Alright, so, thinking some more, let me ask another question. I know there's a following for the Medicom and Sideshow stuff, much of which looks like it stepped out of a movie or anime, but do any of you collect Tonner dolls? My impression of them is that they usually do a passable job on the costumes but never really look like the character they're supposed to be depicting. I get why that happens on a $20 Barbie, but it'd seem to be a real showstopper at the price point(s) we're talking about.

*bump*

So nobody has any Tonner dolls or an opinion on how accurate to the source material a ~$90 1:6 scale action figure should look?

Looking like kind of a moot point lately anyway. You can't get even 500 of anything (shirt, pistol, etc) made these days. No wonder every other 1:6 scale release these days is another Iron Man variant.

The problem is popularity. I would love a 12'' full articulated set of the beatles, or jim morrison, or mike tyson. but if nobody else wants it then they can't sell them or make more then 100 to make it worth anything. They need a market, a desired amount of collectors who want the same thing. Also try to get the rights to make the items and to get the likeness right from the actor or actress, sometimes movie studios don't care but the actors do. 12'' figures are like statues, pricey, good resell, huge and takes up room and you pick and choose the ones you want.
