Im appreciative towards whatever I get as long as they have good intentions. I hope all of you receive coals in your stocking this Christmas.
I don't celebrate christmas, so NYAH!

But seriously, just because you think a gift isn't ideal, doesn't mean you don't appreciate it. It just means you wonder what the thought process behind it was.

if anything, bad or unwanted presents came from my relatives. I once received a ham radio and a magic kit.

When it came to christmas, I knew early on that santa wasnt real cause the price stickers were still on the boxes So, my folks always asked me a week or so before christmas to actually write a christmas list and give it to them. It was never "Ill mail it to santa!" My folks are awesome and new DAMN WELL not to give me clothes or something stupid like that. Helps that my dad is a geek/trekkie.

Here's your arch-nemesis, the Jackster!! (or so I named him)! Unlike your figure, mine didn't outlast the rigors of grappling in the squared circle and is now held together by an elastic band. LOL.

For the next couple days it seemed all I could think about was that awesome figures that would soon be in my hands. Well, my birthday comes and I rip open the present from my neighbor. I did not find a Hulk Hogan. What I did find was crushing disappointment in the form of this:

A ham radio?? How the hell does that work? Couldn't you have used the magic kit and turn the ham into a real radio lol?

Can't say it was a bad gift, but it wasn't what I wanted. . .I asked for a Sega Genesis for Christmas the year they came out. I got a TurboGrafx16.

And I was handed one of the video games to open before I had opened the console. Really made the whole situation awkward.

That, and one Christmas my in-laws bought me a weed whacker. I thought "um, not exactly what I wanted. . .not even really a Christmas gift." But it's like 7 years later, I still use it -- often, and am glad they bought it! (Cuz I wouldn't have bought it myself)

LOL, okay, I remember wanting a box of Nintendo cereal (apparently we didn't get it here in Canada) so my sister bought me "Nintendo Shreddies", or that's what she called it. LOL. It was just Shreddies and had an amusing boardgame on the back. To be honest, it wasn't bad and I got enjoyment out of it.

Oh another thing is my sister still randomly buys me toys for the heck of it which is funny because I'm a grown man now (granted I still collect toys), but yeah, she doesn't really have an idea of what I need but her heart is in the right place. She buys me figures that are discounted at Winners like the DCUC line, unfortunately I already have them. I'm actually returning a Cyclotron today. LOL.

I kinda have the same problems with my brothers. They don't really know what to get me. And most of what I actually want I already got myself lol. So my family mainly just gives me money or gift cards for presents now. Which I don't mind at all

They say gift cards are the lazy gift. No thought in them at all. I say they thought enough not to get you the wrong gift, and gave you something that you could use to get you something that you really want
