed. as for me, its not even an issue. maybe if i were some 16 to 24 year old trying to fit in with some group, but at 35 years old, im proud of it and even did an interview for Armed Forced Network, with no shame. its who i am and it reflects on those around me. they accept me and admire my collection and who i am as a person. what i have is an accumulation of years of well engineered and sculpted toys i play with and take pics of. no one should be embarrassed.

I try to describe the figure as much as is possible, I hate asking for a figure they might have and them not being sure if it is the right one and either telling me they do when they don't or telling me they don't when they do and they don't know it. I used that as an example of what a call like that would sound like, as of yet I haven't started calling for Psylocke because i know scalpers have started buying up that wave at the couple of targets I've seen remnants of that wave.

If they speak/read english. An embarrassing description shouldn't be necessary. I should be calling places, but Ive called walmart before and got stuck on hold for 10 min before somebody just hung up the phone. Hate walmarts customer support |

I never bother calling a retail store asking what they got for 2 reasons, 1 the empolyees 9/10 times are useless or will say yes or no just to make u happy, aside from that even if they did have said figure, no guarantee it'll be there when you get there ie scalpers and fellow collectors, and most don't hold items. A LCS I'd call and ask, as they know their stock directly as they're the ones placing the orders and if they don't have it often times they can order it or keep an eye/ear out for anybody who does.

No. None of my friends or people who have come over has ever said anything as I have both my DC Collection and my Gun Collection in the same room.

It's weird cuz I have alot of friends who collect toys, but for some reasons, when people come to my house and see my collection, they have a real hard time believing it's mine. I actually hate that. After several dozen times, they always end up with like a: Wow, that takes commitment.
Everyone apparently has a short-attention span around me. They're incredibly supportive of it, as well as my family. It's also rad that my fiance is also into hardcore toy and comic collecting. Half the time, people leave our place with envy because their lives are too boring to sustain awesome stuff that they adored growing up. Last edited by Scythe; 02-20-2012 at 03:47 AM.. |

![]() "Well, she's useing the first MU female buck, so no thigh swivels or rocker ankles, and she's got a repainted Phoenix head, which is still better than that awful Jean Grey figure they made, right? She's from Wave 6 or wave 18, depending on your perspective. I'm not a MOC collector, so that's not an issue, but it cant be some Cantina-swap return either, right? I'm just looking to score before some damn scalper buys everything, y'know?" |

Next time you might as well just talk all Arker at her:

"Definitely check the paint apps!
And if you could...check for variants, would you? See, There's some with a different name on the stand and others with reversed cards and some are whole different figures on the same card and some are upside down..do you want to get a pen and write this down?" |

I keep seeing that Joe mech thing at Ross for like eight bucks but I know that A) it's just silly and B) It's another useless thing to cluttter my apartment that I'll never use and feel guilty throwing away...eventually.
