I dunno what everyone’s problem is with Indiana’s head sculpt likeness. It looks really good. Looks like the actor and that’s good enough for a $20-$30 figure.

Yeah, it isn't as bad as people are making it out to be, but Hasbro themed hatred is currently all the rage....dontcha know?

Hasbro has earned much of the en vogue acrimony, but a near equal number of complaints represent faux pas prevalent throughout the toy industry as a whole and there’s a healthy amount of cognitive dissonance taking place when Hasbro is called out in isolation.

The 6” Indy figures look to be thoughtfully designed and decently executed in the promotional shots. I see some utility for a few of these figs as suited civilians in photography and, of course, I imagine custom makers will be grabbing some on consignment.

As far as whether securing this license was a wise move? The toy scientists, aspirant engineers, and marketing masterminds of this site will kick that football around all day. However, we’ll have to see what the upcoming reboot of the franchise brings before knowing for sure whether this will resonate with the youngins.

Gotta love how folks act like there's an easily-replicated formula for massive success that any toy company can do. Hate to break it to all the marketing geniuses that somehow aren't all millionaires/billionaires here, but if that were the case, there would never be a toy line that wasn't a massive hit.

I am skeptical this line will give us much more than the last effort at Indy toys (if nothing else due to the relative scarcity of source material by comparison to licenses like Star Wars, Marvel, etc...), if only in 6" form vs. 3.75." Which also means less/no vehicles, though I could MAYBE see a German motorcycle w/ Sidecar from Last Crusade or something like that squeaking out. MAYBE a horse mold that could be repurposed in other lines (mostly Marvel).

That said, saying the movie is doomed because the property is too old is a bit premature. One of the biggest-grossing movies of last year was a sequel to a movie that was 36 years old (Top Gun: Maverick). If the movie is entertaining enough, it'll likely do just fine, if not exceptionally so, though I do agree it doesn't seem to be likely to rope a bunch of young kids into being fans.

The film will fail thanks to kathleen kennedy and james mangold. The toys will fail because there is unfortunately not a large enough fanbase. Add hasblo's ineptitude and not giving the core fans what they want, and you've got 2008 all over again. Although I did like a lot of the 2008 stuff and I miss it. It's gone due to theft.

I think Dial of Destiny will be a big hit because adventure movies are making a comeback. Uncharted is such an underwhelming movie IMO and yet it did surprisingly well... well enough to start up another franchise anyway. I was wrong about Avatar though... I would have bet the farm on that movie mega bombing... and yet it just casually blew past Top Gun Maverick at the box office and is on its way to 2 bil probably.

Also... Hasbro is not just getting hate from toy collectors... Wizards of the Coast (which is owned by Hasbro) is getting a tons of hate too from both the Magic the Gathering community and the Dungeons and Dragons community because of recent decisions made by upper management... which means Hasbro trying desperately to make a bunch of money quickly even if it means upsetting their core fanbases.

TBH, Hasbro kinda deserve their backlash for their Marvel offerings. Any figures other than Marvel are usually pretty darn good, like Star Wars, and G.I. Joe figures. Marvel is just crappy re-uses of muscle bound bodies while G.I. Joe and Star Wars have unique sculpts for each character. This is why I believe Indiana Jones figures will be awesome to have and will probably be sought after by collectors.

This upcoming movie might be horrible or amazing. I’d say maybe horrible, but I just want that 6” Indiana Jones figure with the hat.

I'm a Marvel Legends collector and I agree that much of the deserved Hasbro criticism should be squarely affixed to how they’ve handled the comic (canon, specifically, to be even more granular) line. That said, I also believe Marvel has directives that influence Hasbro’s budget allocation and character selection. I’m convinced that Dan is a genuine comic-head and, to varying degrees, so are Ryan and Dwight. I think they would deliver more faithful translations, greater tooling, more unique parts, and consistently deep dives were it up to them. However, most working people have paymasters to satisfy that often undermine our efforts to improve the process.

^ was that when he drank from the wrong grail?

I'm kind of excited about the Grail knight personally I'd love if it came with a helm or something so I could have some type of Templar or crusading knight (alcedor custom time).

As for the criticism of hasbro I don't think anyone is doing it to be trendy or anything there is just a lot of passion from the fans. I had to laugh at the gelatinous cube I saw at target for $34 yesterday without a figure... my son just 3d printed a cube at school for free too. When you contrast what you get from other companies (mcfarlane, jazwares or even mattel) it just seems like hasbro has been pretty disappointing lately

Good point about the templar, I'm sure they'll sell a lot of them for army builders.

Marion, Belloq, and Sallah are up for pre-order on Pulse now. Marion and Sallah are also up on Amazon, but no sign of Belloq there yet.

Why does everyone seem to only do Marion in that one specific outfit? They know she wore other clothes in the film, right?

Ugh, preach! That outfit also has limited utility in a display, since she wears it for wayyyyy less of the movie than the white dress look from the original Kenner line.

Maybe the used John Rhys-Davies currently as a source. He has lost some weight over the years. Certainly slimmed down since King Solom's Mines.

For years, i used to think the actor who played Kazim was the same actor who played the guy with the monkey in Raiders. And coincidentally, the monkey guy has 2 different roles in Raiders.

I hate these reissued/retooled throwback 3.75” figures. Please give us a modern amount of articulation and likenesses in the 3.75” line.
