So you actually get one less gun with the deluxe version? What kind of sense does that make?

No, you don't get one less gun, you get a different gun. Remember, that deluxe version is of the Death Trooper Specialist, a figure we already got, while the other figure is just a Death Trooper. The Deluxe is not a variant of the figure that was revealed alongside it, but one released earlier.
