With the fedora and closed trench, I get more of a old western vibe to him. Like he's a dark cowboy or something.

The one without a hat/trench looks good, but it still feels off.

I'd say go for the open trench version. If the fedora can be removable, then go with that, too.

i'm really favoring the one in the middle sans hat but whatever he looks like in the game i'll probably use instead. i just need a few good shots of his costume there.

i would think about using
1) torso from a Crimson Guardsman
2) the arms from BeachHead
3) upper legs from Stormshadow and lower from Snakeyes or other combat booted figure
4) head should possibly be FireFly/BeachHead with gogles.

I would rit dye the pices first to give them all a dark grey/black hue then paint them over that (keeps paint rubs from being visible. I cannot wait to see your project completed.

thank you!

i already have #2 & #4, sans googles, will check my local Toys R Us for the crimson guard body and those legs but if ever i think i'll settle for an iron grenadier since it's so common. also can anyone point me to a good dyeing tutorial? thanks for all the help!

RIT dye tutorial - JCWiki I use a slightly different method. I get an old plastic container (butter - cleaned really well and dryed out). I put the Dye mix in the micro wave for a short period to seriously heat it up (about 1 min). I tie dental floss or sewing thread to the pices and drop them into the dye and let them sit for about 1 min. then i put the mix back into the microwave for another minute with parts in it. Then I remove the parts and pat them dry and allow to cool. Then i rinse with cold water. I repeat as needed (depends on how dark you want your color.

i might try that, but i have concerns over parts melting in the microwave. is there any danger involved regarding the figure?

I have done it with both MU and Joe figures. If you only heat the liquid or reheat it for short periods there is no melting. If you have concerns with melting, then pull the parts out and reheat the liquid and return the figure to the bowl.

Also, I cover the bowl so the heat does not escape too quick... but do not seal the lid or the steam will cause it to pop off and get dye everywhere.

hi Michael, the recipe for this is as follows:

parts list so far:
Head: ROC Sgt Flash with ROC baroness shades used as googles and some thin tarp as the straps and belt
Body: crimson Guard (junker i got from my brother)
Arms: comic pack Beach head (but Firefly is a better bet, color-wise)
Thighs: ninja intern (i dunno the proper term :P) Snake Eyes from the comic pack
boots: comic pack blue commando snake eyes

hope that helps
