Does Hot Toys usually do plastic cut figures like that 2099? I thought anything not metal was a suit.

I don't collect Hot Toys but it does seem very odd that they chose to make it the way I might expect Mondo to make a 1/6 Spider-Man 2099. Feels like they are cheating!

Yeah, that seems like an odd choice to go with for 2099.
Also, I'm hoping they're going to make a Toei Spidey. |

It's really unusual for the whole figure to be like that instead of a suit or like Venom which has seamless/flexible arms and legs but have hard joints at shoulders. Really weird decision. Like if they tooled a body and then did a suit wouldn't that be the same tooling costs as this would be? And then they'd have a usable body for other things and not just a Spider-Man 2099 body.

Yeah, it's jarring seeing HT of all places do what basically looks like a 12" Marvel Legends figure.

That exposed ab crunch is a real step down for HT.
I would expect these cartoon-type figures to be priced much more cheaply than the more detailed, lifelike figures. |

Their take on 2099 looks more like Mondo’s thing. It’s odd for sure.

So I definitely like it, as it is an upscaled Marvel Legends style fig which I'm fine with, I just don't understand why Hot Toys specifically did it like that. Wouldn't be on my radar either way due to scale, but I'm curious.

This figure doesn't even match the appearance of the rest of the figures that are part of its wave. It's a stupid decision. Personally, as a standalone figure, it looks attractive to me, but it shouldn't cost more than 150/180 dollars in China.

The figure looks amazing to be honest, but it's definitely an odd choice that HT of all companies would go for a fully articulated 1/6 plastic figure.

Yeah, 2099 Spidey tends to always look kinda....crap, when done in mixed media. This isn't so surprising.

Wow that 2099 sure is just a scaled up Marvel Legends figure, huh

I guess enough people complained? I was actually a little interested when it was just a plastic figure. Not too interested now, ah well..

Now I’m more interested in what it would look like with cloth. Honestly, if Mafex makes something like this, it will look cool AF.
